The Amazing Son-in-Law: Chapters 41-45
Chapter 41
Gerald, terrified, trembled and urinated himself. He stammered, “Big Boss Bill, I’m a member of the White family…”
Bill grinned sinisterly. Kicking Gerald to the ground, he snarled, “The Don just taught a White family idiot a lesson yesterday! That fool was slapped ten thousand times! You dare mention the White family to me?!”
Gerald recoiled in shock. He'd thought Kevin had been robbed and beaten; it was Don Albert who'd done it! Overwhelmed by terror, Gerald was struck on the head by Bill's bat. The world spun; a buzzing filled his ears, blood flowed from his nose and mouth, his vision blurred, and he lost consciousness.
Wendy screamed in horror. Gerald was her fiancé, her ticket into the White family. Bill frowned, annoyed. “Shut up! Men, gag her! Make her quiet!” The men, gleefully anticipating tormenting a beautiful, defiant woman like Wendy, advanced. Wendy, desperate, backed against a wall.
“Come here, bitch!” A one-eyed man viciously yanked Wendy’s hair, slapping her repeatedly. Soon, her face was swollen and bleeding. The beating would leave permanent scars, bordering on disfigurement.
Loreen, horrified by Bill’s brutality, cowered behind Charlie Wade. Bill spotted them. “Them too! Kill them! How dare they occupy the Diamond Suite! Die!”
A man lunged at Loreen. “How dare you!” Charlie Wade, a sheet of ice on his face, kicked the man down. Bill’s face darkened. “Who the f*ck are you?”
Charlie Wade calmly replied, “You’ll regret talking to me like that.” He called Albert. “Albert Rhodes, I’m in the Ruby Suite. Get here!” He ended the call and glared at Bill.
Loreen stared, astonished. Wendy, her face bruised and swollen, was even more terrified by Charlie Wade's call.
Bill smirked. “Little punk, you dare summon the Don? You’re digging your grave!” He signaled his men. “Kill him!”
Suddenly, Albert roared from outside. “Damn it, Bill! You want to die?! You dared touch Mr. Wade? I’ll cut you up and feed you to the dogs!” Bill froze.
Chapter 42
Don Albert! Mr. Wade? Albert stormed in, pummeling Bill. “You f*cking idiot! You didn’t recognize Mr. Wade?!” He cursed, kicking Bill relentlessly. Bill, previously so arrogant, whimpered on the floor.
Loreen was stunned. The men panicked. Was the young man really Mr. Wade?
Albert barked, “You fools! Apologize to Mr. Wade!”
The men apologized profusely. Bill begged for mercy. Albert slapped himself, apologizing for his men's actions.
Charlie Wade glanced at Loreen. “I’m just here for dinner with my wife’s friend.” He turned cold. “They aren’t my friends.”
Loreen was surprised. Remembering her earlier disdain, she blushed. Wendy was shocked. Charlie Wade knew Don Albert!
Albert swore it wouldn't happen again and that Mr. Wade could use the Diamond Suite whenever he pleased.
Charlie Wade said to Loreen, “Let’s go. It’s chaotic.”
Loreen, concerned for the others, asked, “What about them?”
Charlie Wade, “Let Albert handle them.”
Albert promised to send them to the hospital.
Chapter 43
After leaving Paradise Springs, Charlie Wade took Loreen back to her hotel. Her father had told her that the Wade family, Eastcliff’s most powerful family, had found their long-lost young master—the new chairman of Emgrand Group. The Thomas family, though powerful in Eastcliff, were second-tier compared to the Wades. Loreen was tasked with contacting and, ideally, marrying the young master, elevating the Thomas family's status.
Loreen felt reluctant but dared not refuse. Her sole purpose in Aurouss Hill was to attract the chairman's attention. She was confident in her attractiveness and abilities. Marrying him would propel the Thomas family to the top. She imagined him: his age, appearance…
She watched a viral video of Charlie Wade, flashing money at Emerald Court. The timing coincided with the Wade family's young master reappearing. She concluded the man in the video was the chairman. She studied the video, noting his athletic build. He looked a bit like Charlie Wade, but why would the Wade heir remain with the insignificant Wilsons?
Chapter 44
The next day, Loreen arrived at Emgrand Group. Miss Young, the vice-chairman, showed her around. Loreen tentatively asked about meeting the chairman.
Doris Young became alert. Charlie Wade had asked her to keep an eye on Loreen. She said the chairman rarely came to the office, but she would let him know if Loreen was allowed to see him.
Doris immediately reported this to Charlie Wade, who was wary of Loreen's intentions. He decided to maintain his distance, especially since his true identity must remain hidden.
Chapter 45
Claire Wilson made dinner reservations at a high-end restaurant. Charlie Wade reluctantly agreed. Upon arrival, he discovered Claire had booked the Sky Garden at Shangri-La, a space usually reserved for elite members. A sign announced the Sky Garden was booked for three days.
Claire was shocked. Charlie played it cool. Claire wondered who could book such a prestigious space. Charlie suggested it was a man who loved his wife, planning a wedding there.
Claire was impressed, commenting how lucky his wife would be.
They entered the Sky Garden. Loreen arrived. They caught up.
Loreen exclaimed about the extravagant reservation. Claire confessed she’d used Miss Young's membership. Loreen noticed the sign about the upcoming booking. She mentioned the viral video of the mysterious wealthy man, suggesting he might be the one who booked the Sky Garden and was likely the new chairman of Emgrand.
Claire sighed, calling Loreen a busybody. Loreen laughed, intending to see the person who booked the Sky Garden in three days.
Charlie Wade felt a surge of frustration. He’d intended a surprise for Claire, not unwanted attention. He hadn’t anticipated the impact of booking the Sky Garden; many others, like Loreen, would be curious to know who booked it.
