Chapter 1691

Zara's words angered Zayne. He pointed at Zara and said angrily, "Don't even mention this at home! Dare to say another word, and see if Grandpa scolds you!"

Zara smiled, pulling out her phone. "Or, I'll call Grandpa right now and tell him in person."

"Get down from there!" Zayne hurried to say. "It's fine. I won't argue. The horoscope isn't finished yet. You two need to finalize your trip to Japan and leave early!"

Fitz quickly interjected, "Dad, as Zara said, let's meet the Takahashi family first, then the Ito family. To leave earlier, I've told the crew to start immediately after lunch. What do you think?"

Zayne nodded. "Okay. Make sure you're ready and don't rush off after lunch. Report to your grandfather first. Tell him your plans. If he approves, you can leave."

"Yes, Dad," Fitz agreed, winking at Zara. "Zara, let's go."

Zara nodded and followed Fitz out of his father's study.

Once outside, Fitz scolded, "You owe Stefanie one! Why tell Dad about her?"

Zara chuckled playfully. "Why not? It's been bothering you, hasn't it? Are you really going to accept your fate and obey the family's arrangements?"

Fitz sighed. "We're from this background. We're born into this. The only thing we lack is autonomy. Don't you get that? Why did you have to mention it to Dad?"

"I'm happy," Zara said defiantly. With a resolute expression, she added, "Zara's future will never be controlled by anyone!"

Fitz shook his head. "Okay, let's drop it. This trip to Japan might take a few days. Pack your bags. After dinner, let's go see Grandpa, then we'll leave."

Zara hummed, stretching lazily. "It's too early. I'll sleep when we get back. Wake me up."

Fitz looked at her retreating back and sighed heavily. "I'm really done with you."

Chapter 1692

In Tokyo, Charlie Wade had spent the morning on the Kobayashi house's rooftop terrace. Paul was busy finalizing legal documents with the local business department. Liam and Ichiro Kobayashi had gone to the Kobayashi Pharmaceutical production base. While Mr. Quinton's materials wouldn't arrive until evening, Liam needed to assess the base and arrange for Nova Dias' transfer. This way, they could start trial production immediately upon the materials' arrival. Charlie Wade, therefore, was the most idle. He sat on the terrace deck chair, enjoying the view and the cool wind 100 meters above Tokyo.

Cameron Isaac approached respectfully. "Master, shall we go out this afternoon? Ginza and Shinjuku are quite bustling."

Charlie Wade waved his hand. "I'm not interested in shopping. You go with Don Albertt."

Cameron Isaac smiled. "I have something to do with him; I think the old man's itching to try some Japanese entertainment."

"Let him go then," Charlie Wade said lightly. "It's legal in Japan."

Cameron Isaac nodded. "If he's free this evening, we'll go."

Charlie Wade spent the afternoon at the hotel. He wasn't familiar with Tokyo and didn't find the modern city particularly appealing. He preferred Eastcliff, with its blend of modern and historical elements. However, not wanting to restrict others, he sent Cameron Isaac, Don Albertt, and the others out.

The group returned in the evening with numerous shopping bags. Cameron Isaac arranged dinner at a Chinese restaurant run by one of his staff.

Afterwards, Charlie Wade told Cameron Isaac and Don Albertt, "Feel free to do your own thing. You don't need to stay with me."

Don Albertt asked quickly, "Master Wade, do you have any plans?"

Charlie Wade paused. "I'll go for a walk."

Don Albertt smiled. "Master Wade, are you going to the red-light district? I hear the women there are very efficient."

Charlie Wade waved his hand. "No, I want to walk around the University of Tokyo. You go enjoy yourselves."

"The University of Tokyo?" Don Albertt asked in surprise. "Master Wade, what for? It's not your alma mater."

Charlie Wade said calmly, "Just a walk. You don't have to come."

Cameron Isaac offered, "Master Wade, shall I send you a car?"

"No," Charlie Wade said. "After a day at Ichiro Kobayashi's, I want to walk."

Everyone agreed. Charlie Wade took the subway to the University of Tokyo.

Chapter 1693

He wondered why he'd chosen the University of Tokyo. It likely had to do with Nanako Ito. Though he didn't know her well, he remembered her stubbornness and distress. He knew she wasn't in Tokyo, but she was a student there, so he wanted to see her school. Meanwhile, a Boeing 737 business jet departed from Eastcliff Airport carrying Fitz, Zara, and several Banks family members to Tokyo.

The Takahashi family, having received advance notice, were thrilled by the Banks family's decision to meet them first. They waited at Tokyo Narita Airport and booked the best rooms at the Aman Hotel Tokyo, per Zara's request. Yuhiko Ito also received the news.

Learning that the Banks family would meet the Takahashi family first, he was furious. This, coupled with the 4.5 billion USD incident, sent him into a rage. He smashed several pieces of porcelain, vowing to make Charlie Wade pay double if he couldn't secure the Banks family's cooperation.

Ito's anger stemmed from more than just spite. He'd had a difficult time: his daughter's injury, Jiro Kobayashi's disappearance, the failed investment in Kobayashi Pharmaceutical, and Charlie Wade's refusal to return the 4.5 billion USD. He'd never encountered such audacity. If it weren't for Charlie Wade's apparent power and the upcoming Banks family visit, he would have killed him. But the Banks family's first stop being his rival, the Takahashi family, broke him. Why were so many problems happening?

Tanaka Koichi, seeing Ito's fury, waited until he calmed down before speaking. "Chairman, don't worry. Even if the Banks family meets the Takahashi family first, it doesn't mean anything. I received a message; they'll visit tomorrow morning. We still have a chance."

Ito said darkly, "The order of who they meet is crucial. It's like having a girlfriend in Osaka and needing to work there. Seeing your girlfriend first shows who's more important."

Hiroshi Tanaka stammered, "Mr. Ito, love and business aren't the same"

Ito angrily continued, "Let's say you're a playboy with two lovers in Osaka. Which do you see first, the one you like more or less?"

Hiroshi Tanaka said, "I might like both. If I can't see both at once, there's an order. I might flip a coin. It doesn't reflect preference."

Ito kicked Hiroshi Tanaka. "Get out! I don't need your comfort!"

Hiroshi Tanaka retreated. "Mr. Ito, I'll be outside."

Chapter 1694

Charlie Wade arrived at the University of Tokyo campus. He admired the strong academic atmosphere, but regretted his lack of formal higher education. His parents had attended Eastcliff and Hillshire Universities; as a child, he often visited them. He'd always planned to attend Eastcliff University, followed by a top business school. This was common among wealthy families to improve their overall abilities. Among Eastcliff's top ten families, all young heirs had university degrees; Charlie Wade was the exception. Even those who immediately joined family businesses often pursued master's degrees later. At 26, he knew returning to school was impossible, a source of regret.

The University of Tokyo was diverse, filled with students from various backgrounds. Initially surprised by the lack of holiday, he realized that after the Meiji Restoration, Japan shifted its New Year celebration to the Gregorian calendar. The university seemed to be on the verge of winter break, students preparing for exams.

Wandering the campus, Charlie Wade thought of Nanako Ito. He was amazed by her strength and academic achievements. Near the library, he saw a poster supporting Nanako Ito in the Aurouss Hill International College Sanda Competition, labeling her "Japan's No. 1," etc. He felt these labels were overly demanding, creating unnecessary pressure. He'd rather they simply say, "Just do your best, we support you regardless." He took a picture of the poster. As it was getting dark, he left the university.

Chapter 1695

A young woman singing a Chinese song (Pu Shu's "Ordinary Road") on the street caught his attention. Many passed by without noticing her. Her guitar case held only a small amount of money. Charlie Wade, realizing she was Chinese, asked, "Are you Chinese?"

She nodded. "I'm from Sichuan Province. Are you Chinese?"

"I'm from Aurouss Hill," he replied. "Are you studying or working in Japan?"

"Studying," she said, pointing to the University of Tokyo. "I sing to help with living expenses."

Charlie Wade gave her about 100,000 yen. She protested, but he left before she could refuse.

Several young Japanese men approached, snatching her guitar. They demanded she leave and stop singing Chinese songs. The girl apologized, but they demanded her money and guitar. She agreed. They took her money, then decided to take her to a bar. She tried to escape, but one man grabbed her.

Passersby watched, but no one interfered. Then, a cold voice said, "Let her go."

Onizuka Ryuji, the man who had taken the guitar, turned to see Charlie Wade, who'd given the girl money. He sneered, mentioning his gang affiliation.

Charlie Wade said indifferently, "I don't care about your gang. Let her go, or I'll do it myself."
