The Amazing Son-in-Law: Chapters 1756-1760
Chapter 1756
After 7:00 a.m., the media will report this matter, spreading rapidly throughout Japan. Failure to save the victims within 24 hours will result in worldwide dissemination. This would scandalize not only the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department but the entire nation. Such a breakdown in law and order, with such a ruthless and powerful murderer, will deter tourists, investors, and even foreign politicians from visiting Tokyo, Japan's capital. A global scandal would create a significant diplomatic crisis.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Zayne, immediately asked, “Are there any detailed autopsy results?”
The chief forensic doctor reported, “Our autopsy reveals that the deceased—over a dozen of Mr. Banks' entourage—all died from sarin poisoning; specifically, liquid sarin poisoning.”
Zayne frowned. “Liquid sarin gas? What do you mean?”
The forensic doctor explained, “At room temperature, sarin is a colorless, oily liquid similar to glycerin. In warfare, it's aerosolized through explosion, causing poisoning through inhalation or skin contact. However, the murderer likely avoided a large-scale explosion, injecting approximately 30 milligrams of liquid sarin using a syringe-like device from a distance.”
The Police Commissioner asked, “So, the ninja dart wasn't used?”
“Correct.”
The Commissioner turned to Zayne. “Mr. Banks, you said the perpetrator is an enemy of the Banks family?”
Zayne, his face grim, replied, “I don't care who the enemy is. My son and daughter were kidnapped in Tokyo! Get them back unharmed!”
Helpless, the Commissioner ordered: “First, intensify the search. Second, release Ito Yuhiko and Takahashi, but keep them under close surveillance to find clues.”
In the interrogation room, upon hearing her release, Maki Takahashi asked, “It’s unsafe; can I stay at the department?”
The officer retorted, “This isn’t a hotel! Leave, or we’ll force you!”
Takahashi, having no choice, returned home under bodyguard escort. Worried about his safety, especially with Teng Lin Zhengzhe and his associates missing, he called Teng Lin Zhengzhe repeatedly, receiving no answer. His anxiety grew. “What’s going on? They should be back from Osaka. Why can’t I reach them?”
He also tried contacting Teng Lin Zhengzhe's junior brothers, but to no avail. He feared the worst: that they, like their four junior colleagues, had been murdered by the mysterious ninjas.
Then, his housekeeper called, urgently stating, “Mr. Takahashi, a mysterious person delivered a ‘gift’!”
“A gift?! What kind of gift?!” Takahashi demanded.
“A truck.”
Chapter 1757
“A truck?! What’s going on?!”
The butler explained, “They parked it outside, claiming it was a gift.”
“And the person?”
“They disappeared after I answered the intercom. The truck remains…”
Takahashi shuddered. Who delivers gifts in a truck, leaving it unattended, especially at this sensitive time? He asked nervously, “Did you check the contents?”
“No, I waited for your return.”
Takahashi exclaimed, “Call the police! It might be a bomb!”
“We tested for explosives and toxins; nothing abnormal was found.”
Relieved, Takahashi breathed a sigh of relief. The home equipment, comparable to airport and customs scanners, was highly accurate. He said, “I’ll be back soon.”
Exhausted from the day's events, Takahashi rubbed his temples.
Ten minutes later, he arrived home to find a refrigerated truck parked outside.
The butler opened the door, saying, “Sir, the truck is locked, the engine is running, and the freezer is active.”
Takahashi mused, “Who would send ice cream in winter?”
His son, Eiji, plaster cast on his arm, sleepily emerged and questioned the truck.
Takahashi shook his head. “I don’t know who sent it.”
Eiji wondered if it was the top-quality bluefin tuna he ordered. The butler clarified that it was a gift for his father. Eiji found it odd that the delivery person left the truck behind.
Both father and son found the situation suspicious. The butler reported the absence of dangers.
“Let’s check it out,” Maki Takahashi decided.
Chapter 1758
The butler instructed servants to open the freezer. Takahashi stepped back nervously.
As the door opened, a white mist billowed out. When the mist cleared, they saw four human-shaped ice sculptures! They were Teng Lin Zhengzhe and his three associates, frozen solid in bizarre poses.
Eiji cried out in fear, mistaking them for wax figures. Takahashi, terrified, screamed for the police.
As the housekeeper reached for his phone, police cars arrived. They'd been secretly following Takahashi and were stunned by this scene.
The lead inspector, after examining the frozen figures, exclaimed, “Living people…frozen solid! This is unbelievable!”
A subordinate asked if they were alive.
“Alive? They’re popsicles!” the inspector snapped. “Call the forensics team!”
He approached the shaken Takahashi. “Mr. Takahashi, are these your subordinates?”
Takahashi nodded, stating, “Members of the Tenglin family.”
“The Tenglin family?! One of the four ninja clans?!” the inspector exclaimed. “Even Teng Lin Zhengzhe…who did you offend?!”
Takahashi, distraught, exclaimed, “How should I know?!”
Chapter 1759
The inspector urged Takahashi to remember if he'd offended anyone. He questioned whether anyone wanted to kill Takahashi or if Takahashi wanted to kill anyone.
Takahashi first thought of Charlie Wade, but dismissed the idea. After Tenglin Quintongtian's disappearance, Teng Lin Zhengzhe had overheard that it wasn't Wade, but other ninjas. He suspected the Ito family's Koka ninjas. But he hadn’t told the police due to lack of evidence.
He believed the Ito family was responsible but understood the police might suspect various ninja clans. Japanese ninja clans are numerous.
He decided against police intervention and planned revenge against Ito Yuhiko.
The forensic team arrived, transporting the bodies to the department. News of the four deaths shocked the entire department. The director was devastated. With Fitz and Zara kidnapped and these deaths, Tokyo felt like a city of sin.
Chapter 1760
While the police frantically searched, Fitz and Zara were secretly transported to Kyoto. Matsumoto's plan was for them to die at Ito's residence, blaming the Ito family and causing a conflict between them and Takahashi, allowing the Matsumoto family to benefit.
Charlie Wade awoke early, noticing a blizzard forecast for Kyoto and Osaka. He visited Kobayashi Pharmaceutical, then borrowed a car from Cameron Isaac to go to Kyoto. Isaac warned about the blizzard, but Wade insisted on going, declining an escort.
He thought about Nanako Ito, driven by sympathy, admiration, or something else, and decided to visit her.
He arrived in Kyoto as the snow intensified. Unaware of the Ito family's location, he asked at a restaurant, learning their mansion is near Nijo Castle.
He hesitated, uncertain how to approach Nanako. He couldn't simply knock, given Ito Yuhiko's money and potential security. He decided to sneak in.
Meanwhile, Nanako Ito enjoyed a snow day, dressed in a kimono and wheelchair-bound, in a secluded courtyard of the Ito family mansion. She thought about Charlie Wade and wondered what he was doing.
