The Amazing Son-in-Law: Chapters 1876-1880
Chapter 1876
Cynthia, speaking arrogantly, extended a finger. "First," she declared, "regarding the Emgrand Group, you can continue to use Doris Young. We've investigated her; she's capable, and the Emgrand Group has thrived under her leadership."
She extended another finger. "Second, your wife, Claire Wilson, and her family. We've investigated the Wilsons. Frankly, they're insignificant compared to the Wade family. They're completely unsuitable as in-laws!"
Disgust evident on her face, Cynthia continued, "I advise you to leave Claire immediately and sever ties. Give them money and send them away, out of the country, to avoid future embarrassment for the Wade family."
Charlie Wade's face darkened. His voice grew colder. "Auntie, my marriage is my business, not yours or the Wade family's. Don't interfere."
Cynthia sighed. "Charlie, don't be arrogant. You're a Wade! You're among the country's wealthiest and most influential. Claire Wilson is beneath you; she's not even worthy to carry your shoes, let alone be your housekeeper!"
Charlie's tone was sullen. "Auntie, she was my wife when I was struggling. I won't divorce her."
Cynthia interrupted, "Charlie, don't be emotional!"
Charlie retorted coldly, "This is about emotions!"
Cynthia exclaimed, "For a wealthy family, feelings are meaningless! Remember my uncle? He treated me well, but once his family's status declined, I left him!"
She continued resentfully, "If not for my grandfather's concerns about my reputation, I would have divorced him long ago. You, a man, don't have those concerns. Divorce Claire, return to Eastcliff, and marry a prominent lady. Your future is limitless!"
Charlie sneered. "I'm more principled than that."
Seeing his refusal, Cynthia insisted, "The Wade family is one of the most powerful in the country! Any woman marrying into our family must have a comparable background. Otherwise, she'll disgrace us!"
Charlie said coldly, "I'm a Wade, but I'm not your puppet. My marriage is my own affair."
"You!" Cynthia slammed the table, rising to her feet. "Charlie Wade! Do you think I'm discussing this?"
"What?" Charlie asked coldly. "Are you forcing a divorce?"
Cynthia shouted, "You're the Wade heir! You must follow the family's arrangements! Do you think the Emgrand Group and the 10 billion yuan were gifts? Disobey, and the family can both support and destroy you!"
Charlie's anger flared. "Don't mention the Emgrand Group and the 10 billion! My father built the Wade family's success through his hard work and strategic decisions! He deserves at least a quarter of the family's assets. 10 billion is nothing!"
His voice grew harsher. "My father dedicated his life to the Wade family, and this is your reward? You forced us out of Eastcliff, and my parents died tragically! I haven't settled this score with you yet!"
Chapter 1877
Cynthia was stunned by Charlie's audacity, particularly his claim to a quarter of the family assets.
"You fool!" she screamed. "Why do you deserve a quarter of the Wade family's assets?!"
Charlie said coldly, "Because I am Charlie Wade! Because my father is Bruce!"
Cynthia retorted, "Your father's been dead for years! You're not worthy!"
Charlie sneered. "My father was more than capable of leading the Wade family! You, however, follow the rules of wealthy families and marry for advantage. A married daughter is considered 'water poured out.' You're no longer a Wade, so stop dictating my life!"
The "water poured out" insult deeply wounded Cynthia. Even after her own divorce, she still relied on the Wade family's wealth. The Wade elders had always reminded her that, being married, she had no claim to the family fortune. She refused to accept this. Her only hope was the Wade family’s wealth. She needed to secure her future before her death.
But Charlie dared to defy her, infuriating her.
"Charlie Wade!" she gritted her teeth. "Behave, and the Wade family will reward you. But disobey, and we can crush you! The Emgrand Group and the 10 billion will be gone!"
Chapter 1878
Cynthia, believing she'd intimidated Charlie, sneered. "First, divorce your wife. Then, return to the Wade family and await your grandfather's orders. Orrin of the Sun family has consolidated his power. His daughter is betrothed to you. Marrying her would greatly benefit the Wade family."
She continued, "Or, consider Zayne Banks' eldest granddaughter. Her mother was a suitor of your father's. A marriage alliance would benefit the Wade family."
"Divorce that woman and pursue the Banks granddaughter first. If that fails, fulfill your engagement with Orrin's daughter."
Charlie chuckled. "So the Wade family wants me to be a pawn?"
Cynthia coldly replied, "It's not a sell-out. Strategic marriages are common among the elite. It benefits both you and the Wade family."
Charlie retorted, "Auntie, since marriage has such advantages, why don't you divorce and pursue Orrin or Zayne? Wouldn't that benefit the Wade family greatly?"
Cynthia felt humiliated, realizing Charlie's apparent submission was a calculated insult.
Enraged, she spat, "You beast! I'm your aunt! How dare you insult me?!"
Charlie said coldly, "Insult? If you were a man, I'd have beaten you."
Cynthia, nearly fainting, clutched her chest.
Charlie stood up, speaking disdainfully. "Tell the old man: I can return the Emgrand Group and the 10 billion anytime. But I will settle the score for my parents' deaths. Everyone responsible will pay. Even him."
"You, you…" Cynthia trembled, pointing at Charlie. "You dare disrespect your grandfather?!"
Charlie replied coldly, "So what? Complain to him."
Cynthia gritted her teeth. "Fine! I'll tell your grandfather everything. Don't blame me if you're ruined."
Charlie scoffed. "You don't deserve a chance. But if I find you involved in my parents' deaths…"
"It's over! It's over!" Cynthia, beside herself, smashed a wine glass, shouting hysterically, "I'll make you regret this!"
Charlie nodded. "Do your worst. I'm waiting." He walked away.
Chapter 1879
Cynthia shouted after him, "Charlie Wade! I'm still here! You dare disrespect me?"
Charlie ignored her. He considered his aunt spoiled and arrogant. He saw her only as a tool of the old man.
He left Sky Garden. Cameron Isaac hurried to him, worried about the consequences of Cynthia's complaint.
Charlie scoffed. "She's just the old man's dog. If he wants to attack me, let him. I only spared her because of our blood ties. But anyone who dares to provoke me or those close to me will face my wrath."
Cameron was worried not about the Wade family's retaliation, but Charlie's potential violent response. If it came to a conflict, the Wade family might not stand a chance.
He drove Charlie partway, then Charlie dismissed him. "You going with me would alert the Wade family. Go check on Cynthia and her next move. Especially, guard against her approaching my wife."
Cameron agreed, understanding the need to protect Charlie's wife, who was unaware of his true identity. Charlie intended to keep it that way until he avenged his parents.
Chapter 1880
Cynthia had wrecked the dining room. Seeing the Sky Garden staff cleaning up, she attacked them, beating and cursing them. She even kicked the foreman, who was three months pregnant. One of the waitresses defended the foreman, leading to further attacks. Cynthia ultimately smashed the waitress's phone.
Cameron Isaac arrived and saw the chaos. He apologized and promised to deal with the employees. Cynthia demanded the employees be fired.
