Chapter 1903
Cameron Isaac knew Cynthia was responsible for something that had gone wrong. If Cynthia had escaped danger, all would be well. However, if she had committed wrongdoing, her comfortable life would end. Furthermore, Charlie Wade's mother-in-law, Elaine Ma, had disappeared with Cynthia. He intensified his search, deploying the entire Shangri-La security team to locate Cynthia and Elaine as quickly as possible. However, the initial clues led to a beauty salon, making an immediate discovery unlikely.
Meanwhile, Charlie Wade had gone to the beauty salon to meet Cameron Isaac. He worried that Cynthia had revealed his identity to Elaine Ma, or that Elaine Ma had been murdered by the kidnappers. He hadn't felt familial affection for Elaine Ma, who had bullied him for over three years, only recently showing a change in behavior. Ideally, he wished Elaine Ma would simply disappear. However, he felt a responsibility toward his wife, Claire Wilson. Claire was kind and filial toward Elaine Ma; her distress at Elaine's disappearance would be immense. Elaine's previous disappearance, even for a few days, had driven Claire to the brink. This time, the worry would be far greater.
With the New Year only two days away, an incident involving Elaine would ruin the family's holiday. Therefore, Charlie Wade desperately hoped to find and rescue Elaine.
Meanwhile, at an abandoned warehouse in the suburbs, Elaine Ma and Cynthia were bound. The Wilson family hadn't allowed Elaine to sleep because they awaited Donald's arrival to inspect their work. This "work," they implied, was easily completed. The Wilsons, having received significant benefits from Donald, hadn't fully obeyed Donald's instructions regarding the Wade family, making Donald insecure. This stemmed from the fact that the Thompson First Villa they inhabited was lent to them by Donald, and his investment in the Wilson Group was conditional and revocable. He could withdraw his funds at any time, leaving the Wilson family destitute. Thus, they sought to please Donald to secure further benefits from the Webb family.
Donald, speeding toward the warehouse, was exhilarated. Despite his efforts to revive the Webb family and his inability to directly confront Charlie Wade, his hatred for Charlie remained undiminished.
