Chapter 1927
Charlie Wade's relationship with Christopher, Harold, and his son was not close, but the news of their broken limbs lessened his anger. He knew the Wilson family better than anyone. While despicable, they weren't heinous villains. Hannah's previous animosity toward Elaine Ma stemmed from an encounter where Christopher and Harold mocked her, causing a mental breakdown that led her to attempt defrauding Elaine Ma.
Christopher and Harold's kidnapping of Elaine Ma—an attempt to avenge Hannah's earlier ordeal at the black coal kiln—was met with some resistance from Elaine. The Wilsons were undeniably bad, but not deserving of death. Furthermore, Charlie disliked his troublesome aunt and felt that killing Christopher and Harold would be too easy on her; letting her simmer in her anger would be a more fitting punishment.
Charlie said, "Christopher and Harold are my wife's uncle and cousin, my brother and nephew. If you kill them, it'll cause a huge scandal—how will our family get through the year?"
Cynthia urged, "Can't we kill them after the New Year?"
Charlie waved his hand. "My wife is soft-hearted. If they die, she'll be very upset. Let them live."
Cynthia, anxious and agitated, exclaimed, "They did this to me! You have to let me get revenge!"
Charlie frowned. "How do you plan to get revenge? They've lost their limbs; they'll be bedridden for months. Isn't that enough?"
"No!" Cynthia insisted. "I won't get over it unless I kill them!"
Charlie roared, "If you can't get over it, then just deal with it!!!"
His shout startled Cynthia. He glared at her and coldly asked, "You started this trouble, threatening to kill others at every turn. Who gave you the right?"
Cynthia, dejected, choked out, "I've never suffered such a loss in my life"
Charlie said coldly, "Consider this a taste of what's to come. If you don't change your ways, you'll continue to suffer." He added irritably, "That's it. Don't breathe a word of this to anyone! Otherwise, you'll face the consequences. Understand?!"
Cynthia, seeing his seriousness, grew apprehensive, realizing she'd pushed her luck too far. Charlie wouldn't forgive her easily.
She dejectedly replied, "Okay I understand"
Charlie nodded and instructed Don Albertt, "Arrange a self-contained house in the city for my aunt. Keep her under 24-hour surveillance for seven days. She is not to leave the house. After seven days, I'll send her to the airport."
Don Albertt immediately agreed, "Master Wade, I'll take care of it immediately."
