Chapter 121

Holding her leg, Loreen saw blood dripping between her fingers. The man hadn't been bluffing. Her mind raced; the thought of removing her pants in front of a stranger was agonizing.

Despite the life-or-death situation, Loreen hesitated. Finally, she succumbed to self-preservation. She didn't want to die, or be crippled.

She looked at the masked man, her face flushing crimson, her heart pounding violently, her body trembling.

She whispered, "Okay, thank you."

Charlie Wade nodded. He knelt, grasped her trousers, and tore them.

Loreen lowered her head, taking a deep breath. Her face burned, her heart hammered against her ribs.

Charlie Wade remained calm. Locating the stab wound on her left leg, he pressed his index and middle fingers on the acupoints. A flow of Reiki emanated from his fingers into the wound. He focused intently on the injury.

He worked swiftly. After treating several acupoints, the bleeding gradually stopped. According to the Apocalyptic Book, he could fully heal Loreen's injuries, reconnect her capillaries and cells, and even close the wound immediately. However, he chose not to overwhelm her.

He used his fingers like acupuncture needles to stop the bleeding and repair the damaged veins and muscles. She only needed treatment for superficial wounds at the hospital.

Loreen's heart pounded as the masked man treated her injury. Remarkably, the pain subsided and the bleeding stopped the moment he touched her leg, leaving her astonished.

She hadn't expected Chinese medicine, dismissed as ineffective by her family, to be more effective than Western medicine.

"Okay, all done," Charlie Wade said flatly, rising without looking back. "Try to stand."

Loreen attempted to stand, shocked to find the bleeding had stopped.

She raised her blushing face and said timidly, "Since you won't tell me your name, may I at least repay your kindness?"

"No thanks," Charlie Wade said firmly. He didn't want to reveal his identity.

"If I can't properly thank you, I'll owe you forever," Loreen insisted. She removed a pendant from her neck. "This necklace was a gift from my grandfather for my coming-of-age ceremony."

It was a platinum chain with a clear pink ruby.

Charlie Wade wanted to refuse, but sensed Reiki emanating from the ruby, and accepted it. He took off his coat, wrapped it around her waist, and said, "I'm sorry about your trousers. I've called the hospital; they'll arrive in a few minutes. You're safe now. I have other things to do. Excuse me."

He disappeared into the bushes.

"Hey, wait…" Loreen called, but he was gone. She heard an ambulance siren.

She looked at the coat, then at the direction he'd vanished, feeling lost and confused. Suddenly, she thought he looked familiar. The figure resembled the chairman!

"Is he the chairman of Emgrand Group?" Loreen's heart skipped a beat. But she hadn't seen his face clearly.

She found a gray-white stone where he'd knelt, inscribed with "tranquility and wealth."

Chapter 122

Who did the stone belong to? Had the masked man dropped it?

Loreen clutched the stone as if it were a priceless jewel. If she never saw him again, it would be her only memento.

The ambulance took Loreen to the hospital. Doctors were shocked to find her injuries were minor, unaware of Charlie Wade's prior intervention. The stab wound should have damaged her hamstring or worse. Yet, aside from the surface wound, the internal veins and tendons were intact, seemingly stronger than before.

The doctor said, "You'll recover in a few days. This is incredible. Did you do anything to the wound?"

Loreen thought of the masked man, but said, "No."

"It's a miracle!" the doctor exclaimed. "I've alerted the police. You can tell them about the attack."

The police arrived swiftly. The attack, involving a weapon in the downtown area and a high-ranking Emgrand Group executive, was taken seriously. An officer recognized the Wilson family and Loreen, informing them of the incident.

Chapter 122 (Continued)

At the Wilson family residence, they discussed what to do. Harold recounted Loreen's ordeal, omitting his role. Girl Wilson saw an opportunity. They would find Loreen and prevent her demise, allowing Harold to create a heroic narrative.

Hearing Loreen was hospitalized, Girl Wilson was disappointed. "It would have been perfect if Harold had been there!" she lamented. "Hurry, let's go to the hospital!"

Harold reluctantly accompanied his family. He prepared a speech, unsure if Loreen would believe him.

Seeing Loreen, Harold feigned surprise. "Loreen, are you alright? I'll call my father and send help!"

"Help?" Loreen's tone was sardonic. "You almost got me killed!"

Harold explained frantically, claiming he'd been the target, believing they wouldn't harm her.

Loreen grunted, turning away. She'd seen through him and wanted distance.

Seeing her silence as acquiescence, Harold noticed the man's coat around her waist. He frowned. "Loreen, where are your trousers? What did they do to you?"

Loreen sighed, irritated. "It's none of your business!"

Girl Wilson approached. "Loreen, tell me everything. Did they…?"

Loreen said indifferently, "They stabbed me. A young man saved me, treated my wound, and gave me his coat because my pants were torn. Is there a problem?"

"A boy?" Girl Wilson was surprised. A young man saving Loreen was a setback for Harold.

Harold asked enviously, "How did he treat you? Did he remove your pants?"

Chapter 123

Harold felt a blow to his head; jealousy consumed him. A stranger had undressed and touched Loreen!

Ignoring Loreen's displeasure, he gritted his teeth. "I don't believe he was there to save you! He wanted to take advantage of you!"

Everyone looked at Loreen. They shared the same thought—a woman undressed before a stranger; it suggested ulterior motives.

Loreen, furious, trembled. She was disgusted by Harold's betrayal and malicious slander. He'd abandoned her and now blamed her!

Loreen glared at Harold. "Harold, he didn't do anything to me. I removed my trousers! It's none of your business! You caused this! You ran away, leaving me to be stabbed, and now you accuse me? Are you even a man?!"

Harold was speechless and ashamed.

Loreen left the hospital, taking a taxi back to her hotel. The Wilsons were stunned. Harold had caused the problem and abandoned Loreen.

Girl Wilson slapped Harold. "What did I tell you? Get close to Loreen! You abandoned her! How could she ever like you?"

"Grandma, I'm sorry," Harold regretted his actions, realizing his mistake and the loss of Loreen.

Chapter 123 (Continued)

Charlie Wade didn't tell his wife about Loreen. Claire was unaware because the Wilsons disliked her family and they didn't live together.

The next morning, Claire received a call from Girl Wilson. "Claire, go to Elite Vault Enterprise and ask for a $10 million credit for building materials. We'll pay once we finalize the Emgrand deal."

Claire protested, knowing Elite Vault didn't offer credit.

Girl Wilson sighed. "The Wilson Group is facing financial troubles. We can't afford the materials. Elite Vault is our only option. Please talk to Daniel Koch. If he agrees, it'll save us!"

Claire reluctantly agreed.

Chapter 124

Claire felt despondent after the call.

Charlie Wade asked, "What's wrong?"

Claire explained Girl Wilson's request.

Charlie Wade suggested, "Why not ask Emgrand Group for a $20 million prepayment?"

Claire was shocked. "How can I do that? They're far above us. It's presumptuous to ask for payment before the project is completed."

(Charlie Wade's inner thoughts: Your husband owns Emgrand Group!)

Claire sighed. "I guess I'll talk to Mr. Koch."

"I'll go with you."

"No, you can't," Claire said. "It's unprofessional for husbands to attend business meetings. Stay home."

Charlie Wade remained silent, understanding his wife's independent nature. He'd support her privately if needed.

After breakfast, Claire scheduled a meeting with Daniel Koch and drove to Elite Vault Enterprise.

Elite Vault was a major building materials supplier. Daniel Koch, though from humble beginnings, had prospered through his wealthy wife's family. He was known as a henpecked husband with no affairs.

Chapter 124 (Continued)

His company was large, occupying hundreds of acres.

Daniel waited in the lobby. He greeted Claire enthusiastically, offering his hand. "Miss Wilson, welcome! I should have sent a car."

Claire shook his hand, but he held on tightly. She pulled away, glaring at him. "Mr. Koch…"

Daniel chuckled nervously. "I'm sorry! I've heard how beautiful you are, and I'm quite captivated. I apologize for startling you."

Claire was relieved by his frankness and apology.

Chapter 125

Daniel led Claire to his office. Once the door closed, lust flickered in his eyes. He locked the door and invited her to sit.

Claire felt uncomfortable. She sat opposite him, hands folded.

Daniel smiled. "Miss Wilson, why are you here?"

Claire explained their capital problems and requested credit for the initial materials.

Daniel frowned. "Miss Wilson, we don't offer credit. It's always payment first, then delivery…"

Claire explained their partnership with Emgrand Group, assuring him of payment.

Daniel laughed. "Yes, but I have a strict no-credit policy. Do you know why?"

Claire shook her head.

"Clients promised payment after receiving the goods. I have over $300 million in outstanding credit!"

Claire was stunned. The Wilson Group's total assets were just over $100 million.

Daniel shrugged. "I had to eliminate credit. You can buy the materials, but you must pay upfront."

Claire's request was rejected. She stood. "I'm sorry to bother you, Mr. Koch. I'll see if we can raise the cash."

As she stood, Daniel said, "Miss Wilson, wait." He stood. "What I said applies to typical clients. You're different!"

Claire frowned, confused. "What do you mean?"

Daniel looked at Claire seductively. He found her breathtakingly beautiful, far exceeding his wife's appearance. He wondered why such a woman married a loser like Charlie Wade. What did he have that he didn't?

This revised version improves grammar, punctuation, and flow, making the passage more readable and engaging. It also removes unnecessary repetition and clarifies certain ambiguous phrasing.
