Chapter 2005
Seeing Jacob Wilson run away, Lady Wilson was furious. Her heart cried out in grief and anger. "What kind of son is this? You don't care if your own mother gets beaten up? Is this even human? It's beastly!"
Unbeknownst to her, the woman across the street was terrified. She didn't understand the relationship between Jacob Wilson and Old Madam Wilson, but she knew they were mother and son. Terror-stricken, she thought, "This old woman and that man are clearly a couple, yet they live in separate villas—the best ones, A04 and A05! What kind of family is this? How much money do they have? What's going on here?"
Regretting her earlier actions, she nervously whispered an apology. "Lady, I'm so sorry. I didn't expect you to live here. It's all my fault. Please forgive me."
Lady Wilson scolded angrily, "You slapped me and that's all you have to say?"
The woman quickly pleaded, "What can I do to make it right? Whip me! I won't fight back, no matter how many times!"
Lady Wilson gritted her teeth, wanting to strike the woman. However, she thought, "While that would feel good, it won't solve anything. Blackmailing her for money would be better!"
Lady Wilson said coldly, "You insulted and slapped me. You owe me compensation."
The woman nodded. "You're right! I'll make amends. Tell me how much."
Lady Wilson was about to demand 10,000, but hesitated. She wasn't the wealthy woman she once was. Now, she struggled to get by, even working a day at the supermarket for just a hundred dollars. Ten thousand was unthinkable.
She worried, "If I ask for 10,000, she might call the police and accuse me of extortion. I could be arrested! A hundred dollars a day is hard-earned. A hundred for a slap isn't extortion, right?"
Lady Wilson said sternly, "I'm old. This could be a big problem, but I'm generous. One hundred dollars, and we're done."
"Onehundred?!" The woman's eyes widened. She had assumed Lady Wilson was wealthy and feared serious consequences for the assault. She was overjoyed. "No problem! I'll pay you!" She pulled out a hundred-dollar bill, handing it to Lady Wilson. Pointing to the security guard, she added, "Lady, we have witnesses. You said a hundred would settle this, and I'm paying now. Don't bother me again."
Lady Wilson, equally relieved, accepted the money.
