The Amazing Son-in-Law Chapter 146
Early the following morning, Charlie Wade prepared for the auction. Jacob Wilson hadn't slept well the previous night, stressed about the Quinton family. He continued nagging Charlie in the living room.
Charlie asked, "Daddy, I read the unique prize will be auctioned at the Prize Pavilion today. Am I right?"
"Yes," Jacob replied promptly. "I heard it's a priceless treasure."
Jacob then pulled Charlie aside. "Son-in-law, please don't get any ideas about this treasure."
Charlie understood his father-in-law worried he'd use the Quintons' money. He smiled. "Father, don't worry. I'll just look and not bid."
"That's great," Jacob replied, relieved. "But even if you wanted to bid, you wouldn't have the chance."
"Why?"
"I inquired about the auction yesterday. The owner of Enigma Court will also be attending, interested in the final treasure."
Charlie was surprised. "The owner of Enigma Court will be here?"
Little was known about Enigma Court. Its owner, Jack Yaleman, was a renowned feng shui master. Celebrities paid exorbitant fees for his fortune readings. He'd also given a televised lecture on metaphysics. A fortune reading cost at least seven figures. His prices for Enigma Court items were tripled, yet they were all genuine.
Rumor had it his predictions were incredibly accurate. He'd predicted a famous celebrity couple's divorce in November, which no one believed at the time. They divorced in mid-November.
Since then, Enigma Court's reputation soared. Anyone in the entertainment industry feared his name. Enigma Court, located downtown, was an expensive property.
Charlie hadn't expected Jack's attendance. This prize must be exceptionally valuable. He asked, "What is this final treasure?"
"I don't know. We wouldn't be able to afford it anyway."
Jacob continued, and Charlie's phone rang. It was Jasmine.
"Mr. Wade, my car is outside. I'm picking you up; it's on the way."
Jasmine, fearing another incident, decided to collect Charlie and his father-in-law.
Leaving the house, they saw a large red Bentley gleaming in the sunlight. Jasmine, in a tight red dress, leaned against the car, sunglasses on, her long hair cascading over her shoulders. Removing her sunglasses, she greeted them. "Hello Uncle Wilson and Mr. Wade. I'm also going to the auction at Prize Pavilion, so I decided to pick you up."
"Oh, thank you, Miss Jasmine," Jacob acknowledged her immediately. "You are so kind."
"Please get in," Jasmine politely replied, opening the car door.
Jacob was incredulous. The eldest Moore daughter had opened the car door for his son-in-law!

They arrived at the event center, a circular-domed building. The outer circle housed shops selling various goods, and the auction house was located inside. Built last year, it was spectacular.
Charlie and Jasmine took the glass elevator to the sixth floor, arriving at a lavish auction hall with antique calligraphy and paintings. The auction table sat center stage on a red carpet, surrounded by sofas and tables laden with wine and fruit. Prize Pavilion had clearly invested heavily; the setup likely cost over a million dollars.
Jasmine's seat was in the front row. A commotion erupted behind them; a crowd of people pushed into the hall, bodyguards leading the way.
Jasmine exclaimed, "Oh, is Mr. Yaleman here?"
The crowd surrounded a middle-aged man in a blue suit with a cold, arrogant demeanor.
Charlie observed, "So, this is the esteemed Mr. Yaleman. He has quite a presence"
Jack wrote on a yellow piece of paper and gave an amulet to a man beside him. "It seems we're fated to meet. I'm gifting you this peace amulet. It will keep you safe, and your family will prosper."
"Thank you, Mr. Yaleman." The man was stunned and flattered, showing off the amulet. "Mr. Yaleman's amulet is amazing! My business has thrived thanks to his talismans."
Others enviously watched. Some begged for amulets, but Jack ignored them. His assistant shouted, "Do you think anyone can get Mr. Yaleman's amulet? They cost at least two hundred thousand dollars each!"
Silence fell before someone yelled, "It's rare Mr. Yaleman comes to Aurouss Hill! I'll pay two hundred thousand for a talisman!" Others joined in, even offering to buy multiple amulets.
Jack's assistant directed them to line up. It was chaos.
Charlie said, "What kind of peace amulet is that? So expensive! It's a great money-making scheme."
Jack, hearing this, turned to Charlie, eyebrows furrowed. Pushing through the crowd, he approached Charlie. "My friend, did you just comment on my peace talismans?"
Charlie replied casually, "I just don't think any peace talisman should be worth that much."
Someone in the crowd shouted, "Who do you think you are? Mr. Yaleman is selling them affordably at two hundred thousand dollars!"
"You can get the same talisman for two dollars at the temple," another person added.
Jack snorted, glaring at Charlie. "You can eat rice anytime, but you shouldn't spout nonsense here. People speak without reason because they pretend to know things beyond their understanding." He then walked into the auction hall. Charlie remained unconcerned.

Jasmine felt uncomfortable. "Mr. Wade, please don't take it to heart. Mr. Yaleman is rather sensitive."
Charlie shook his head. "Let's go inside."
Finn Baxendale, the owner of Treasure Pavilion, gave the opening speech, and the auction began. Twice as many attendees were present compared to the last auction.
Two women presented the first item: an antique copper incense burner emitting a fragrant white haze. The auctioneer described it: "A Reverse Incense Burner, one of the king's treasures. Its manufacturing method is lost to time."
His assistant, in a cheongsam, lit the incense. White smoke cascaded down like a waterfall, highlighting the cranes on the burner. A refreshing scent filled the hall.
Charlie nodded. "This is genuine ambergris from a sperm whale. Almost impossible to find handcrafted incense like this nowadays."
The auctioneer began the bidding at 800,000 dollars, with increments of 100,000. It eventually sold for 1.6 million dollars.
Several other valuable antiques were auctioned. The atmosphere was intense. Jacob Wilson watched excitedly, wishing he could participate. Charlie showed no interest in the items, finding them of little value to him.
The assistant presented a necklace of purple pearls. "These natural purple pearls are from the East China Sea. Only one in a thousand pearls is this color."
The starting bid was 400,000 dollars. Charlie immediately bid 500,000.
Jacob's eyelids twitched. "What are you doing? It's probably worth only tens of thousands."
Charlie thought of Claire. "I think Claire would look beautiful in it."
Jacob fell silent. No one else bid. As the auctioneer was about to strike the gavel, a voice called out: "600,000 dollars!"
Charlie saw Adam Quinton sneering. "Sorry, but I want this necklace, too!"
Charlie frowned. Wasn't Graham supposed to have kept him at home?
The Amazing Son-in-Law Chapter 149
Adam had endured a miserable few days, beaten by his uncle and confined to the house. His love for antiques compelled him to attend the auction. He hadn't expected to see Charlie.
He disdained Charlie, believing his uncle was deceived by him. He dared not confront Charlie directly, so when Charlie bid, he countered to test him.
Charlie looked at Adam and turned back to the auctioneer. "700,000 dollars!"
Adam followed: "800,000 dollars!"
Jacob urged, "Charlie, forget it. No point fighting him."
Charlie grinned. "Watch me play with him." He raised his hand: "8 million dollars!"
The hall fell silent. Adam was stunned. Why would Charlie bid 8 million? Was he crazy, or did he have too much money?
Charlie grinned. "Mr. Quinton, your turn!"
Adam coughed. "Do you think I'm insane? Why would I pay 8 million for this necklace?"
He was reluctant to spend 8 million; his uncle would break his legs! It was a waste of money.
Charlie said disdainfully, "If you can't afford it, admit it. What's with the long explanation?"
The auctioneer dropped the gavel. "Eight million dollars. Sold. Congratulations to Mr. Wade!"
The assistant brought a card machine. "Mr. Wade, please pay."
All eyes were on Charlie. Adam sneered. "Charlie Wade, swipe your card. Let's see how you'll pay 8 million!"
Charlie smiled, produced Graham's black card, and swiped it successfully. No password needed.
The assistant handed him the receipt. "Mr. Wade, your necklace will be delivered before the auction ends."
"Perfect!" Charlie replied.
Everyone was stunned. Charlie was truly wealthy! He'd spent 8 million on a necklace worth 700,000!
Charlie looked at Adam, smiling. "Mr. Quinton, are you happy now?"
Laughter erupted. "I think Mr. Quinton can't afford it because he's caused so much trouble for his family!"
Adam's face burned. He had been outsmarted!
He gritted his teeth. "Charlie Wade, I won't lose to you on the next item!"
Charlie nodded indifferently. "Okay, let's compete for the next item." Adam didn't know about Charlie's black card from his uncle.
The Amazing Son-in-Law Chapter 150
A semi-finished topaz jade was presented; half was embedded in rock to prove its authenticity. The starting bid was 800,000 dollars. Charlie felt it was perfect for Graham to dispel the evil spirit from his house, and bid 900,000.
Adam's familiar voice followed: "One million dollars!"
Charlie countered, bidding higher with each round. The price skyrocketed to 2 million dollars under Adam's intentional bidding. The audience anticipated another show.
Charlie raised his hand slowly. "Twenty million dollars!"
The hall gasped. Adam's face was hideous. Was Charlie throwing money away?
Adam hesitated. Should he follow? Eighteen million was a lot to lose, but refusing meant losing face. He gritted his teeth and bid 20.1 million.
Charlie smiled and bid 30 million dollars.
The crowd roared. Adam nearly collapsed. Thirty million for a piece of jade? His family would kill him!
Charlie tested Adam. "Mr. Quinton, aren't you going to continue bidding?"
Adam was desperate. The auctioneer called out the bid. The crowd urged Adam to continue, mocking him for backing down.
Charlie grinned. "Mr. Quinton, if you don't bid, you'll lose again!"
