The Amazing Son-in-Law Chapter 151

Everyone watched Adam. He hesitated before finally deciding reason over impulse.

"I quit!" he declared furiously.

Scoffs and jeers followed: "Hal!" "Lousy!" "What a shame!" "Such humiliation!"

Everyone scolded and teased Adam, laughing at his expense. Embarrassed, he didn't know where to hide. He regretted his actions and his presence; otherwise, he wouldn't have been so humiliated.

Furious and self-conscious, Adam soon changed his mind. His anger intensified when he saw Charlie Wade laughing. He rushed toward Charlie.

"Wade! Are you doing this deliberately?"

Charlie took a sip of red wine. "No one forced you to bid against me. You chose to, so why are you angry now?"

Jasmine added coldly, "Mr. Quinton, auction rules are clear. If you can't afford to bid, you shouldn't be here."

Adam gritted his teeth but didn't challenge Jasmine. "Just you wait!" he yelled, pointing at Charlie before returning to his seat.

Charlie merely watched Adam, thinking how difficult it must be for the Quinton family to have him. He then used his black card to pay for the jade, under everyone's gaze. It was Graham's money, so Charlie felt no pain.

Charlie wondered what Graham would do if he learned Adam was responsible for the high cost. He'd probably beat Adam again. That would be interesting.

About an hour later, the auction neared its end. Adam hadn't bid on anything else, likely fearing Charlie would outbid him again. Assistants struggled to push a large cart onstage.

Charlie held his breath, sensing a strong, mystical aura. Mr. Yaleman, at the next table, also stared intently. This was the final treasure.

Finn Baxendale revealed the treasure, eliciting sighs of disappointment. The cart contained a large, ragged piece of coral with seaweed and shells attached. Murmurs filled the hall; no one understood why Treasure Pavilion would end the auction with this broken stone.

Finn capitalized on the moment, explaining, "Everyone, please be quiet! This is the final item!"

"This clam formed naturally on the seabed. Experts have determined it's hundreds, possibly thousands of years old, having been submerged after its death. The shell displays a unique 'T&*' symbol, making it a distinct treasure."

He had an assistant clean the coral. A palm-sized area revealed a golden-red, translucent shell with a beautiful pattern. The audience gasped.

The price of clams is usually measured in grams, ranging from thirty to fifty thousand dollars, with lifespans typically between twenty and one hundred years. This clam, however, was centuries old, a rare find. Its golden-red hue, translucent shell, and unique pattern made it a prized treasure among clams.

The starting price: nine million dollars.

The Amazing Son-in-Law Chapter 152

Bidding began; the price quickly reached twelve million dollars. Many dropped out, but those who understood its value continued bidding.

Jack suddenly stood, "I bid fifteen million dollars!" He turned, bowed, and said, "Friends, I'm here for this clam. I hope you'll let me have it. I'll give everyone a peace talisman as thanks."

Most guests, business owners aware of Jack's reputation, dared not offend him. He could ruin their finances or families. The talisman, worth two hundred thousand dollars, made the trip worthwhile, even for those unhappy about the situation.

Finn, though unhappy, maintained a calm expression. Auction rules dictate the highest bidder wins, but Jack was bending the rules. Fifteen million was insignificant to him, but this would damage Treasure Pavilion's reputation and the auction market. He knew better than to anger Jack and decided to concede.

Jack, initially arrogant, couldn't contain his excitement. He'd flown to Aurouss Hill specifically for this clam, overcoming obstacles to finally obtain it. Fifteen million was nothing; possessing this clam meant success.

Silence fell; no one dared bid against him. He was the master. Until a pale voice cut through the quiet:

"I'll pay thirty million dollars!"

Everyone stared in shock. It was Charlie Wade again, the casually dressed young man who'd twice outbid Adam. He simply swiped his black card. No one expected him to challenge Jack.

Jack glared at Charlie. Adam stood, rubbing his eyes in disbelief. Jasmine was also surprised Charlie would bid against Jack. She knew his expertise in antiques, but not his wealth. She feared Jack's wrath but wondered at Charlie's courage.

Jacob quickly grabbed Charlie's sleeve, "Charlie, what are you doing? Sit down!"

"Dad, I know what I'm doing." Charlie calmly raised his head.

Adam coldly questioned, "Charlie Wade, why are you contesting Mr. Yaleman's treasure?"

Charlie smirked, "This is an auction. Don't you understand the rules? You should just sit there and shut your mouth. Aren't you ashamed of embarrassing yourself twice today?"

Adam, ashamed, sat down without replying. Jack glared at Charlie.

Jack was furious. Everyone respected him, yet this young man was so arrogant, repeatedly belittling him. He must have a death wish. The audience was stunned. Who dared to rebuke Jack, a Feng Shui master with countless ways to kill without leaving a trace?

Despite his anger, Jack remained calm, wanting the clam at a lower price. He smiled, "Friend, I know we've had a misunderstanding, but this is excessive. To bid against me because of a minor misunderstanding is vengeful, wouldn't you say?"

He aimed to secure the clam for fifteen million. Direct confrontation would drive the price beyond thirty million, more than he wanted to spend. He hoped Charlie would withdraw his bid, allowing for later retribution.

Charlie saw through his tactics. "Stop the nonsense, I'm interested in this clam. If you can't afford my price, withdraw!"

The situation escalated. The young man dared ask Jack to withdraw… That's going too far.

Jack's expression turned cold, but to save money, he remained gentle. "I truly want this clam. Can we make a deal?"

Charlie flatly responded, "Why should I? Do I know you?" He added, "Can you afford to bid against me?"

Jack's face contorted; no one dared speak to him like that! This young man was younger than his grandchildren! His patience snapped. He replied coldly, "Unbelievable! Mr. Yaleman is disrespected! Fine, fair competition it is! Let's see how wealthy you are!"

He raised his hand, "Fifty million dollars!"

Whispers filled the hall. The auction resembled a gambling den; the atmosphere was electrifying. It was all about money; the wealthiest wins.

Jack believed a slow battle would prolong the fight. He wanted to intimidate Charlie with an insurmountable price: fifty million dollars, enough to dissuade him.

Charlie's expression remained steady. "One hundred million dollars!"

The auction price soared. In minutes, it increased tenfold—a historic auction moment.

Adam yelled, "Charlie Wade! Do you have that much money, or are you pretending?"

Charlie laughed, "Yes, I have the money. Unexpected, isn't it?"

The Amazing Son-in-Law Chapter 154 (Continued)

Adam's face turned red. "You bastard! How dare you swindle the Quinton family's money! I'll crush you!"

Jack turned to Adam, "Mr. Quinton, do you know him?"

Adam grumbled, "He's the Wilson family's son-in-law. He's jobless, living off his wife. Recently, he conned my uncle into giving him money…"

"Is that so?" Jack raised an eyebrow, feeling confident. "Boy, don't be arrogant. One hundred million… are you sure you can afford it?"

Charlie's face was cool. "Don't worry about my finances. If you want to fight, keep bidding. Otherwise, shut up and withdraw."

Jack couldn't contain himself. "Boy! You're looking for death!"

Charlie chuckled, "Looking for death? You're the fool!"

Jack's limit was reached. He yelled, "Give me what I want! Or the treasure will be meaningless when you're dead!"

Finn's expression changed; Jack was breaking rules and damaging Treasure Pavilion's reputation. His face turned blue, but he dared not defy the Feng Shui master.

Charlie smiled, "If you want to kill me, wait till the auction ends. I'm bidding one hundred million. If you want it, keep bidding."

Jasmine was stunned. Even the Moore family couldn't handle Jack. She couldn't understand Charlie's brazenness. She felt her heart pound; everything was over.

Jack's face hardened. Charlie stood firm. But Charlie was right; to get the clam, he had to continue bidding. But one hundred million…

Everyone watched Jack. He was furious but, for the treasure, he calmed himself, speaking softly,

"Friend, if I offended you, I apologize. It wasn't intentional. Please forgive me. This clam is important to me. Please, let me have it. I'll return the favor!"

His eyes flickered; he couldn't believe this boy dared humiliate him. Later, he would teach him a lesson!

Charlie faintly replied, "I'm sorry, but it's important to me too. I can't let you have it. And, as I said, you're a bully, and your favor means nothing."

Jack broke. He would find a way to eliminate Charlie after the auction!

The audience sighed; they didn't expect this young man to push Jack this far.

The auctioneer dropped the gavel. Charlie won the clam for one hundred million dollars.

Jack glared bitterly at Charlie before storming out. He wanted to kill Charlie, but circumstances prevented it. He would take his revenge later.

Jasmine warned Charlie, "Mr. Yaleman isn't ordinary. He won't give up easily. Be careful, protect yourself and your family."

Charlie smiled, "I'm afraid he won't come for me."

The Amazing Son-in-Law Chapter 155

One hundred million dollars for a clam. Everyone thought Charlie was crazy, but he didn't care.

On the way home, Charlie told Jacob not to worry; the Quinton family authorized the one hundred million. He didn't want Jacob to fear the Quintons.

Home, Charlie examined the clam. Claire wasn't home yet. The clam was roughly the size of a tire, cleaned and revealing a golden-red, translucent shell. He easily broke it into pieces.

He examined a piece, finding three white pearls attached to the inside of the shell. These were Holy Pearls of the Sea, one of Buddhism's Seven Treasures. Their spiritual power was enhanced by being within the clam shell. Only clams over a century old possess such powers, absorbing the essence of the ocean. They're extremely rare. That's why Charlie bought it regardless of cost. He found three!

Charlie used the Lightning-Struck Dragon Blood Wood and Reiki to imprint handprints according to the Apocalyptic Book. A powerful breath emanated from the wood. The Holy Pearl absorbed this breath, glowing golden. He chanted, perfecting the pearl's form.

He used pearls from the purple pearl pendant he won, combining them with clam shards and a Holy Pearl into a bracelet. He made a stun talisman from another pearl for Graham, confident it would help the Quinton family against the ghoul.

He still had many clam shards. He decided to create a Thunder Order, a low-level magic tool for summoning thunder and rain.

He heard sounds from the living room—Claire was home. He hid the remaining shards and went out, bracelet in hand.

He found Claire looking helplessly at Elaine, who was wearing the jade bracelet Graham gave her.

Elaine was ecstatic. "Claire, this bracelet is fantastic! Everyone praised it! I feel so thrilled!"

Claire looked helpless. "Mom! This is the bracelet Charlie got! How could you wear it without saying anything? I thought I'd lost it!"

Elaine replied, "I'm your mother! I'm happy with the attention!"

Charlie intervened, "Claire, it's okay. Mom can keep it. I made a new bracelet for you."

"What bracelet?" Elaine asked, taking it from Charlie's hand. Seeing it was just pearls and clam shells, she tossed it to Claire. "Oh, another worthless thing!"
