Chapter 2049

Rueben, gazing out the window at the river, smiled faintly. "Mr. Hashimoto," he said, "I understand my sister's negotiations aren't progressing smoothly."

Hashimoto chuckled. "Your sister's expectations are rather high. How can she expect to cooperate with New Japan Railway and still demand a 51% controlling stake? Moreover, Lord Moore, you offered me a far better deal!"

Rueben smiled. "Naturally. Women can be… petty. But Mr. Hashimoto, with our full cooperation, I'll give New Japan Railway 51% of the shares. I'll privately give you an additional 9% of my remaining 49%."

Hashimoto was visibly excited. "Lord Moore, you're incredibly generous! That leaves you with only 40%!"

Rueben remained calm. "40% is inconsequential. This isn't about money; it's about forging a friendship with Mr. Hashimoto."

Hashimoto smiled. "Lord Moore is exceedingly generous! However, what are our chances of success?"

Rueben spoke seriously. "As long as you can keep my sister in Tokyo, success is guaranteed—100%!"

Hashimoto hesitated. "Lord Moore, it's not a lack of trust, but I understand that before your sister inherited the Moore family headship, your grandfather held that position. If I keep your sister in Tokyo, will you inevitably succeed him?"

Rueben sneered. "My grandfather is quite elderly. Even if he desired the headship, he's far too frail. He's barely able to eat, let alone rule." He added, "And Mr. Hashimoto, rest assured, this is a commitment I will see through. Even if my own family stands in my way, I will act decisively. So, as long as you cooperate, I won't let you down!"

Hashimoto smacked his lips. "Lord Moore is truly courageous and insightful, but I have a concern I should mention upfront."

"Please, Mr. Hashimoto," Rueben urged.

Hashimoto spoke plainly. "Lord Moore, I can help you with your sister, but you must uphold your promise afterward. Otherwise, this conversation could reach the Moore family, or even your country's police."

Rueben responded immediately. "Mr. Hashimoto, don't worry. I will fulfill my promise completely."

Hashimoto smiled slightly. "In that case, Lord Moore, await the good news."

The following day, the third day of the Lunar New Year, Jasmine arrived at Nippon Steel to continue negotiations with Hashimoto Kensen.

Having spent the previous night devising strategies to take down Nippon Steel, Jasmine had multiple plans prepared.

Once seated at the negotiation table, she presented her first proposal. She maintained her demand for a 51% controlling stake, but offered to adjust the profit split to 40/60 in favor of New Japan Railway for the first five years, then to 55/45 after five years.
