Chapter 156

Claire Wilson picked up the bracelet and asked, "Charlie Wade, you made this yourself?"

"Yes," Charlie replied. "This pearl and clam-shell locket calms nerves and helps with sleep. Wearing it regularly will also help prevent illness. It was rushed, so the workmanship is a little rough. I promise to make you a more beautiful bracelet later."

Before he finished, Claire smiled. "Thank you, Charlie. I love it."

"I'm glad you like it," Charlie said, sighing in relief.

The jade bracelet he'd given her previously was valuable, but she hadn't worn it much. Claire was simple and informal; she didn't care for flashy jewelry. Charlie could tell she genuinely liked this handmade bracelet.

Elaine Ma muttered, "It's not even gold or jade. Just shells and pearls. What's the use?"

Charlie smiled; he didn't want to argue. It was fine if Claire didn't know its value. If she knew it was a magical artifact worth billions, she might not wear it.

After giving Claire the bracelet, Charlie went to find a courier to send the stun amulet and return the black card to Graham, providing a satisfactory explanation.

At the Quinton estate, Jack sat on the couch, gloomy. He hadn't spoken since entering. His goal was to obtain the Holy Pearls of the Sea within the clam, creating enchanted artifacts for profit. He hadn't anticipated Charlie Wade's interference.

Adam stood respectfully beside him. The Quintons knew Jack's reputation from Enigma Court and welcomed him professionally. Graham greeted Jack warmly, stating, "The Quinton family is fortunate to have you."

Jack took a sip of tea, placed the cup down, and said, "I met Mr. Quinton at the auction; he invited me to assess your family's fortune."

Graham was prepared to scold Adam for leaving, but Jack's presence lessened his anger. "Mr. Yaleman, please make yourself at home."

Jack nodded. "If I'm not mistaken, the Quinton family has suffered misfortune for two years. Someone has contacted something harmful."

He glanced around the mansion, sighing. "The Quinton family's fortune is at risk. If this continues, the family will be ruined."

Graham paled, pleading, "Mr. Yaleman, you're an Enigma Court expert. We've suffered greatly. Please help!"

The Quinton family was shocked. Jack was indeed an expert. Graham, impatient for Charlie Wade's response, felt Jack was his lifeline. "Mr. Yaleman, do you have a solution?"

"Yes. Someone has disrupted the house's feng shui, accelerating the family's decline. If this continues, the entire family will die within six months!"

Chapter 157

"What? A threat to the family?" Graham was shocked. Charlie Wade was the only one who'd recently altered the Quinton family's feng shui. Graham was impressed with Charlie's abilities. "Mr. Yaleman, are you sure? His name is Mr. Wade."

Jack snorted. "Some claim to be gods, tricking the ignorant! If you continue trusting him, I'll leave!"

"Mr. Yaleman, please stay!" Graham panicked. "Enlighten me. What's wrong with his methods?"

Jack pointed toward the hall. "Someone bring me a bowl of water."

Graham quickly ordered water. Jack dipped his finger in the water, added amulets, and splashed the water towards Graham's eyes.

Graham recoiled, seeing a strange black smoke covering the estate, lifeless gray smoke above the family, their faces pale and zombie-like.

Jack grunted. "I'm showing you the Quinton family's future. You will all die soon!"

Terrified, Graham whispered, "What should I do?"

"Fate brought me here. I'll help." Jack produced a peace talisman and gave it to Graham. The vision disappeared as Graham took the talisman.

"This this" Graham stammered, "Mr. Yaleman, you're incredible! Save us! I'll pay anything!"

"Saving people is my purpose. I'm here to provide peace." Jack gave Graham more amulets. "Give these to your family to carry. This will remove your misfortune."

Graham asked, "How can I repay you?"

Jack waved his hand. "Helping someone overcome misfortune is its own reward. I don't want your money. But refuse anyone trying to sell you expensive magic tools."

Adam immediately spoke, "I told you Charlie Wade is a fraud! He took our money and doesn't know what he's doing!"

Aurora frowned, sensing Jack was lying. Charlie Wade, though reserved, didn't seem malicious; he gave her a sense of safety and warmth.

Chapter 158

Graham glared at Adam, then respectfully addressed Jack, "Thank you for your advice." Jack departed.

Adam immediately said, "Second Uncle, Mr. Yaleman is a renowned master. How can a fraud like Charlie Wade compare? He helped us without taking a penny!"

"Mr. Yaleman didn't take a dime, but Charlie Wade cheated us out of a fortune! He spent over one hundred million on a broken clam! It's a fraud! Second Uncle, why did you give him so much money? If this gets out, Aurouss Hill will see us as fools!"

Graham was doubtful. He trusted Jack, and couldn't ignore the vision. Importantly, Jack took no money, unlike Charlie Wade. The more he thought, the more suspicious Charlie Wade became.

The butler knocked, delivering an express package. Inside was a small shell amulet on a red stringโ€”from Charlie Wade. A note read: "Stun talisman. Hang it in the main hall to dispel the ghoul."

Adam cursed. "Darn it, Second Uncle! Charlie Wade is fooling you! A broken clam shell from any tourist trap! Do you think this will help?"

"Do you really think this broken shell is worth one hundred million? He doesn't care about you! Sending it by courier shows he lacks the guts to face you! Why else would he do this?"

Adam yelled, "Second Uncle, let's beat up Charlie Wade to get a refund! Otherwise, we'll suffer a huge loss!"

"Shut up and let me think," Graham said, rubbing his temples. He wasn't sure of the talisman's power. He gathered the family. "This is a matter of life and death. I'll see Charlie Wade tomorrow. Until then, carry Mr. Yaleman's amulets!"

"Yes!" Adam gritted his teeth. "That Charlie Wade has hurt me and our family."

"Are you sure you can handle it?" Graham frowned. "If you go, bring bodyguards. Find Charlie Wade's location."

"Remember," Graham cautioned, "I don't want trouble. Don't act recklessly!"

Adam agreed. Graham continued, "Though the Quintons aren't the most powerful, I won't tolerate being tricked. I'll strike back! I must find out if Charlie Wade is a fraud."

Chapter 159

After leaving, Jack planned his revenge on Charlie Wade and to build a following in Aurouss Hill, using Charlie as a scapegoat.

Charlie, buying vegetables, received a call from Jasmine. She informed him that Jack had invited several metaphysics masters to a reception at the White family manor and wanted Charlie to attend.

"The White family? Who are they?"

"A middle-class family with two sons, Gerald and Kevin. They asked Mr. Yaleman for help with their feng shui, and he invited many masters, likely to retaliate against you for taking the clam."

Charlie grinned. "He's trying to set me up. But I'll attend. I want to see his tricks."

Jasmine agreed to pick him up.

Chapter 160

The White family estate was magnificent. Many guests were present, including Zeke White (Kevin's father), Jack, Travis Lane (Lancaster's richest man), and Matthew Gibson. Zeke glared coldly at Charlie.

Finn introduced Charlie to the group. Zeke dismissively called Charlie a fraud, highlighting Jack's modesty. The guests felt awkward.

Jack spoke, silencing the room. Jasmine anticipated Jack targeting Charlie but was shocked by the tense atmosphere.

Charlie sat impassively. Zeke announced the reason for the reception: for the masters to meet and test their abilities. A competition would be held with a five-million-dollar prize and a fifty-thousand-dollar consolation prize. The winner could also choose to take something from the loser. The winner would command respect and authority in the metaphysics world.

Charlie sneered, recognizing Jack's true intentions: to dominate the field. The guests murmured, realizing Jack's attempt to control the metaphysics circle.
