Chapter 2058
Master Moore was preparing for bed. Since taking the Rejuvenation Pill, his strength had increased with age, making him even more appreciative of his health. He’d adopted a regimen of early rising, regular exercise, and early bedtimes.
A call from Charlie Wade interrupted him. He answered, “Master Wade, what is it? It’s very late.”
Charlie Wade said, “Master Moore, I’m worried about Jasmine. I can’t reach her.”
“Jasmine?” Moore exclaimed. “I spoke with her this evening. She’s in Tokyo, negotiating with the New Japan Railway.”
Charlie Wade explained, “She sent me a voice message a few minutes ago mentioning the afterlife. I called back, but I can’t reach her. I fear she’s had an accident.”
“An accident?!” Master Moore sat up abruptly. “Master Wade, did she mention any specific problems in her message?”
“No,” Charlie Wade replied. “That’s what worries me. It felt like a farewell.”
Master Moore said anxiously, “I’ll contact her associates immediately.”
“Please, let me know immediately if you hear anything!”
Master Moore hung up and called Jasmine. As Charlie Wade had said, her phone went straight to voicemail. His heart sank. He then called Clarice, Jasmine’s assistant and close confidante. If anything had happened, Clarice would know. To his growing alarm, Clarice’s phone was also unreachable.
Panic set in. He called Rueben: “Rueben, come to my room immediately! Something’s happened to Jasmine!”
A minute later, a frantic Rueben arrived, asking, “Grandpa, what’s wrong with Jasmine?!”
Master Moore said nervously, “She’s missing! I can’t reach her or Clarice.” He continued, “Rueben, how many people did your sister take to Japan?”
Rueben replied, “Two assistants and a local driver.”
Moore pressed, “Besides Clarice, who’s the other assistant?”
Rueben thought, “Dee Ridley, I believe.”
Master Moore instructed, “Find Dee’s number and contact her immediately!”
Rueben immediately called the Moore Group’s HR director. “I need Dee Ridley’s contact information – the one who went to Japan with Jasmine. Send it to me now!”
The HR director complied, quickly sending Rueben Dee's number. Rueben called, only to hear a voicemail message: “Sorry, the number you have dialed is unavailable.”
Rueben’s face fell. He looked at Master Moore, saying, “Grandpa… neither assistant can be reached. What’s going on?”
Master Moore, sweating profusely, slapped his hands together, muttering, “This is bad! Something’s happened to Jasmine! What do we do?”
Rueben stated decisively, “Grandpa, I’m going to Japan. Now.”
