Chapter 2059
Reuben's initiative to go to Japan somewhat eased Master Moore's worries. He mused, "Reuben and Jasmine aren't brother and sister, but his attentiveness to her is unusual" He sighed, then said, "Reuben, arrange a plane; I'm coming with you!"
Reuben quickly replied, "Grandpa, you shouldn't come. You're old, unfamiliar with the area, and it would be more trouble if anything happened. Father is still abroad, and Aurouss Hill needs someone to manage things. You stay home; I'll bring Jasmine back."
Moore hesitated, realizing his presence in Japan would be largely unproductive. Furthermore, his absence, along with Reuben's, would leave the Moore Group leaderless. A multi-billion dollar company requires constant attention, even during holidays. Leaving it unguarded risked significant losses.
Therefore, Master Moore nodded. "That's fine. Stay home, and quickly select capable people to accompany you."
Reuben immediately assured him, "Don't worry, Grandpa! I'll arrange it!" He promptly called assistants and over a dozen bodyguards, arranging a private flight to Japan, departing in an hour.
Master Moore then called Charlie Wade, saying, "Master Wade, Jasmine and her companions are unreachable. I fear something's happened. I've sent Reuben to Tokyo."
Charlie Wade asked, "No clues at all?"
Master Moore sighed, "None. The hotel said they left by car over an hour ago, but their destination is unknown."
Charlie Wade pressed, "Didn't Jasmine tell you where she was going?"
Moore replied sadly, "No. She returned from the New Japan Rail meeting, updated me on the negotiations, and mentioned further communication tomorrow. But she didn't say where she went tonight."
Reuben's actions were undeniably shrewd. While Jasmine's negotiations with Hashimoto Konzen of New Japan Railway repeatedly stalled, Reuben constantly encouraged her, bolstering her confidence and ambition. He even planted a suggestion, saying, "You might get a surprise tomorrow morning," subtly hinting at good fortune.
This subtle manipulation ensured that, upon receiving Hashimoto's call to sign the contract, Jasmine anticipated a celebratory surprise for her family. Consequently, she left the hotel without informing anyone beyond her immediate companions—exactly as Reuben planned.
Charlie Wade was deeply concerned. He had no suspicions about Reuben, only focusing on the urgency of Jasmine's disappearance. He needed someone in Tokyo to investigate immediately, starting with the hotel where she'd been staying.
He hung up with Moore and called Nanako.
