Chapter 2065
Deep in the mountains of West Domo County, Jasmine slowly and carefully traversed the valley. Despite the winter season, the valley was densely vegetated with evergreen pines and cypresses. There was no sign of human passage—not even a goat trail—making travel extremely difficult. Even an experienced explorer would struggle to maintain a fast pace, let alone Jasmine.
Fortunately, she was dressed warmly for the winter, wearing a thick cashmere trench coat over a black mid-skirt and corseted top, and black leather boots. This protected her from the dense pine needles and branches. Though accustomed to the valley's darkness, Jasmine could have used her cracked cell phone for illumination, but she feared her pursuer was still searching. To avoid detection, she checked for signal only occasionally, concealing her phone completely within her coat.
After two or three hours, despite her strength, Jasmine’s hands and face were scratched and bleeding. The pain was secondary, however; her sole focus was escape.
Meanwhile, Reuben's private plane landed at Tokyo airport. He immediately proceeded to the Tokyo Police Department. His plan was merely to make a show of grief for his father; he would leave the investigation to the police, then retrieve Jasmine's remains for a large funeral in Aurouss Hilll.
En route, he received a call from his father, Theodore, in the United States.
"Hello, Reuben, is it convenient to speak?"
Reuben replied indifferently, "I'm surrounded by loved ones, Dad. Don't worry."
"You're in Tokyo?" Theodore asked.
"Yes, Dad. I'm here."
