Chapter 2084
The women who liked Charlie Wade were all exceptional. Nanako Ito, Aurora Quinton, and Xyla (Divine Doctor Simmons's companion) – each was stunningly beautiful. Yet, it was obvious that they were deeply devoted to him.
This made Jasmine look at Charlie with a mixture of resentment and lament. She mused, "You bad guy! How many women have you entangled? You have so many love debts—how will you ever repay them?"
Ito Yuhiko, seeking to curry favor with Charlie, offered Jasmine assistance. "Miss Moore," he said, "you know my relationship with Watanabe Shinwa, chairman of New Nippon Steel. Once this matter is resolved and the murderer punished, if you need to cooperate with New Nippon Steel, I can facilitate that and secure the best terms."
Jasmine gratefully replied, "Thank you, Mr. Ito."
Ito Yuhiko continued earnestly, "Mr. Wade has helped my family immensely. Without his help, we would be ruined. He's been so gracious. As his friend, you're a friend to my family, and helping friends is our duty."
Since the Matsumoto family's demise for kidnapping the Banks children, Ito Yuhiko frequently reflected on his good fortune. The Matsumotos intended to frame the Itos, but Charlie Wade prevented their plan and saved the Itos from destruction. He had also saved Nanako. Therefore, Yuhiko held Charlie in extremely high regard. Seeing that Jasmine was Charlie's friend, he was eager to help her.
Charlie noticed Yuhiko's actions. He thought, "Since his injury, Ito Yuhiko's temperament has softened, and he's become much more considerate."
After breakfast, Jasmine, exhausted from a sleepless night, went to the Ito family's guest room with Nanako. Although Charlie's pills had improved her physical condition, the mental fatigue from the intense situation remained. She lay down on the tatami mats and quickly fell asleep.
Later, Ito Yuhiko apologized to Charlie. "Mr. Wade, I'm sorry, but my body is still weak since the amputation. I woke up too early; I need to rest. Please let me know if you need anything; Nanako will be available."
Charlie nodded. "Mr. Ito, please go ahead."
Yuhiko, somewhat weakly, asked his sister, Emi, to assist him. "Emi, walk me back to my room."
Emi responded respectfully, using the Japanese term for older brother, "Hajime, Oni-san!" (Oni-san = older brother)
Japanese culture emphasizes respect for elders, and Emi always treated Yuhiko with deference, like a daughter to her father. Then, with a guilty expression, she apologized to Charlie. "Sorry, Mr. Wade. Oni-san's body is severely damaged. The doctor says he needs more rest. Please forgive us."
Charlie nodded. "Ms. Ito, please take Mr. Ito to rest. When this matter is concluded, I'll properly treat him. I may not be able to regrow his limb, but I can restore him to his pre-injury condition, or even better."
