Listen to this chapter:

The next morning, Claire Wilson, carrying a file filled with proposals she had prepared overnight, went to the Emgrand Group office with Charlie Wade. Standing before the 100-story building, a wave of apprehension washed over her. Securing the deal felt like a beggar approaching a wealthy man and asking for a $30 million adjustment. She had promised her grandmother and publicly committed to the challenge, leaving her no choice but to proceed.

Sensing her anxiety, Charlie Wade gently stroked her arm and said, "Dear, don't worry. We'll make it."

Claire Wilson sighed heavily. "Alright, let's hope so! Wait for me here." She took a deep breath and entered the building. Watching her go, Charlie Wade pulled out his phone and called Miss Young.

"Miss Young, my wife is meeting you now. You know what to do."

"Yes, Mr. Wade. Don't worry, I'll meet your every requirement."

"By the way, I hear Emgrand Group has close ties to the Jones family. Is that true?"

"Yes, we've had many projects with them, completed and ongoing. They want to collaborate on this new megaproject and have submitted their proposals. However, the final decision rests with you, Mr. Wade."

Charlie Wade said coldly, "I don't want the Jones family involved in this project or any future projects."

"Yes, sir. Don't worry, I'll handle it."

Meanwhile, Claire Wilson waited at the Emgrand Group reception. She wasn't sure if Doris Young, the vice-chairman, even wanted to see her.

Shortly after, a stylish assistant approached. "Hi, are you Miss Claire Wilson? Miss Young is waiting for you in her office. Please follow me."

Claire Wilson was stunned. Could Doris Young know she was coming? It seemed impossible how could someone so prominent know about her?

Doris Young rose to greet Claire respectfully. "Hi, Miss Wilson. I'm Doris Young, vice-chairman of Emgrand Group. It's a pleasure to meet you."

Slightly anxious, Claire met one of Aurouss Hill's most famous businesswomen. "Hello, Miss Young," she said, her voice trembling slightly but remaining calm. "Thank you for seeing me. I'm here to discuss the resort project. While Wilson Group isn't as large as other firms, we work hard and have a strong reputation in interior design."

She handed over her portfolio. "Miss Young, this is Wilson Group's portfolio, please take a look."

Doris smiled, took the portfolio, and after a brief glance, said, "Miss Wilson, I've reviewed your documents. I believe you're the perfect partner for us."

Claire stared in disbelief. Why was it going so smoothly?

Doris smiled. "While Wilson Group doesn't fully meet our usual requirements, our chairman has a high opinion of you and wants to give you a chance."

"Your chairman?" Claire asked, startled. "May I ask who that is?"

Doris smiled faintly. "Our chairman is Mr. Wade from Eastcliff."

"Mr. Wade?" Claire frowned. "I don't know anyone named Wade except my husband."

Doris nodded subtly. Charlie Wade had instructed her not to reveal his identity. Claire couldn't imagine her seemingly insignificant husband, an orphan, being the Mr. Wade Doris described.

Doris continued, "Miss Wilson, your proposal quotes $30 million for the contract."

Claire asked timidly, "Is that too much?"

Doris smiled. "Oh no, it's less than our allocated budget."

Claire was puzzled. "What do you mean?"

"Our chairman instructed me to increase the quote to $60 million."

Doris produced a contract. "We've prepared the agreement for $60 million. If you're satisfied, we can sign now."

Claire gaped. She never expected Emgrand Group to prepare a contract beforehand, especially one doubling her initial quote! Her grandmother's goal was $30 million, but the contract showed $60 million! She had felt doubtful at the entrance, but Charlie's demeanor had been confident and unwavering. Could he have known the outcome all along?
