Listen to this chapter:

An abrupt and extravagant idea struck Claire Wilson. Could the Mr. Wade Doris mentioned be her husband, Charlie Wade? She dismissed it as ridiculous; Charlie was an orphan raised in a foster home. Yet, who else would treat her so well? Thirty million dollars seemed a lavish hope, but they'd offered her sixty!

She hesitantly asked Miss Young, Dorisโ€™s assistant, "May I know if your chairman is Charlie Wade?"

Doris's heart leaped. Her boss had instructed her to keep his identity secret, revealing only his surname. If his wife guessed, she'd be reprimanded! Trembling, she replied, "Miss Wilson, I can't disclose that information. Our chairman is a descendant of a prominent Eastcliff family. His identity is highly confidential."

Claire Wilson knew Charlie was an orphan, not a scion of a wealthy family. Leaving Doris's office, she felt lightheaded, clutching the sixty-million-dollar contract between Wilson Group and Emgrand Group. It felt surreal.

Spotting Charlie at the entrance, she exclaimed, "Charlie, I did it!"

He feigned surprise. "Wow! You secured the deal? That was a tough one!"

"Not really," she replied. "It seems they practically gave it to me."

"Huh?" Charlie looked confused. "Why do you say that?"

Fearing his jealousy, Claire deflected, "It's a long story. Let's tell everyone the good news at the office!"

Charlie laughed. "Okay! Harold will have to honor our bet and kneel before me!"

Claire agreed. "Yes! He's always been so arrogant. Let's give him a taste of his own medicine!" Claire, too, had her pride. Harold and the rest of her family had always looked down on her and Charlie. This success would humble them.

Ten minutes later, they arrived at Wilson Group. Everyone was in the conference room, looking skeptical. They'd expected Claire's failure and were waiting to mock her. Her early return surprised them. As they entered, sneers greeted them.

Harold sneered, "Hey, Claire, back in half an hour? You failed in less than an hour!" Wendy chimed in, echoing his sentiment.

A dark cloud settled over Lady Wilson's face. She knew the project was challenging, but Claire should have at least shown determination! How could she give up so quickly? She scolded, "Claire Wilson, you disappoint me."

Charlie was furious at their mockery, particularly Harold's arrogance. He was about to kneel!

Initially elated, Claire's excitement turned to anger. She stated, "I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I secured a deal with Miss Young of Emgrand Group!"

"What? You did it?" Disbelief filled the room. "No way! Impossible!"

Everyone recoiled in shock. Harold, regaining his composure, slammed the table. "Miss Young is a prominent elite. Why would she meet you? Don't you know who you are?"

Ignoring their doubts, Claire produced the contract. It exploded like a bomb in the room.

Harold still refused to believe it. He shouted, "She must have forged the document! I don't believe she could handle Emgrand Group!" Wendy agreed.

Claire sneered. "It's not thirty million, it's sixty million!"

Harold scoffed, "You think we're fools?" He turned to Lady Wilson. "Grandmother, this is outrageous! You can't let her get away with this!"

Lady Wilson was furious. A thirty-million-dollar deal was impressive, but sixty? Did Claire think she was a fool? She thundered, "Claire Wilson! Go to HR and submit your resignation!"

Claire was stunned. At that moment, Emgrand Group's official social media account released a statement confirming the sixty-million-dollar deal.
