The Amazing Son-in-Law: Chapters 321-325
Chapter 321
Claire Wilson was extremely stressed about her father's condition. She hadn't expected Dr. Joshua Lynch, whom Jason had welcomed, to be a quack. Since Joshua was unavailable, she needed to find someone in Aurouss Hill to heal her father.
Charlie Wade brought Anthony to her, saying, "Claire, this is Dr. Anthony Simmons, a renowned physician. He can heal Father's injury."
Claire Wilson and Elaine Ma were relieved. They never believed that Anthony Simmons, a prominent doctor, would treat Jacob Wilson.
Claire quickly said, "Dr. Simmons, thank you for your help!"
Anthony smiled and replied, "Don't worry, Mrs. Wade. I owe Master Wade a great deal, and I'll do my best."
He approached the bed, took out a pill, carefully halved it, and gingerly placed it in Jacob Wilson's mouth under everyone's intense gaze. Everyone held their breath.
Jacob Wilson's doctor watched intently. Although he doubted Chinese medicine could treat a spinal injury, the man before them was the famous Dr. Anthony Simmons, so a miracle might occur.
Jasmine, Zeke, Graham, and Albert recognized the pill; they'd received it from Charlie Wade and wondered about the elixir's potency. Could it really cure quadriplegia?
Suddenly, Jacob Wilson trembled slightly. His pale face flushed. His tightly shut eyes slowly opened.
Upon opening his eyes, he felt a jolt, warmth surging through his body. He felt comfortable and soothed. The bone pain was slowly dissipating! He tried to sit up, stunning everyone. He sat up unaided!
Everyone was astonished, as if witnessing an ancient pharaoh rise from his tomb. Claire Wilson gasped, tears streaming down her cheeks. Anthony Simmons had cured her father's quadriplegia!
The others were impressed, their affection for Charlie Wade growing. They realized the pill was the elixir Charlie Wade had created, and they'd also received some. Witnessing its power—healing paralysis with half a pill—filled them with excitement.
They thought, "Master Wade is truly remarkable! His pill instantly cures spinal injuries—a miracle!"
Anthony, watching Jacob Wilson, was stunned and almost fainted. This was a medical miracle! Even advanced Western medicine couldn't cure quadriplegia, yet he had, using only half the elixir! He carefully placed the remaining half in his suit pocket. It was a gift from Master Wade; he would guard it jealously.
Chapter 322
As Jacob Wilson felt the astonishing changes, he stared blankly in daze and shock. He vaguely remembered the accident and his paralysis. Now, he felt as if nothing had happened; he felt energetic and stronger than before the accident. What was going on?
Overwhelmed, he asked, "Claire, whatwhat happened to me?"
Claire regained her composure. Rushing to her father, she wept, "Papa, you were in a car accident and nearly paralyzed, but thanks to Dr. Simmons, you're fine now." She then thanked Anthony.
Before she could bow, he stopped her, thinking, I should thank Master Wade. Without his potion, I couldn't have healed his father. Remembering Charlie Wade's request for anonymity, he smiled politely, "You're welcome, Mrs. Wade. It's my honor."
Even without Master Wade's elixir, he couldn't have healed the injury. The doctor, equally shocked, said, "Dr. Simmons, you've performed a medical miracle!"
Anthony gave an awkward smile, "Oh no, I just happened to obtain this remarkable medicine. Otherwise, I couldn't have healed the patient."
The doctor sighed, "This medicine is a wonder! Mass production would benefit many!"
Anthony shook his head. "This medicine was refined by someone with phenomenal powers. It's rare and valuable; I only have half left. Let's not discuss mass production."
"Oh, that's too bad"
Claire asked about her father's discharge. The doctor, and Anthony, recommended a few days of observation and rest.
Claire nodded. Charlie Wade thanked everyone for visiting his father-in-law and asked them to let him rest. They left.
As Charlie Wade saw them out, Elaine Ma whispered to Claire, "Claire, Charlie's becoming increasingly deceitful! He's deceiving those VIPs! He's asking for trouble!"
Chapter 323
Claire felt embarrassed. She also felt Charlie Wade was taking a huge risk advising wealthy clients on Feng Shui. It was like walking a tightrope; many Feng Shui masters had met terrible ends.
Seeing Claire's stressed expression, Elaine knew she'd succeeded in influencing her. Elaine continued, "Didn't you see what happened to Jason Give? He was thrown away. How will they treat Charlie when they discover his lies?"
Claire replied, "Mom, how could you say that? Charlie simply asked a brilliant doctor to save Papa. You're trying to cause discord!"
"Why can't I say that?" Elaine retorted. "His situation is like buying financial insurance—an impending storm will leave him with nothing!"
Claire replied firmly, "Mother, no matter what you say, I will never leave Charlie!"
Despite this, Claire was worried. She wasn't afraid Charlie would harm them, but she was worried about the risks he was taking. She decided to persuade him to stop giving Feng Shui advice.
Hearing Claire's words, Elaine yelled angrily, "You're seriously pissing me off!"
Charlie returned. Elaine was about to continue when the doctor arrived. He asked someone to register and begin the hospitalization procedures.
Claire checked with Charlie, "Charlie, do you have the $180,000 check Doris reimbursed?"
Charlie nodded, "I'll go settle the hospital bills now."
Elaine, hearing about the check, asked, "What check? Where did you get it?"
Claire explained that Miss Doris from Emgrand Group refunded her office rent, allowing her free rent in the Bright Star Building.
Elaine was thrilled. "Such a benefit! We saved $180,000!" She asked the doctor about the hospitalization cost. The doctor said about $2,000 a day, with a $20,000 deposit.
Elaine quickly calculated: $180,000 less $20,000 is $160,000! She told Claire, "I'll go with Charlie to handle the payment!" She rushed out to catch him.
Chapter 324
Charlie was walking to the registration counter when Elaine caught up. "Charlie, give me the check. I'll pay the bill!"
Unaware of her plan to keep the remainder, Charlie said, "Mom, you can go back to the ward. I'll settle the bill."
Elaine snapped, "Why are you talking nonsense?! I said I'll pay! Give me the check! You can go back to the ward!"
Charlie sighed and gave her the check. Seeing Elaine's excited expression, he knew she planned to keep the money. He sighed and headed back to the ward.
Back in the ward, Claire asked if her mother had caught up to him. Charlie confirmed it. Claire knew her mother's materialistic nature and expected trouble. But she couldn't say anything, knowing her mother would cry and make a scene.
Elaine rushed to the counter, handing the cashier the check. The cashier stated a $20,000 deposit and explained the process.
Elaine, excited, instructed the cashier to use the check for the deposit and transfer the remaining balance to her card. The cashier was stunned upon looking at the check. Elaine, too, noticed the reaction.
Annoyed, Elaine demanded action. The cashier, also annoyed, tossed the check back, "I think you belong in the psychiatric ward. Why would you pay with a $100 million check? Didn't you take your medicine today?"
Chapter 325
Elaine frowned, picked up the check and reread it. "It's one hundred million! A hundred million dollar check!"
The cashier said, "Are you crazy? Do you think you can fool me with a fake check?"
Elaine was shocked. The check was clearly Charlie's! Her daughter had said it was $180,000. Charlie was using fake checks to deceive others!
Elaine didn't know if Charlie did this intentionally or accidentally, but she had proof of his deception. She was furious, and she decided to confront Charlie in front of Claire to make her see the truth and divorce him.
Charlie was with Claire and Jacob when Elaine burst into the room, waving the check, and screamed at Charlie. He was surprised.
Elaine went to Claire, complaining, "Look! He tried to cheat your own mother!"
Claire was confused and asked what happened. Elaine gave her the check, exclaiming that Charlie had given her a fake $100 million check and that the cashier almost called the police.
Charlie cursed internally; it was the check Jasmine gave him. This was a disaster. How could he explain this to Claire?
Claire looked at the check and her expression changed instantly. "Charlie, what's going on? Why do you have a fake $100 million check? Are you involved in fraud?"
Charlie tried to explain, "Honey, it's a misunderstanding!"
Elaine interrupted, "What's there to discuss?! This check is a prop he uses to deceive others! He gave it to me accidentally! I'm lucky he gave it to me! Imagine if he'd tried to cheat someone with it?"
Elaine looked at Claire, "Claire, he's even brave enough to commit $100 million fraud! Can you still trust him? If you don't divorce him, he will get our whole family into trouble!"
Claire looked coldly at Charlie. "Charlie, if you don't explain yourself, I will consider a divorce!"
Charlie looked at Claire with a hurt expression. "Honey, listen. I got this $100 million check from a funeral home."
Claire and Elaine were shocked. Charlie explained that his father had appeared in his dream, saying he was harassed because he lacked money in the afterlife. He'd asked the funeral home for help, and the owner suggested this check, saying it was more valuable than many smaller bills.
Claire asked, suspicious, "Charlie, are you telling the truth?"
Charlie insisted he was telling the truth. No one would believe the check was real, so it wasn't suitable for fraud. Claire considered it and found Charlie's explanation plausible. No one would believe a $100 million check was real for fraud.
