The Amazing Son-in-Law, Chapter 326
Claire Wilson, after a moment of reflection, relaxed and handed Charlie Wade a cash check. "Keep this safe," she instructed, "and give it to your father tonight. Don't mix it up with other checks! Otherwise, something bad might happen."
Charlie nodded quickly. "Don't worry, dear. I'll be more careful."
He then quickly retrieved a check for $180,000 and gave it to Elaine Ma. "Mom, here's the right check."
He continued, flattering her, "Mom, you caught my mistake! Otherwise, we would have lost a lot of money if I'd used the wrong one!"
Elaine glared at him. If not for the $180,000 check, she wouldn't have let him off so easily. Who could refuse money? She accepted the check, planning to keep the remaining $160,000 for herself.
Charlie sighed in relief when Elaine took the check. If she discovered the $100 million check was real, she'd probably jump out the window!
Suddenly, "Jacob Wilson! Jacob Wilson!"
Charlie frowned at the sound.
Mrs. Wilson entered the ward, leaning on a cane, accompanied by Christopher, Harold, and Wendy. Her face was anxious and distressed; her eyes bloodshot from crying. Rushing to Jacob's bedside, she cried, "Jacob Wilson!"
Though still somewhat disgusted, Claire didn't want to turn them away. They were here to see her father. She stepped forward. "Grandma, Dad's feeling better. Charlie invited a brilliant doctor to treat his injuries."
Mrs. Wilson breathed a sigh of relief. "That's wonderful news."
Jacob also responded, "Mom, don't worry. I won't die so easily."
Truthfully, Jacob was still resentful towards his mother. But she was still his mother, family. He couldn't be entirely without feeling for her. He was touched by her concern and tears.
Mrs. Wilson continued to sob, reprimanding herself. "Jacob, this is all my fault. I regret being afraid you'd leave this world without knowing how much I loved you, my dear son."
She sobbed bitterly. "Jacob, I'm sorry it seemed like I didn't care all these years. I was just strict because I wanted you to grow up faster."
Jacob felt his heart tighten and he began to cry. He'd always resented his mother for her perceived bias, her favoring of his brother. He'd never understood her constant support for his brother, while he was always deemed wrong. This resentment had festered for years. But seeing his mother's tears, the knot in his heart began to loosen.

Charlie frowned. He wasn't a Wilson; he had no familial bond with them. He instantly recognized Mrs. Wilson's manipulative tactics.
The Wilsons were desperate. Without reviving the Wilson Group, they'd crumble, and the old woman would fall from grace. Mrs. Wilson, obsessed with her reputation, would rather die than be penniless. She was desperately seeking a solution.
She'd tried bullying and manipulating Claire into rejoining the Wilson Group, to no avail. She'd tried using money to influence Elaine, also unsuccessfully. Now, she was targeting Jacob. This might be her last chance.
Jacob was falling for her trap. The knot in his heart was loosening; the lost respect for his mother was returning.
He wept. "Mom, I don't blame you. I know I'm not as capable or intelligent as my brother."
Mrs. Wilson gripped his hand. "Good son. You're my good son. As long as you understand my intentions, it's worth it. Even if I die today, I can die in peace!"
Christopher cried, "Mother! Don't talk about dying! Jacob and I have already lost our father. We can't lose you too!"
Wiping her tears, Mrs. Wilson said, "As long as you both have my well-being at heart, I'll be smiling even if I die tonight! If you stick together, I won't worry about the Wilson family anymore! We'll be strong!"
Christopher nodded. "From now on, I'll work with Jacob to make the Wilson family stronger!"
Jacob's ecstatic expression showed he'd fallen for his mother's trick.
Charlie sighed; the old woman was truly formidable. She could manipulate Jacob so easily. But he'd anticipated this.

Christopher agreed. "Yes, Claire. Dad needs a good environment to recover. Why don't you listen to Grandma and come back to the Wilson family home? I'll hire nannies for Dad."
Jacob, deeply moved, said, "Claire, why don't we go back?"
Claire felt conflicted. She couldn't tell if her grandmother was sincere. Seeing her family crying, she felt touched. She considered her father. A comfortable, peaceful environment would aid his recovery.
Elaine urged, "Claire, this is a great opportunity! Accept it!"
Hesitant at first, Claire finally said, "Alright, we'll go back."
Mrs. Wilson was overjoyed. Her plan had succeeded! Jacob was a fool, Elaine materialistic, Charlie trash, and even Claire had fallen for her trick.
Christopher gave his mother a silent thumbs-up. Targeting Jacob had been the key.
Charlie, seeing his wife about to be tricked, intervened. "Grandma, Uncle, it's great everyone moves back, but…"
Harold scowled. "But what?! Don't you know your place? Why are you talking?"
Mrs. Wilson raised her hand. "How dare you talk to your brother-in-law like that? Show some respect!"
Harold was stunned, realizing his mistake. He'd nearly ruined his grandmother's plan by insulting Charlie. He quickly apologized. "I'm sorry, brother-in-law. Please forgive me!" He bowed twice.
Charlie sneered. The Wilsons were willing to do anything to maintain their charade.
The Amazing Son-in-Law, Chapter 329
To reveal their true intentions, Charlie stated, "It's fine for everyone to move back. However, Claire will not be returning to work for the Wilson Group."
Mrs. Wilson exploded. "I said the whole family should live and work together! How can you move back but not work for the company?"
Charlie smiled. "Grandma, didn't you say you're inviting us because of Dad's health? Moving back and working for the Wilson Group are separate issues."
"No!" she yelled. "Since your family is moving back, you must work for the Wilson Group!"
She tried to manipulate Claire again. "Claire, you just opened your workshop and have no clients. Wouldn't it be better to close it and return to the Wilson Group?"
Claire sensed something was wrong. Charlie was right; the invitation was just a ploy to get her back to work for the Wilson Group.
Was this all an act? A cold chill ran down her spine. Luckily, Charlie had reacted quickly.
Claire responded, "Grandma, thank you for inviting us back. However, Charlie is right. Even if we move back, I won't return to the Wilson Group. I want to focus on my own business."
Mrs. Wilson hated Charlie. He'd ruined her carefully crafted performance.
She resorted to another manipulative tactic, starting to cry. "Claire, do you really hate your grandmother so much? Why are you reluctant to work for the Wilson Group? I thought we'd work together!" She wiped her tears. "Claire, are you still unwilling to forgive your grandmother?"
Claire replied firmly, "Grandma, this isn't about forgiveness. I forgave you long ago. But I've learned that relying on others isn't secure. I need my own business. I prefer focusing on my own company."
Jacob and Elaine tried to persuade Claire, but she remained firm.
The Amazing Son-in-Law, Chapter 330
Mrs. Wilson, to everyone's shock, knelt before Claire! Even Christopher was surprised. She, who’d always been so proud and controlling, was begging.
Claire was shocked. "Grandma, what are you doing? Please stand up. We can talk."
Mrs. Wilson remained kneeling. "Claire, what I did in the past was wrong! I shouldn't have forced you out of the Wilson Group. I apologize. Please forgive me and return to the Wilson Group. The family can't survive without you! Please, Claire. Grandmother is begging you!"
Her attitude had changed completely. The Wilson family was on the brink of bankruptcy, and she was willing to do anything to get Claire back.
Christopher, Harold, and Wendy also knelt, pleading with Claire.
Claire felt lost. She’d never expected Mrs. Wilson to kneel and beg for forgiveness. The Wilson family was truly desperate.
Seeing Claire still unmoved, Mrs. Wilson sobbed, "Claire, please have pity on your poor grandmother. The Wilson family can't live without you!" She prostrated herself three times.
Charlie approached Mrs. Wilson. "Grandmother, thank you for visiting my father-in-law. However, Claire will not be returning to work for the Wilson Group. Please leave."
Mrs. Wilson stopped crying and glared at Charlie. "Charlie Wade, when you had nothing, the Wilsons provided for you. Don't you feel grateful? Why are you trying to sow discord?"
Charlie smiled faintly. "I'm sorry, Grandma, but Claire and my in-laws are the ones who supported me. You've given me nothing but scorn. Why should I be grateful to you? I know your plan; you're trying to manipulate Claire into saving the Wilson Group. Am I wrong?"
