The Amazing Son-in-Law: Chapters 371-375

Chapter 371

Elaine Ma spent the morning fantasizing about the million-dollar gift Jason had promised. What could it be? She neglected her card game and rushed to the Divine Lounge to meet him. A check? Something more extravagant? For Elaine, who was accustomed to manipulating money, Jason's gift was incredibly tempting. She still reveled in her recent scheme, using Claire Wilson's check to pay a medical bill and pocketing $160,000. The thought of a million-dollar gift sent her into a frenzy.

At 11:30 AM, Elaine said goodbye to her friends, took a taxi, and went to the Divine Lounge. She waited by the door as planned. Soon, a new black Mercedes-Benz pulled up. A well-dressed young man, Jason, emerged, albeit with a limp. His stylish appearance and the Mercedes attracted attention, but his limp caused many women to leave disappointed. Jason noticed their reactions, fueling his hatred for Charlie Wade and Anthony. He suppressed his anger, however, and approached Elaine with a smile.

"Hi, Auntie. Sorry to keep you waiting."

"Oh, no, Jason, I just arrived…" She gasped at the Mercedes. "Oh, is that your new car?"

Jason smiled. "Yes. It's a Mercedes-Benz S500. I just picked it up. It's not too expensive, just over 1.6 million." He handed her the keys. "Auntie, please accept this."

Elaine frowned. "Jason, what's the meaning of this?"

"Auntie, it's the gift I mentioned! Uncle and Claire Wilson have BMWs, but you don't have a car. It's a shame for someone of your status."

Elaine was delighted, though she feigned modesty. She clutched the keys tightly, having no intention of returning them. Jason, sensing this, said, "Uncle and Claire Wilson drive lower-class BMW 5 Series; their combined value doesn't reach a million. This S500 is far superior. It's a small token of my affection."

Elaine was ecstatic. She was the epitome of a snobbish, greedy mother-in-law.

Chapter 372

Elaine's mind was consumed by money. For her, a son-in-law needed to be rich and spend money on her; otherwise, he was worthless. Jason, willing to spend on his mother-in-law, was the ideal candidate. She wondered what he'd give her daughter, Claire – a mansion? A yacht? Her imagination ran wild.

Maintaining outward politeness, she said, "Jason, I'm touched, but the car is so expensive. Is it alright if I accept it?"

"Why wouldn't it be?" Jason replied. "Auntie, it's a token of my admiration."

Elaine grinned, putting the keys in her purse. "Then I'll happily accept it! Thank you, Jason!"

Jason saw her greed and sneered. His plan with his father was working perfectly thanks to Elaine's snobbery. He smiled and suggested they go inside.

At the restaurant, Jason ordered an expensive meal. Mid-lunch, he apologized for bringing a quack doctor to the hospital.

Elaine smiled warmly. "I never blamed you!"

Jason then confessed his feelings for Claire. "Auntie, I love Claire. I want to marry her. Would you approve?"

Elaine squealed. "Of course! I already consider you my future son-in-law!"

Jason pretended to worry about Claire's resentment. "I want to apologize and confess in person. Please bring her to the estate."

"Wow, you're so conscientious!" Elaine exclaimed. "I'll call her now!"

Jason subtly advised her not to mention it was his idea. Elaine, believing it a brilliant strategy to leverage Claire's ambition, readily agreed. Jason inwardly reveled, planning to manipulate Claire and then eliminate Charlie Wade.

Chapter 373

Claire, Charlie Wade, and Jacob Wilson had just finished lunch. Charlie received a call from Xyla.

"Mr. Wade, what are you doing?" Xyla asked sympathetically.

"Is there something you want to tell me?" Charlie replied casually.

Xyla explained that Jason Grant and Kenneth Wilson had visited her grandfather's clinic, seeking treatment. Her grandfather, unaware of Kenneth's offense against Charlie, almost gave him half of a precious pill Charlie had previously provided.

Curious, Charlie asked why. Xyla revealed that her grandfather and Kenneth's father were close friends.

Xyla recounted their history, revealing the Wilson family had helped Anthony in the past. Charlie learned that Anthony's loyalty stemmed from this past kindness. He respected Anthony's ability to discern right from wrong, cutting ties with the Wilsons because of him.

Charlie, despite his wealthy background, had a humble upbringing, understanding the importance of gratitude. He remembered his own efforts to help his orphanage caretaker. He appreciated Anthony's similar character and loyalty. He decided to reward Anthony with another magical pill. He had about twenty left from a recent batch of thirty. He wanted to show both reward and punishment in Aurouss Hill.

Charlie asked Xyla if her grandfather would be at the Serene World Clinic in the afternoon. Xyla excitedly confirmed, eager to share the news with her grandfather.

Chapter 374

Charlie simply replied, "Yes, I will come by later."

Xyla excitedly told her grandfather. After cleaning the kitchen, Charlie saw Claire preparing to leave. He asked, "My dear wife, are you heading to your workshop?"

Claire shook her head. "Mom called. A friend is interested in renovating a rental property. I'm going to check it out."

"Which property?" Charlie asked.

"The villa by the river," Claire replied.

Charlie smiled. "Perfect! Can you drop me off at Serene World Clinic? I need to visit Dr. Simmons."

Claire was surprised. "Why don't I come with you?"

Claire felt grateful to Anthony for curing her father.

Charlie smiled. "Don't worry. You can drop me off. I can see the doctor alone. Dr. Simmons has a peculiar character; he might not appreciate a crowd."

Claire nodded. "Alright. Please make an appointment so we can treat him to dinner sometime!"

"That's a great idea!"

They left, Claire dropping Charlie off at the clinic. Anthony, seeing Charlie enter, excitedly greeted him.

"Mr. Wade, you're here!"

Chapter 375

Charlie waved his hand. "Mr. Simmons, you don't need to be so respectful. Call me Charlie."

"How could I?" Anthony bowed. "Mr. Wade, you're my master."

Charlie changed the subject, asking about Jason and Kenneth's visit. Anthony was surprised. Xyla confessed to telling Charlie. Anthony scolded Xyla, fearing Charlie would think he was seeking credit.

Seeing Xyla's hurt expression, Charlie said, "Mr. Simmons, it's a small matter. Don't scold Xyla."

Anthony apologized. Charlie praised Anthony's loyalty in refusing to treat Jason and Kenneth.

Anthony replied, explaining his commitment to serve Charlie in Aurouss Hill. Charlie presented Anthony with another magical pill, explaining its life-extending properties.

Anthony, recognizing its immense value and understanding his own mortality, was deeply moved and knelt down in gratitude. Xyla knelt beside him, her eyes filled with tears. Charlie had given this pill to a few individuals, but none appreciated its value more than Anthony. Anthony's deep understanding of his own mortality made the gift particularly meaningful to him.
