Chapter 128

Elliot refused to retaliate against his biological daughter using his son's blood. Hence, he looked at Nathaniel. “Mr. Solomon, can you sell us the emerald pendant and the bead?”

This wasn't what Nathaniel wanted. His previous efforts would be futile if he agreed with Elliot. The purpose of his visit today was to obtain Leon's blood to beat Phoebe. He sighed. “They are not mine. Damon inherited them from our master. Furthermore, there is a rule in our sect that they cannot be lent out, let alone sold.”

“Sorry that I can’t help, Mr. Jenkins.”

Elliot didn’t press Nathaniel. “My bad.” He then intended to seek help from other masters.

Because Elliot didn’t fall into the trap, Nathaniel persuaded him. The best solution is to break the spell with your son’s blood. “You have my word that the spellcaster won’t get hurt.”

Nathaniel added, “After the spell is broken, the backlash to the spellcaster won’t be strong. The spellcaster will feel a slight pain for several days, but that’s all. No serious injury.”

Elliot grasped the key point. “In other words, my children will feel pain for days, but their health won’t be impaired. Am I right?”

Nathaniel was in a dilemma. He was afraid that his candor would make Elliot, out of worry for Phoebe, refuse to break the spell. After a moment of thought, he said, “Yes, you are right. The pain doesn’t come from their bodies. It is more like their delusion. Therefore, the backlash won’t cause any damage to the spellcaster.”

Till this moment, Nathaniel was honest. The backlash wouldn’t hurt Phoebe. However, Nathaniel would use Leon’s blood to cast a curse on Phoebe later. Phoebe would be badly hurt when the time was ripe.

Elliot could tell that Nathaniel wasn’t being entirely truthful. As expected, Phoebe wasn’t so heartless as to ruin her brother. Hence, Elliot felt relieved. “Let it be, as long as their health won’t be impaired.”

He was suspicious of the two strangers, so he refused to give them his son's blood. He didn’t want his daughter to be hurt, though Nathaniel had promised that she wouldn’t be. Besides, he was afraid that Nathaniel would be up to something bad with Leon’s blood.

Nathaniel and Damon felt helpless. Things didn’t go as planned. Elliot was supposed to agree to break the spell after promising that Phoebe wouldn’t get hurt.

Ellie’s decision didn’t surprise Leon. Leon knew that Elliot disliked others meddling in their family matters. Elliot was devoted to his work and paid little attention to his children.

Therefore, he wasn’t nosy or intrusive in their lives. However, he had the final say when it came to something important.

Sienna didn’t expect her adoptive father to be so biased. She thought, “To prevent Phoebe from suffering a backlash, he let his son endure the pain. I have lived under his roof for more than a decade. He is supposed to care about me, even if we aren’t that close. However, he doesn’t give a damn about me. Why doesn’t he let us have our ways as before!”

She regretted this visit to the Jenkins Group with Leon. She should have persuaded Leon to take Nathaniel and Damon to their home. In this way, Elliot couldn’t interfere as he did now.

Nathaniel was persistent. He looked at Elliot and said, “If so, we can do nothing for the victims.” Deep down, he cursed at Damon for lending the items to help Leon relieve the pain.

Elliot had a gentle smile on his face. “It’s alright. They should learn their lessons. Thanks for coming, Mr. Solomon and Mr. Newton.”

Elliot was sophisticated. He wrote two checks and respectively stuffed them into the hands of Nathaniel and Damon to express his gratitude.

Elliot was exchanging pleasantries with Nathaniel and Damon. Indignant, she pulled Cain when Elliot had his back to her. Frank noticed Sienna’s move and immediately alerted Leon with a nudge. Leon looked over.

Leon saw Cain turn his head and watched Sienna mouth, with red eyes and a pale face, “Cain, I feel so bad.” With sympathy, Cain touched Sienna’s head. Then, he turned around, walked to Elliot, and whispered, “Dad, why don’t we break the spell since Phoebe won’t get hurt? Both Leon and Sienna are suffering. How can they continue their work? There isn’t enough stuff to help them alleviate the pain, so how can they survive the rest of the torment?”

Hearing Cain, Elliot couldn’t maintain the smile on his face anymore. He gave Cain a warning look. “Shut up.”

Cain was unconvinced. “Dad, you let us do whatever we want, so why can’t you now! Phoebe is your daughter. Leon and Sienna are your children, too. She is heartless to Leon and Sienna, so you and Mom may be targeted one day. I think the backlash can teach her a good lesson. Anyway, she won’t get hurt physically. You are good to her, but she won’t know that or be grateful to you.”

Elliot was lost for words. At that moment, he found that he was a bad father. He had paid little attention to his children. He had been tied to the company. When he had time, his children were old enough to look after themselves.

Now, he realized his problem. His sons had been led astray. Furious, Elliot asked, “Sienna is your sister, so isn’t Phoebe!” He spent little time at home, so he didn’t know that his sons were so partial to his adopted daughter.

Leon instantly said, “Frank and I agree with Dad. Cain, you look like a clown now?” Without the nudge from Frank, Leon would be ignorant of Sienna’s slyness as before.

Leon thought, “She should open her mouth if she wants to break the spell. She instigated the stupid Cain to speak up for her for fear that Dad would be mad at her. How cunning!” At the same time, Leon felt embarrassed. What Cain had done reminded Leon of his past. He had stood up for Sienna like Cain at her instigation. How embarrassing!

Nathaniel was very unhappy. He failed to achieve his goal of this visit and got backlashed. He looked at Leon and Frank. “Are you sure that you don’t want to break the spell now! I’m leaving this city tomorrow. I can’t help if you change your mind later.”

Leon and Frank exchanged one glance with each other. “Thank you, but no, Mr. Solomon.”

Then, Damon said, “I got the stuff from my master. I tried to push Leon to break the spell now. Sorry that I can’t let you take them home. Could you please return them to me now?”

In the studio, Brenda said, “Pheels, the two old men are weird. It seems they are anxious to get the spell broken.”

Phoebe nodded. “They must have come for me. She narrowed her eyes and added, “I will give them a feast. Will they take the stuff back when only Sienna and Edith feel the pain!”
