Chapter 142

Joshua was stunned once again. He stared at Phoebe, unable to believe his ears. “You are really speaking to me so rudely?”

Phoebe rolled her eyes. “Well, how else should I talk to you?” She sounded a bit impatient. “Can you stop getting so close? It’s so annoying.”

Joshua was so angry his chest was rising and falling with every breath. “You’ve gone too far.” For a moment, he didn’t even know what to say.

Across from them, Jamar was holding his phone, the camera aimed at them. On the other end of the video call was Ollie’s office. Leon was holding his phone and talking with Ollie, watching what was happening. Seeing Joshua’s arrogant attitude, both of them couldn’t help but roll their eyes.

Ollie commented, “Joshua’s lost it.”

He really walked right into that one, he wondered. He’s clearly asking for trouble.

Leon, feeling deeply, responded, “Yeah. He really has no clue about his place in Phoebe’s eyes.”

Then he added, “Actually, in Phoebe’s eyes, he doesn’t have any place at all.”

Jamar couldn’t help but joke, “Sounds like you actually have a place in Phoebe’s heart.”

Among the brothers, Leon had suffered the most from Phoebe. Leon was stung by Jamar’s words. “Enough. Shut up,” he snapped. Then he added, “Jamar, I didn’t realize you were this devious. You knew to use Joshua as a shield.”

Jamar rolled his eyes. “Leon, I don’t have as many tricks up my sleeve as you do.”

Leon had called Jamar the night before, repeatedly emphasizing that once they met Phoebe, they should video call him immediately. Jamar didn’t realize that these two scheming brothers just wanted to watch how Phoebe would rebuke Joshua.

Jamar finally understood why Leon had helped Joshua secure a permanent guest spot; it was all to watch the drama unfold and get some comfort.

Leon smirked. “Well, you’re right. You’re not as clever as I am.”

Jamar rolled his eyes, annoyed. “Are you still watching? I’m about to hang up.”

Leon quickly responded, “No please. I won’t say anything anymore, alright!”

Jamar replied, “That’s more like it.”

When Phoebe shut Jamar down without a care, he felt both hurt and angry. But when he saw Phoebe shut down Joshua even more ruthlessly, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of schadenfreude.

Jamar sighed. “Leon, I think I’ve learned bad habits from you.”

Leon sneered. “You were never a good person to begin with.”

Jamar rolled his eyes and fell silent.

On the other side, Joshua was left speechless after Phoebe shut him down.

Maddox, feeling frustrated, muttered, “Not only does he overestimate himself, but he’s terrible at speaking too. I don’t even know how he became a so-called powerful singer.”

Everyone else was momentarily stunned. What’s the connection between bad speaking skills and singing ability, they wondered.

Phoebe, however, agreed. “Yeah, someone who can’t even talk properly doesn’t know how to sing either.”

Then she switched gears. “But he has two tasteless brothers who will make sure he’s taken care of. As long as the company pours enough resources into him, even if he is a fool, he’ll still succeed.”

In other words, Joshua’s success would be entirely due to his resources.

In the video call, Ollie and Leon exchanged a glance and shook their heads helplessly. They both never expected that they were being dragged into this nonsense.

They both looked at each other as if asking, “Is Joshua really that bad of a singer?”

Meanwhile, Quintus was looking at Phoebe with admiration, thinking she was amazing, and that Joshua was so arrogant and full of himself. Quintus had never liked him and had been waiting for him to be taken down a notch.

When Quintus heard Phoebe shut Joshua up completely, making him so angry he couldn’t speak, he felt a rush of satisfaction.

Jimmy, on the other hand, was shocked once again. “What kind of show am I on! These guests are getting crazier by the minute. One is more arrogant than the next. This is the first time I’ve ever seen a top-tier singer get roasted like this. It’s so thrilling!”

Joshua’s face was clouded with anger. He couldn’t hold it in anymore. “Phoebe, you teamed up with an outsider to bully me. Don’t you care about ever going back to the Jenkins family!”

Phoebe found this laughable. “Not only do you not know your place, but you also can’t even understand what people are saying. I’ve told you before that I have nothing to do with you and I will never go back to the Jenkins family. You’re such an idiot.”

Her words earned agreement from both Leon and Jamar. Joshua is such a fool. He can’t even read the situation. Doesn’t he realize that Phoebe doesn’t care about him at all? He actually says something like that, trying to threaten her? He’s such an idiot. He’s pushing Phoebe further away, they thought.

They had experience and could immediately tell that Joshua’s strategy was all wrong.

Maddox also couldn’t understand Joshua’s actions. He turned to Phoebe and said, “Let’s just continue our conversation and ignore this idiot.”

Before Phoebe could respond, Joshua was already upset. “Maddox, what’s it to you! You’re the idiot. Don’t think just because you’re from the Hooper family that I won’t beat you up!”

What does Maddox have to do with me talking to Phoebe! Maddox is so annoying, Joshua thought to himself.

Maddox looked at him, a provocative smile spreading across his face. “You think you can beat me?” He stood up. “You want to fight! Bring it. I’ve never been scared of anyone.”

Maddox was a good bit taller than Joshua and had the upper hand in terms of presence.

Phoebe, standing beside them, said, “Maddox is my friend. Of course, he’s going to speak up for me. But who do you think you are! Do you actually want to hit him? Do you have the ability to do that! Don’t even talk about Maddox; I could easily take you down with one hand.”

Joshua, seeing Phoebe help Maddox, an outsider, to belittle and humiliate him, was nearly driven mad with rage. He couldn’t accept it.

“Phoebe, who are you even helping?” Joshua growled. “I’m your brother.”

Phoebe looked at him as though he were an idiot. “Are you kidding? Of course, I’m helping Maddox.”

For a moment, Joshua was stunned, feeling the sharp sting of Phoebe’s words.

He pointed at Phoebe, shaking with anger. “You’ve gone too far.”

Leon sighed and shook his head. “Jamar, you’d better pull Joshua away. He’s making a fool of himself. Phoebe could literally wipe him out with one hand. Tell him to stop.” Leon was especially aware of this.

Jamar also thought Joshua was embarrassing himself. Before, Jamar had only thought that Joshua was actively seeking out trouble. But Jamar didn’t expect him to be humiliated this badly.

Jamar quickly stood up, ready to pull Joshua back and calm him down.

Sienna, who had been pleased to see Joshua go after Phoebe, couldn’t help but feel satisfied. On the way here, she had purposely talked bad about Phoebe in front of Joshua. That strategy had worked perfectly.

But now, seeing Joshua being humiliated so badly by Phoebe and Maddox, Sienna felt so embarrassed that she couldn’t bear to watch.

She couldn’t help but curse under her breath, “Joshua is such a joke. I totally overestimated him.”
