Chapter 245
Standing at the doorway, Cain listened to Sienna acting coy and thought, โThis time, Ollie will probably agree, right?โ But Ollie, despite the fond smile on his face, simply said, โHow would that even be comforting? Youโd be better off seeing a good psychologist for some proper guidance. That would be much more effective.โ He even added, โWant me to help you find one?โ
Luck wasnโt something you could just lend or give away so easily. He wasnโt sure if Sienna was joking or if she actually believed in this, but either way, he wasnโt going to agree. Sienna was speechless. โWho the hell needs a psychologist?โ
She clung to Ollieโs arm and shook it gently. โOllie, just take pity on me, okay? I just want to try it out and see if what my friend said is true.โ
Ollie chuckled. โThen go try it with someone else. I just got off a long flight; Iโm exhausted. Iโm going to my room to rest.โ He reached out and gently patted her head. โBe good.โ Then, he got up and left the living room.
Sienna was fuming inside. They always claimed to dote on her, but when it really mattered, they wouldnโt even humor her with something as small as this? She pouted, looking aggrieved. โOllie, you donโt love me anymore. I hate you.โ
Ollie couldnโt help but laugh. โThatโs all it takes for you to hate me? Youโre such a child. If you really feel unlucky, I can call Damon for you, or even get you a great psychologist. But I wonโt entertain this kind of joke.โ
Sienna could tell โ Ollie wasnโt going to budge on this. If she kept pushing, he might start getting suspicious, or worse, annoyed. After all, aside from Elliot, Ollie was the sharpest and most rational of the brothers. So, she rolled her eyes at him playfully and nodded obediently. โAlright, Iโll think about it.โ
Then she asked, โBut once youโre rested, can you at least have dinner with me?โ If she kept working on him for a few more days, she refused to believe she wouldnโt be able to get through to him. Ollie had no reason to refuse such a simple request. โSure.โ With that, he turned to leave the living room.
At the doorway, he noticed Cain standing there and paused for a second. โCain, why are you just standing there?โ Cain glanced at Ollie, his expression complicated. How could there be such a huge difference between brothers? Leon, Joshua, and Janar had some idea of what was going on, so they had outright refused Sienna. But Ollie, who didnโt know anything, was still so cautious. He wouldnโt even joke about something related to luck. That only made Cath feel even more foolishโฆ
He stepped out of his thoughts and forced a smile. โI heard you talking, so I came to say hi.โ Cillie glanced at the suitcase nearby and asked, โWhere are you going?โ Cain replied, โI havenโt had much luck at home lately, so Iโm going to stay with Joshua for a few days.โ Olive frowned. โJoshuaโs place? Heโs not home?โ
Cain nodded. โYeah, Leon, Joshua, and Janar all moved out.โ
Then, seeing Sienna pushing her wheelchair toward them, he quickly said, โOllie, Iโll talk to you later. I need to go find Joshua.โ For some reason, he just felt like avoiding Sienna right now. Ollie had a feeling something had happened while he was away. But Cain wasnโt exactly the sharpest tool in the shed, so asking him wouldnโt be much help. So, he simply nodded. โAlright, go ahead.โ Then, he went back to his room.
By the time Sienna wheeled herself into the room, both of her brothers were gone. The smile on her face was immediately replaced by gloom. โThese brothersโฆ theyโve all changed.โ She regretted it now. She should have listened to Reynard and Cesar and made sure Phoebe stayed in the Jenkins family. That way, she could have found a way to make everyone despise Phoebe completely. Instead, letting Phoebe leave had only made her more intriguing to them. Sienna thought, โIs this what they mean by โdistance makes the heart grow fonderโ?โ But there was no use regretting it now. Her only hope was that in the next reality show, she could crush Phoebe completely.
Meanwhile, Ollie returned to his room and took a shower. The more he thought about it, the more he felt something was off. All three of his younger brothers had suddenly moved out? That couldnโt just be a coincidence. After getting out of the shower, he called Leon.
Leon picked up immediately. โOllie, youโre back?โ โJust got home today,โ Ollie said. โCain told me you guys all moved out?โ Then he asked, โDid something happen?โ
Leon answered honestly, โSienna kept pestering us to give her luck. We were terrified, so we just ran.โ Ollie was stunned. โShe asked you guys for luck too?โ โYeah, all four of us,โ Leon confirmed. โBut only Cain was dumb enough to agree. The rest of us refused. Let me guess โ she asked you too?โ
Ollie exhaled. โYeah, she did. But I didnโt agree.โ Leon wasnโt surprised. Ollie was the smartest one among them โ he wouldnโt be fooled as easily as Cain. โThatโs good. Go ask the servants how Cainโs been doing this past week. Then youโll see how right you were to refuse.โ
Ollie frowned. โCain gave his luck away, and now heโs been unlucky for a whole week? So this wasnโt just some joke?โ Leon scoffed. โOnly Cain would believe itโs just a joke.โ Ollie pressed, โWhatโs really going on?โ
Leon chuckled. โYou havenโt suffered the consequences yet, so even if I tell you, you wonโt get it. Youโll understand when it happens to you.โ All four of them had already been burned. Ollie couldnโt escape; rather, he had to experience it for himself. After all, they were brothers. If one suffered, they all had to suffer together. At least Ollie was sharp enough not to end up as miserable as Cain.
And until he personally went through it, heโd never truly see Siennaโs true nature. No matter how much they warned him, it would be useless โ just like how Joshua ignored them before, and how Cain was now. Ollie was speechless. โThis is ridiculous,โ he muttered. โWhatโs with all the secrecy?โ Leon simply said, โYouโll find out soon enough.โ Then, after a few more words, he hung up.
Ollie, still feeling puzzled, called over a servant and asked about Cainโs recent streak of bad luck. After hearing everything, he finally understood why Leon and the others had fled. Whether or not Sienna was joking, this was just too eerie. And if even Cain, the unluckiest of them all, had run awayโฆ Then why the hell was he still staying here? So, he quickly changed clothes, grabbed his still-unpacked suitcase, and left. He had a business trip to another city in two days anyway โ might as well leave early.
That evening, Sienna had dressed up carefully for dinner, looking as delicate and charming as ever. But when she arrived at the dining room, it was completely empty. Then she received a text from Ollie, apologizing and saying he had to leave for a sudden business trip and wouldnโt be able to have dinner with her.
She snapped. In a fit of rage, she overturned the entire dining table, sending dishes crashing to the floor. The servants, seeing her worsening temper, didnโt dare to approach. Just then, her strict etiquette instructor arrived. With a stern expression, she scolded, โThis is unacceptable. A lady of your status should never act so disgracefully. Come with me โ you need to be disciplined and relearn your table manners.โ
Sienna stiffened. โDamn it. I totally forgot that old hag was still in the house.โ The moment she heard the word โdiscipline,โ her palms started to sting in anticipation. But she didnโt dare resist. If she did, Lydia might send her away. So, filled with resentment, she let the servants push her back to her room to suffer her punishment.
Meanwhile, the rest of the Jenkins brothers, upon hearing that Ollie had also escaped, were exasperated. โThis is insane,โ they muttered. โHow is it that Ollie is the only one smart enough to avoid this? Did all the Jenkins familyโs intelligence go to Ollie and Phoebe?โ Sienna thought. They were truly miserable.
Elsewhere, Phoebe and Maddox had just wrapped up their filming. That day, they headed to the airport to meet up with Emmett and the others, preparing to fly to the border.
