Chapter 246

Standing beside Emmett was a woman dressed elegantly, exuding sophistication and grace. Phoebe studied their features and quickly deduced that this must be Emmettโ€™s wife. From her facial features, Phoebe could also tell that this woman had a tendency to attract troublemakers. The three of them smiled and greeted Phoebe warmly as she approached.

Emmett introduced them. โ€œThis is Phoebe, the one I told you about.โ€ Then he turned to Phoebe. โ€œAnd this is my wife, Giselle.โ€

Giselle greeted Phoebe with warmth and gratitude. โ€œPhoebe, hello.โ€

Had it not been for this young horoscope master, Remy would have been in serious danger. If anything had happened to him, her husband would have been devastated and guilt-ridden, creating a rift between them. After all, she had been the one fooled by Una, dragging Emmett to that auction in the first place. She had always gotten along well with Remy and never wanted him harmed. So, she was deeply grateful to Phoebe for resolving the crisis.

Phoebe smiled and greeted her politely, โ€œNice to meet you, Mrs. Vaughan.โ€

Giselle wanted to form a closer bond with Phoebe. โ€œCalling me โ€˜Mrs. Vaughanโ€™ sounds too formal,โ€ she said with a warm smile. โ€œWhy donโ€™t you just call me Giselle?โ€

Phoebe glanced at Giselleโ€™s featuresโ€”she had done many good deeds and wasnโ€™t a bad person. She seemed gentle on the surface but actually had a fiery temper. She was also easily swayed or manipulated into making impulsive decisions, which was why she often attracted trouble.

Phoebe smiled. โ€œAlright then, Giselle. You can call me Phoebe, too. That sounds much better.โ€

Giselle walked over to Phoebeโ€™s side and started chatting with her. Since Emmettโ€™s secretary had booked the tickets, they were all seated together. After entering the VIP lounge and taking their seats, a few more people walked in. Phoebe looked up.

Leading the group was a man in his thirtiesโ€”not bad-looking but exuding a certain frivolity. It was easy to tell that he was the playboy type. Beside him was a young woman, fairly attractive, dressed in a professional yet stylish manner. She wore a warm, gentle smile, but from her facial features, Phoebe could tell she wasnโ€™t as easygoing as she seemed. The most crucial detail, though, was that this woman bore a striking resemblance to Sienna. That meant one thingโ€”she was Siennaโ€™s half-sister. And that meant her identity was obvious. She was none other than Una, the fake heiress of the Woodward family. Phoebe thought to herself, โ€˜So Una really is up to something.โ€™

Her gaze then shifted to another young woman standing behind them. This woman had little presence, blending into the background. She wore black-framed glasses, her shoulder-length hair partially covering her face. Her outfit was plain and unremarkable, making her seem quite forgettable. But Phoebe noticed something interestingโ€”if one looked closely, her features were actually quite delicate. With a proper makeover, she would be far more beautiful than Una.

From her facial features, Phoebe could tell that Claire wasnโ€™t naturally timid. Her current meekness and low presence must be an act. Logically, with her personality, she should have resisted both the Woodward family and Una. But Phoebe noticed something unusual between Una and Claireโ€”there was a strange similarity in their aura. Upon closer inspection, she realized their luck was intertwined. More shockingly, Claire had willingly turned herself into a human vessel, providing luck for Una. This discovery left Phoebe both surprised and puzzled.

While she was analyzing them, the newcomers also spotted their group. The man in the lead was Stanley, the current heir of the Woodward family. Seeing Emmett and the others, he raised an eyebrow and smirked. โ€œWell, well. Looks like weโ€™re on the same flight. What a coincidence.โ€

Emmett responded with a light smile. โ€œIndeed, quite the coincidence.โ€ Since Gauge had business to attend to, they had moved up their trip by two days.

There was no way this was just happenstance. Una looked at Emmettโ€™s group with a surprised expression. She greeted Emmett and Giselle with a smile. And then, something completely unexpected happened. Without warning, Giselle suddenly stepped forward, grabbed Unaโ€™s hair, and slapped her across the face several times.

โ€œYou wretched woman!โ€ Giselle spat. โ€œIโ€™ve always been kind to you, and this is how you repay me? You tricked my husband into buying something cursed and made him wear it! What do you have against me? Were you actually trying to kill my husband?โ€

Her sudden outburst left everyone in shock. It was only after Una was slapped that they fully registered what had happened. Stanley immediately stepped in, trying to pull Giselle away. โ€œGiselle, letโ€™s talk this out. You canโ€™t just hit people!โ€

Giselle might have looked gentle, but her temper was anything but. Plus, she had trained in martial arts since childhoodโ€”even Stanley couldnโ€™t take her in a fight. Una tried to resist but couldnโ€™t break free from Giselleโ€™s grip. She could only shriek, โ€œGiselle, what are you saying? I donโ€™t understand! How could I possibly want to harm Emmett?โ€

She was seething with rage. โ€œThis woman had the audacity to hit her in public?! How was she supposed to show her face after this?โ€ More importantly, she was terrifiedโ€”Giselle clearly knew about the ring. That meant Emmett must have told her. To Giselle, nothing and no one mattered more than her husband. No wonder she had attacked the moment she saw her.

But Giselle wasnโ€™t done. She continued pulling Unaโ€™s hair and slapping her. She said, โ€œYou think Iโ€™m an idiot? You called us multiple times that day, pushing us to go to your auction. If you didnโ€™t know the ring was cursed, why were you so desperate for my husband to buy it? If it was really so beneficial, why didnโ€™t you keep it for yourself? Or give it to your beloved big brother? I must have been blind to think you were a decent person. Turns out, youโ€™re nothing but a venomous snake!โ€

The moment Emmett had told Giselle what happened, she had wanted to confront Una. But Una had conveniently disappeared, forcing her to hold in her anger until now. There was no way she was letting Una off the hook without a beating. Una, of course, refused to admit anything. โ€œI didnโ€™t! I swear I didnโ€™t!โ€

She had already realized that the ring had ended up in Remyโ€™s hands, which meant trouble. But she never expected that not only had Remy survived, but he had been saved by a master. Knowing Giselleโ€™s temper, she had deliberately stayed out of contact to avoid trouble. She had assumed Emmett hadnโ€™t told Giselle. So, when she found out Emmettโ€™s group had booked this flight and had even brought a horoscope master, she pushed Stanley to book the same one. She had wanted to see firsthand who had ruined her plan. She had even been plotting revenge. But who would have thought that the moment she arrived, sheโ€™d be beaten so viciously by Giselle? This woman was insane!

Stanley couldnโ€™t restrain Giselle and turned to Emmett. โ€œCould you at least try to stop her?โ€

But Emmett simply said, โ€œRemy was nearly killed because of Una. Isnโ€™t it only fair for Giselle to vent her anger?โ€ He wasnโ€™t afraid of the Woodward family or Una. And with the public auction coming up, this was the perfect opportunity to sever ties openly. This way, when he later competed for emeralds and targeted the Woodward Group, he would have a justifiable reason. This was all part of the plan he and Giselle had already discussed.

Of course, Giselleโ€™s anger was entirely real. She was fiercely protective of Emmett. Una had nearly cost him his lifeโ€”there was no way she was letting it slide. If she didnโ€™t get this out of her system, sheโ€™d feel suffocated. So, as far as Emmett was concerned, Giselle was doing exactly what needed to be done.
