Chapter 275

From his post, Anus sat in front of the TV, watching the live broadcast with grim expressions. Joshnja let out a frustrated groan. “Cain, you absolute idiot! What the hell did he just do?”

They had finally managed to lay low after the last wave of backlash, but thanks to Cain running his mouth, they were getting dragged into it all over again. Joshua grabbed his phone and opened Twitter. His follower count was dropping fast, and the replies under his latest posts were flooded with insults.

He felt an overwhelming urge to jump into the livestream and strangle Cain himself. Letting out a bitter sigh, he muttered, “We really were stupid and blind. This is on us. And now Cain’s just made Phoebe hate us even more.”

They had spent so much time trying to fix things with her, even going as far as buying talismans and emeralds, hoping it would smooth things over. However, thanks to Cain, all of that was completely wasted.

“No wonder Phoebe never sold him any talismans or emeralds. He doesn’t deserve them.” Leon clenched his jaw, his hands itching to punch something or someone.

“That idiot is a walking disaster. I should’ve never let him do that variety show. Should’ve just let him take the beating, dragging us down with him,” he added. His frustration boiled over. Cain had already screwed him over once, and now he had to deal with this mess again.

Leon had barely managed to recover from the last scandal—when he got roasted online for defending Sienna and throwing shade at Phoebe. He had finally started working again, ready to get back on track next month. But Cain just had to go and ruin everything.

Lydia, who had been watching with them, was so furious she felt dizzy. “Cain, that idiot! What the hell is wrong with him?”

A simple greeting wouldn’t have caused this much trouble, but he had to go and shove Phoebe. If he hadn’t picked a fight, Phoebe wouldn’t have exposed the recording.

Fuming, Lydia muttered, “I can’t believe she actually recorded that conversation. Family matters should stay in the family! How could she do that?” Now that the recording was out, the Jenkins family’s reputation was completely trashed.

When she scrolled through the flood of hate comments directed at her, her hands started shaking with rage. Lydia had lived a life of luxury and status, first as the daughter of a wealthy family, then as the wife of one. She had never been humiliated like this.

She could already imagine the smug faces of those society women who never liked her, gloating at her downfall. Even worse, what will my friends think? Will they pity me? Mock me behind my back? The thought made her stomach turn.

Her feelings toward Phoebe were all over the place. She knew she had let her daughter down in the past. That guilt was there. However, on the other hand, Phoebe had just exposed their family’s private affairs to the entire world.

Lydia clenched her fists. They could have settled this behind closed doors. She didn’t have to make it public. And the fact that Phoebe had recorded that conversation was unsettling. Lydia was wondering how long she had been planning this.

Leon exhaled sharply. “Mom, she already cut ties with us. To her, there is no family.”

The scandal was just the beginning. Ficha didn’t want to hear it, but Leon knew better. Phoebe hadn’t recorded that conversation on a whim. She had been waiting for the right moment. And, obviously, Cain had given her the perfect opportunity, Leon had to admit. Phoebe was smart. Ruthless, but smart.

This was the last episode of the show, with millions watching. Since Phoebe hadn’t officially stated anything yet, her phone was still with her. She had planned everything, dropping that recording when it would make the biggest impact. There was no recovering from this.

Thinking back, Leon felt a deep sense of regret. When he and his brothers had lashed out against Phoebe, it never felt like bullying. However, after hearing that recording, all he wanted to do was disappear. They really had been awful to her.

Chapter 275

Back then, Sienna had fed them the idea that Phoebe was stealing what belonged to her. If Sienna wanted something, Phoebe was supposed to step aside. And like an idiot, he had gone along with it.

Leon let out a heavy sigh. “Listening to that recording now… Damn, we were idiots. Even Ollie.” They had been completely played by Sienna. Joshua shook his head. “Yeah. Especially me and Cain. We were the biggest fools.”

He scoffed. She got in our heads, and we just went along with it. Cain was even worse, storming in there and making a scene on live TV like an absolute moron. Joshua shot a glance at Sienna, who was putting on her usual innocent victim act. His lips curled in amusement.

“Look at her. Not only did Cain do it to impress her, but she’s probably pissed at him too. It’s always the same, we charge in, take all the heat, and the second things don’t go her way, she plays the helpless little princess.”

He rolled his eyes. “And now! Cain’s the one getting ripped apart online, while she’s sitting back, untouched. Classic.” He let out a bitter chuckle. “Seriously, how blind were we to not see through this earlier?”

Leon sighed again. “Who would’ve thought! We spoiled her for over a decade, treated her like our little sister. And the whole time, she was just using us.”

That was the real kicker. Joshua nodded. “Yeah. Every single time, she’d stir things up and sit back while we ran straight into the fire. If it worked out, she took the credit. If it backfired, we took the blame.”

He frowned. “You think Cain’s finally gonna wake up after this?” Cain had completely wrecked himself for Sienna, and now he was trending for all the wrong reasons. They wondered if this would be enough to knock some sense into him.

Leon thought for a second. “Even if Cain tries to back off, Sienna won’t. She’ll drag him right back in. And this time, he’ll take the full brunt. So yeah, I think he’ll finally see her for what she really is.”

Joshua shrugged. “If he still doesn’t get it, he’s a lost cause. He deserves whatever comes next.”

Iron leaned back, shaking his head. “He had this coming. And now, thanks to him, my return to work is delayed again. Unreal.”

Joshua was about to say something when his phone rang. He picked up, listened for a few seconds, then let out a string of curses. “Cain and Sienna are both disasters.”

Leon raised an eyebrow. “What now?”

Joshua groaned. “My manager just called. My new song release? Delayed. The concert I was prepping for? Postponed. And the signing event next week? Straight-up canceled.”

All thanks to Cain. That idiot got himself roasted all over the trending searches, and now they were getting dragged into it.

Leon ran a hand down his face. “Great. Just great. We really lucked out with him as a brother, didn’t we?”

Then he glanced at Lydia, who looked like she was about to explode. “Mom, adopting Sienna was hands down the worst decision you ever made. Look at this mess. I don’t even want to step outside.”
