Chapter 292
Cain looked at Sienna, his emotions all over the place. He wanted to believe her, but he just couldn't. Luck didn't just get borrowed by accident. If it was really just a joke, nothing should have happened when he agreed. There was no way she didn't know. She said she was clueless, yet she had asked to borrow his luck in the first place. Sienna had also given him that bracelet right before the show.
His chest felt heavy. After a moment of silence, he finally said, โIf you say you didnโt know, okay then.โ There was no point in pressing her. Looking at her now, it was obvious she would never admit it. But he sure as hell wasnโt making the same mistake again. He had agreed to it back then, so he could only blame himself for his bad luck.
Siennaโs eyes welled up as she clung to his arm. โCain, I really didnโt know. After the show, weโll go find that guy together. Youโll see for yourself.โ
Cain nodded. โAlright.โ He wanted to see exactly who had roped her into this.
Jamar, who had been watching quietly, finally scoffed. โCain, you actually believe that?โ
Cain shot him a look. โNot your problem.โ It wasnโt like he could do anything about it now. He had already made his bed. No point crying over it.
Jamar stared at him like he was the biggest idiot on the planet. โAlright, man. If thatโs what you wanna go with. But donโt come crying later.โ
Cain ignored him and turned to Kaylan. โMaster Flynn, you said my situation isnโt easy to fix. Does that mean it can still be fixed?โ
Raylan nodded. โYeah. Itโs possible. Actually, itโs not that hard, just one big problem.โ
Cain frowned. โWhat problem!โ
Raylan sighed. โYou need the person who took your luck to willingly return it. Think sheโll do that? If she agrees, I can reverse your luck.โ He gave Sienna a pointed look before adding, โBut once she gives it back, sheโll take on all the bad luck that was supposed to be yours.โ
Sienna visibly stiffened. She definitely didnโt want to give it back. No way she would willingly take on his misfortune. However, with Cain and everyone else watching, she couldnโt exactly refuse.
โYou can really do that?โ Siennaโs eyes widened before she forced a soft smile. โThen Iโm willing. If it means Cain wonโt be so unlucky anymore, I donโt mind taking it back.โ She turned to Cain, her voice gentle, almost fragile. โCain, Iโll do this for you.โ
Hearing her say that, the doubt that had been creeping into Cainโs mind eased, at least a little. Maybe she really hadnโt known this would happen. Maddox suddenly clapped his hands. โWow. What an incredible sibling bond. Iโm seriously about to tear up!โ He smirked. โA brother who selflessly gives up a third of his luckโฆ A sister who bravely offers to take it back, even if it means suffering misfortune herself. So touching!โ
Cain and Sienna couldnโt shake the mocking in his tone. This guy always had a way with words, like he was setting them up for something.
Cain narrowed his eyes. โWhat are you trying to say!โ
Maddox shrugged. โOh, nothing. Just admiring the love between you two. So, are we doing this or not? Iโm pretty curious to see how this whole luck transfer thing actually works.โ He turned to the cameras and grinned. โAnd I bet the audience is just as interested.โ
Siennaโs was way too polished. Sure, she said she was willing, but anyone paying attention could see she was playing it up. Perfectly tragic. Perfectly noble. A guaranteed way to win sympathy.
But Maddox had a feeling she wouldnโt actually go through with it. She would find a way to stall, drag it out until the show ends, then vanish with some excuse. And by then, Cain wouldnโt be able to do a damn thing about it. Which was why Maddox had no intention of letting her get away so easily.
Phoebe raised a brow. โIโve never seen anyone return luck before. This should be interesting.โ
A few others nodded. โYeah, I kinda wanna see how it works.โ
Jamar glanced at Cain, smirking. โWell, since Siennaโs so willing, what are you waiting for? Go ahead and ask Master Flynn to start.โ He knew exactly what Sienna was doing. Right now, she was putting on the perfect show. Whether she would actually give Cain his luck back or not, that was entirely up to her.
Cain hesitated, glancing at Sienna. Sienna, what do you think? If she gave his luck back, she would be the one suffering. He didnโt want that. But if she didnโt, he would stay miserable.
Siennaโs face stiffened. She cursed Maddox in her head. This guy just couldnโt stand seeing her do well. He always had to stir things up. If he ever fell for her, she would make sure he cried over it.
โItโs probably not a good idea to do this live, right? Why donโt we wait until after the show and ask Master Flynn then?โ she said. She would just make up an excuse later. No big deal.
But before she could relax, Sebastian Scott spoke up. โNo problem. I just checked with the Horoscope Association, they said itโs fine. This could actually be a warning for people. If they run into something like this, theyโll know what to watch out for.โ
Sienna felt like the universe was out to get her today. So frustrating. She turned to Cain with a helpless look. โCain, should I give it back now? But if I start getting unlucky, you have to look out for me, okay?โ Then, she sighed dramatically. โLast episode was already bad enough. Looks like this oneโs gonna be rough too.โ
She was tugging at Cainโs heartstrings, making him second-guess everything. And it worked. โMaybe we should wait until after the show,โ he mumbled.
Jamar was ready to shake some sense into him. โCain, sheโs offering. You canโt just turn her down like that!โ
Cain still hesitated. โBut if she gives it back now, sheโll be the one unlucky. Howโs she supposed to keep filming?โ
Maddox smirked. โEasy fix. Just give her the horoscope artifact. It worked for you, didnโt it?โ
Cain pressed his lips together. โShe could wear the bracelet, but the bad luck should bounce back later.โ
Maddox raised a brow. โIf itโs okay for you, why wouldnโt it be okay for her?โ
โSheโs the one who gave you that bracelet! Whoโs to say her friend canโt make sure she doesnโt get the bad luck back!โ
This fool was still feeling sorry for Sienna. He was even seriously trying to reason with her like she actually cared.
Jamar nodded. โExactly. This is the perfect chance. Master Flynnโs busy next week, he might not be able to help you later. Better to handle it now.โ
At this point, he just hoped Cain would stop being so damn clueless. They had done their part. If Cain still wanted to be stupid about it, that was his problem.
