Chapter 292

Cain looked at Sienna, his emotions all over the place. He wanted to believe her, but he just couldn't. Luck didn't just get borrowed by accident. If it was really just a joke, nothing should have happened when he agreed. There was no way she didn't know. She said she was clueless, yet she had asked to borrow his luck in the first place. Sienna had also given him that bracelet right before the show.

His chest felt heavy. After a moment of silence, he finally said, โ€œIf you say you didnโ€™t know, okay then.โ€ There was no point in pressing her. Looking at her now, it was obvious she would never admit it. But he sure as hell wasnโ€™t making the same mistake again. He had agreed to it back then, so he could only blame himself for his bad luck.

Siennaโ€™s eyes welled up as she clung to his arm. โ€œCain, I really didnโ€™t know. After the show, weโ€™ll go find that guy together. Youโ€™ll see for yourself.โ€

Cain nodded. โ€œAlright.โ€ He wanted to see exactly who had roped her into this.

Jamar, who had been watching quietly, finally scoffed. โ€œCain, you actually believe that?โ€

Cain shot him a look. โ€œNot your problem.โ€ It wasnโ€™t like he could do anything about it now. He had already made his bed. No point crying over it.

Jamar stared at him like he was the biggest idiot on the planet. โ€œAlright, man. If thatโ€™s what you wanna go with. But donโ€™t come crying later.โ€

Cain ignored him and turned to Kaylan. โ€œMaster Flynn, you said my situation isnโ€™t easy to fix. Does that mean it can still be fixed?โ€

Raylan nodded. โ€œYeah. Itโ€™s possible. Actually, itโ€™s not that hard, just one big problem.โ€

Cain frowned. โ€œWhat problem!โ€

Raylan sighed. โ€œYou need the person who took your luck to willingly return it. Think sheโ€™ll do that? If she agrees, I can reverse your luck.โ€ He gave Sienna a pointed look before adding, โ€œBut once she gives it back, sheโ€™ll take on all the bad luck that was supposed to be yours.โ€

Sienna visibly stiffened. She definitely didnโ€™t want to give it back. No way she would willingly take on his misfortune. However, with Cain and everyone else watching, she couldnโ€™t exactly refuse.

โ€œYou can really do that?โ€ Siennaโ€™s eyes widened before she forced a soft smile. โ€œThen Iโ€™m willing. If it means Cain wonโ€™t be so unlucky anymore, I donโ€™t mind taking it back.โ€ She turned to Cain, her voice gentle, almost fragile. โ€œCain, Iโ€™ll do this for you.โ€

Hearing her say that, the doubt that had been creeping into Cainโ€™s mind eased, at least a little. Maybe she really hadnโ€™t known this would happen. Maddox suddenly clapped his hands. โ€œWow. What an incredible sibling bond. Iโ€™m seriously about to tear up!โ€ He smirked. โ€œA brother who selflessly gives up a third of his luckโ€ฆ A sister who bravely offers to take it back, even if it means suffering misfortune herself. So touching!โ€

Cain and Sienna couldnโ€™t shake the mocking in his tone. This guy always had a way with words, like he was setting them up for something.

Cain narrowed his eyes. โ€œWhat are you trying to say!โ€

Maddox shrugged. โ€œOh, nothing. Just admiring the love between you two. So, are we doing this or not? Iโ€™m pretty curious to see how this whole luck transfer thing actually works.โ€ He turned to the cameras and grinned. โ€œAnd I bet the audience is just as interested.โ€

Siennaโ€™s was way too polished. Sure, she said she was willing, but anyone paying attention could see she was playing it up. Perfectly tragic. Perfectly noble. A guaranteed way to win sympathy.

But Maddox had a feeling she wouldnโ€™t actually go through with it. She would find a way to stall, drag it out until the show ends, then vanish with some excuse. And by then, Cain wouldnโ€™t be able to do a damn thing about it. Which was why Maddox had no intention of letting her get away so easily.

Phoebe raised a brow. โ€œIโ€™ve never seen anyone return luck before. This should be interesting.โ€

A few others nodded. โ€œYeah, I kinda wanna see how it works.โ€

Jamar glanced at Cain, smirking. โ€œWell, since Siennaโ€™s so willing, what are you waiting for? Go ahead and ask Master Flynn to start.โ€ He knew exactly what Sienna was doing. Right now, she was putting on the perfect show. Whether she would actually give Cain his luck back or not, that was entirely up to her.

Cain hesitated, glancing at Sienna. Sienna, what do you think? If she gave his luck back, she would be the one suffering. He didnโ€™t want that. But if she didnโ€™t, he would stay miserable.

Siennaโ€™s face stiffened. She cursed Maddox in her head. This guy just couldnโ€™t stand seeing her do well. He always had to stir things up. If he ever fell for her, she would make sure he cried over it.

โ€œItโ€™s probably not a good idea to do this live, right? Why donโ€™t we wait until after the show and ask Master Flynn then?โ€ she said. She would just make up an excuse later. No big deal.

But before she could relax, Sebastian Scott spoke up. โ€œNo problem. I just checked with the Horoscope Association, they said itโ€™s fine. This could actually be a warning for people. If they run into something like this, theyโ€™ll know what to watch out for.โ€

Sienna felt like the universe was out to get her today. So frustrating. She turned to Cain with a helpless look. โ€œCain, should I give it back now? But if I start getting unlucky, you have to look out for me, okay?โ€ Then, she sighed dramatically. โ€œLast episode was already bad enough. Looks like this oneโ€™s gonna be rough too.โ€

She was tugging at Cainโ€™s heartstrings, making him second-guess everything. And it worked. โ€œMaybe we should wait until after the show,โ€ he mumbled.

Jamar was ready to shake some sense into him. โ€œCain, sheโ€™s offering. You canโ€™t just turn her down like that!โ€

Cain still hesitated. โ€œBut if she gives it back now, sheโ€™ll be the one unlucky. Howโ€™s she supposed to keep filming?โ€

Maddox smirked. โ€œEasy fix. Just give her the horoscope artifact. It worked for you, didnโ€™t it?โ€

Cain pressed his lips together. โ€œShe could wear the bracelet, but the bad luck should bounce back later.โ€

Maddox raised a brow. โ€œIf itโ€™s okay for you, why wouldnโ€™t it be okay for her?โ€

โ€œSheโ€™s the one who gave you that bracelet! Whoโ€™s to say her friend canโ€™t make sure she doesnโ€™t get the bad luck back!โ€

This fool was still feeling sorry for Sienna. He was even seriously trying to reason with her like she actually cared.

Jamar nodded. โ€œExactly. This is the perfect chance. Master Flynnโ€™s busy next week, he might not be able to help you later. Better to handle it now.โ€

At this point, he just hoped Cain would stop being so damn clueless. They had done their part. If Cain still wanted to be stupid about it, that was his problem.
