Sienna scowled. โWhat do you mean! My brother asked you to take care of me! Youโre supposed to take good care of me!โ
The manโs eyes flashed with disdain. Reynard was nothing to him. He scoffed. โIโm just doing him a favor. Iโm not his servant. Helping you is a personal favor, not something I owe you. You better take care of yourself from now on.โ
He was beyond fed up with Sienna constantly causing trouble. With that, he left with a darkened expression. Sienna, left alone with her arm still aching and itching, was so furious that she burst into tears.
But there was nothing she could do. She grabbed some clothing to cover the wound and headed to a nearby medical clinic for treatment. Her hatred toward Phoebe deepened even more.
Back at the Horoscope Association, it wasnโt long before Sienna began shivering violently. The place didnโt have air conditioning, and even after wrapping herself in multiple blankets, she still felt freezing cold. Then suddenly, she started sweating profusely, as if her body was burning up. The cycle repeated, freezing cold, burning hot, freezing cold, burning hotโฆ
Unable to bear the suffering any longer, Sienna called the man again. His response was cold. โYou wonโt die. Just endure it for two days.โ Then he hung up.
Sienna was so furious that she swore she would get back at him. She thought her brother had arranged an incompetent man for her. He had been polite before, but now he was treating her so horribly. If she could contact her brother, she would definitely complain. But for now, all she could do was endure.
As Sienna lay in bed, tormented by alternating chills and burning heat, her body ached and itched unbearably.
Elsewhere, in a border town, three people had just arrived. Suddenly, one of them collapsed to the ground, clutching his throat with wide, panicked eyes. His legs kicked wildly as if an invisible force was strangling him. Moments later, he stopped moving. He was dead.
The other two were terrified. They hurriedly disposed of his body before rushing to flee the country.
At Oriar, the Voodoo Warlock contacted Ophelia, informing her that he had already fought against Phoebe. But Phoebe was powerful. If Ophelia wanted him to strike again, she would have to increase the payment. Since the Voodoo Warlock had been introduced by someone Ophelia trusted, she believed him completely. He demanded an additional 7 million dollars, and without hesitation, she agreed. Following his instructions, she transferred the money immediately.
Meanwhile, Finnian discovered that Ophelia had transferred 17 million dollars to an unknown account. Suspicious, he ordered an investigation into the recipient. Just as his team traced the account to someone in Relands, another 7 million dollars was sent to the same person. Something was very wrong. His assistant soon reported back with alarming news: the recipient was a Voodoo Warlock.
Finnianโs expression darkened. He was pondering what Ophelia could possibly want. There was no way she had sent such large sums to a Voodoo Warlock for anything good. After a moment of contemplation, he had a guess. He knew that Heroe was keeping an eye on Ophelia, so he called him. Finnian asked Reece to remind Phoebe to be careful. He also wanted to help his son make amends for his relationship with Phoebe.
Chaperals had been living with the Hill family. When the scandals surrounding Lagos Fansdy were exposed online, Finnian had been completelyโฆ
To him, the situation was nothing more than a bothersome nuisance, a desperate mess he dealt with often.
Limastermund, behind them, ignored the situation. Kromathur Ophelia was overly attached to her maternal Uncle Dudley. But since he had been pretending to be a devoted, lovestruck fool to manipulate her, she had chosen to turn a blind eye to it.
Karevik Finman had never taken the Ivons family seriously. He saw them as an annoying, troublesome bunch and had no interest in dealing with them. Yet, now, to his disgust, he learned that the Lyon Bonds had actually used Ophelia to leverage the Hill familyโs power, committing all kinds ofโฆ
He couldn't wait for the Ivons family to collapse, for all their criminals to be thrown into prison. He had no intention of helping them. So, heโฆ
After receiving a call from his father, Reece couldnโt hold back anymore. Intending to find Phoebe, he was shocked. Her faceโฆ
But on the way, he unexpectedly ran into Sienna. Her face was pale, her features gaunt, and her complexion so poor that she looked like she had aged ten years. What had happened to her? He must have done something awful and was finally getting her karma.
Sienna had come out to buy medicine. Sensing someone staring at her, she instinctively looked up and met Reeceโs gaze. Her expression changed instantly. Without hesitation, she covered her face and turned to run. She absolutely did not want Reece to see her like this. She couldnโt let him witness her in such a wretched state. It would destroy her image in his eyes.
Reece was left speechless. Hearing a knock, Phoebe was busy drawing talismans in the inn. She had also carved a few artifacts, preparing artifacts to set up temporary magic fields. On hearing the knock, she got up and opened the door. Seeing Reece standing at the door, she was slightly startled. โWhat do you want?โ
She had heard from Brenda that Reece hadnโt left Caluwa. He had stayed behind to accompany Ophelia. Reece felt a familiar pain in his chest at the sight of Phoebeโs cold expression. He said, โI have something important to tell you. Itโs not safe to talk outside.โ
Phoebe stepped aside and opened the door. โAlright, come in.โ Once inside, Reece didnโt waste any time in idle talk. He got straight to the point. He said, โMy dad called me today. He found out that my mom transferred 24 million dollars to a Voodoo Warlock from Relands. We suspect she hired him to target you.โ
His mother was up to something. But he never imagined sheโd go this far. Still, confronting her was pointless. She wouldnโt listen, and he knew it. All he could do was warn Phoebe to be careful.
Phoebe hadnโt expected Reece to come just to warn her. She said, โI already know. Your mother was working with Sienna earlier. They paid offโฆโ
She briefly recounted the events. Reeceโs expression darkened as he listened. He frowned, concern flashing across his face. โAre you okay!โ
Phoebe shook her head. โIโm fine. Those three men ended up swapping the hair for Siennaโs instead.โ Hearing this, Reece finally exhaled in relief. And in that moment, everything clicked. He said, โI ran into her just now. She looked so much older, completely pale and exhausted. So it was her own doing. She totally brought this on herself.โ
Phoebe smirked. Everything was progressing just as she had planned. She thought it was time for the next step. Suddenly, she turned to Reece and asked, โYou didnโt go visit Cain in the hospital?โ
Reece was stunned. โNo, why?โ
