Chapter 357

He immediately took Jamar with him to Avtam for Helja, but Ravlan hadnโ€™t cited interest everywhere for rare and aged medicinal herbs, as he had heard that horoscope masters were quite fond of them. He intended to use them as a gift in Solara City.

Cope Associadorโ€™s masters inquired around and eventually found Raylanโ€™s residence. Upon knocking on the door, the gate suddenly swung open, startling them both. They had no idea how the door had opened.

A voice from inside called, โ€œCome straight to the courtyard.โ€

The sensation of something like telepathy muted their surprise. Rivlin was indeed formidable. He was seated in a chair, flipping through an ancient book. Only when they entered did he set the book down and look at them.

โ€œZin,โ€ Raylan said indifferently.

That girl is really persistent, he mused, quietly acknowledging that the Jenkins family had come knocking again. According to his calculations, the Jenkins family should have first returned to Solara City and sought help from others; their other options would have been to come back to Orur, which would have taken at least a month.

Phoebe, trying to make Siennaโ€™s insinuation work, knew that since he had already agreed to her request, he wouldnโ€™t back out now. He explained, โ€œWe arrived earlier than expected because we received some news. We thought it might help with evening the curse, so we wanted to ask for your assistance.โ€

Sienna had been harmed by the Voodoo Warlock, they revealed, also stating that they had obtained Siennaโ€™s hair and blood. Summing up to Caluwa, Eiโ€™d learned that his son had purchased Siennaโ€™s hair and blood. Furthermore, he had someone take a strand of hair and conduct a DNA test with Maria. The results confirmed Maria and Sienna were mother and daughter, so he felt confident enough to inform Raylan.

He asked, โ€œDo you think now is the right time?โ€

Raylan looked at him with an amused yet unreadable expression. โ€œYou people really like to think youโ€™re clever.โ€

They were both feeling awkward and were about to explain when Raylan spoke again. โ€œNevermind. For my little juniorโ€™s sake, Iโ€™ll help you this time. Go to the hospital. You need to prepare a few things.โ€

Overjoyed, they exclaimed, โ€œGreat! Just tell me what we need, and Iโ€™ll make sure to get it.โ€

Even in his agreement, there was also a hint of bitterness. If not for his daughter, Raylan wouldnโ€™t have bothered to help his son at all.

He took a sheet of paper and wrote down a list. โ€œBuy everything on this list. The horoscope shops in Oriar sell them.โ€ He slid the wooden boxes forward. โ€œA small token of appreciation from us. I hope you donโ€™t mind accepting it.โ€

With a brief glance, Unmeshanchy knew what was meant. โ€œAlright.โ€

Latte, Saantesh, Tobatwah, Kastaisโ€”all had a better relationship with Raylan. He pricked the ancient book again, dearly uninterested in further conversation.

And Tamar spoke up. โ€œManner Thyu, weโ€™ll take our leave.โ€

Kaylan kept his eyes on his book and said indifferently, โ€œTake care.โ€ He heroically protected those he cared about.

Phoebe, however, had a strong dislike for the Jenkins family. With no desire to stir up trouble, she wouldnโ€™t have even bothered speaking to them. So, her attitude remained cold and distant.

Aher, Ethos, and Jamar left. Raylan thought for a moment and sent a message to Phoebe. โ€œIโ€™m going to the hospital tonight to perform the ritual.โ€

The messier things became, the more she knew that the bond between father and son was strong. (Of course, Iโ€™m going! Definitely!) She was curious to see how he would carry out the ritual, knowing him to be unbelievably powerful.

She glanced at the boxes on the table. (The Jenkins family gave me some aged medicinal herbs. Do you want them?) She was intrigued. She made a lot of potions, but she was always short on quality ingredients.

She asked, (You donโ€™t want them!)

Raylan: โ€œI have no use for them!โ€

Phoebe thought he was just dumping them on her. But it made sense. Raylan had been alive for over 500 years. Even though he was trapped in Onar, heโ€™d had plenty of time to collect treasures through others.

She replied: [Fine! If you donโ€™t want them, Iโ€™ll take them all! Iโ€™m not picky!]

He was a smart man. If he went through the trouble of finding rare herbs for Raglan, then they were definitely useful for alchemy. She then asked: [Raylan, you must have a lot of good stuff, right?]

Kaylan chuckled. [Why? Trying to fleece me!]

Phoebe didnโ€™t even hide it. [I absolutely am.] Finding aged treasures these days was nearly impossible. Even money couldnโ€™t guarantee access. If she had a chance to benefit, of course, she would take it. And she wasnโ€™t planning to take advantage of him for free. The ritual technique she had could help him break his shackles and push him toward the next level of Ascendance, Realin Perfection. That was invaluable to Raylan. So this was more like a fair trade.

Raylan smirked. Phoebe really didnโ€™t hold back. But he liked that about her.

What annoyed him most were people who wanted something but pretended otherwise.

Raylan: โ€œYour emerald pendant is already eye-catching. If you start carrying around even more rare treasures, youโ€™re basically begging to be robbed. Next time you visit Oriar, Iโ€™ll let you see my collection.โ€

He was unable to leave Crur, or he would have gladly accompanied her to Solara City. He was curious to see what it looked like now. And with him around, no one would dare to try anything. But unfortunatelyโ€ฆ

Phoebe: [Alright! Thanks in advance!]

Phoebe thought about it and realized he was right. If she walked around flaunting even more rare artifacts, sheโ€™d be a walking target. Sheโ€™d wait until her next trip to Oriar to properly raid Raylanโ€™s collection. After all their recent testing and back-and-forth, she had concluded Raylan was worth sticking around.
