Chapter 363
Lyall looked at Elliot and the others as they entered, her expression blank. Cain turned to his father and said, โDul, youโve had a long day. You should take Mon back to the hotel to rest now.โ
Elliot immediately understood that his son just wanted to avoid more nagging from his mother. Feeling a bit helpless, he said, โNo rush. Letโs sit for a bit before leaving?โ He then turned to Lydia and asked, โHas Mrs. Hillโโ
Lydiaโs face held a cold expression. โHe came to visit Eain and Jannar, but heโs still mocking us and rolling his eyes. If I were her, I wouldnโt want toโโ
Lydiaโs speech was cut short, and she muttered, โI wasnโt wrong.โ
Lydia glared at him. โYou still donโt see your mistake?โ
Elliot interjected, โRight, hot-Jamar-wand-woong-cuber.โ Mrs. Hill has a terrible relationship with her own daughter, so she wants to instigate trouble between you and Phoebe. A person with such ulteriorโ
Before she could continue, Elliot added, โYouโve been having major mood swings lately. Havenโt you noticed something feels off?โ
Lydia hesitated. โIโve been feeling irritable, sure, but isnโt that normal?โ
Elliot bluntly said, โPhoebe discovered that Mrs. Hill had intentionally applied a special fragrance that affects emotions: It heightens negative feelings, making people lose control over small matters.โ โIf exposed to it frequently, it can even harm your health.โ He deliberately added the last part, knowing that besides her pride, Lydia cared most about her health.
As expected, Lydiaโs expression turned from shock to skepticism. She asked, โIs this real? Is Phoebe just saying this because she dislikes Mrs. Hill?โ
Elliot had anticipated her doubt. โIf youโre unsure, we can get a check-up to confirm it. Iโll take you to the hospital tomorrow morning. If thereโs a problem, youโll see the truth for yourself.โ
Lydiaโs heart skipped a beat, but she remained stubborn. โI donโt believe thereโs anything wrong with my body. Iโll go for the check-up tomorrow, just to prove that fine?โ
Elliot smiled. โGood. Weโll check the results together. That way, we can finally determine whether Phoebe or Mrs. Hill is the real problem.โ Lydia did not argue further, effectively accepting the plan.
After sitting for a while, she and Elliot returned to the hotel. The next morning, Elliot accompanied Lydia to the hospital for a check-up. The results showed that Lydiaโs body contained an abnormal hormone that stimulated emotional reactions. It caused frequent mood swings, irritability, and disrupted sleep and marital problems, affecting her well-being. If exposed over time, it would lead to serious health issues.
Elliot wasnโt surprised by the results. He had already placed full trust in Phoebeโs abilities. Lydia was in a daze after receiving the test results. She only regained her senses when she returned to Cainโs hospital room. Then, a wave of anger surged onto her face.
Lydia said, โIโm going to findโโ
She never expected that there really was something foreign affecting her body. The more she thought about it, the more wrong she felt. Recently, her mood swings had been extreme. She would get irritable and angry over the smallest things.
Chapter 364
Lydia often woke up in the middle of the night, and her overall energy and well-being had been declining. It turned out it was all caused by an external factor.
No wonder every time she met Ophelia, she noticed the same faint fragrance on her. She had even wondered why Ophelia never changed her perfume despite meeting so many times. Now she knew it was a deliberate trick, and the fragrance was only used when they met. And to think she had treated Ophelia as a close friend!
Now, all she felt was humiliation and fury at being played like a fool. She needed an outlet for her anger.
Elliot thought for a moment and said, โItโs good to confront her. Do you want me to go with you?โ It would be better for Lydia to recognize Opheliaโs true nature sooner rather than later.
However, Lydia, already feeling embarrassed at being manipulated, didnโt want her husband to witness her humiliation. She shook her head. โNo need. Jamar, you come with me.โ She was going for a confrontation, and bringing a son along made her feel more secure.
Jamar was happy to oblige. โIโd love to.โ He wanted to see the drama unfold.
As the two of them were about to leave, Elliot added, โJamar, explain something to your mother on the way.โ โOphelia and Sienna tried to get Phoebeโs hair and blood and hired a voodoo warlock to curse her.โ
Lydia was shocked. โThey tried to use a voodoo warlock against Phoebe?โ she asked in disbelief.
Elliot nodded. โYes. Fortunately, Phoebe was smart and didnโt let them take her hair or blood. Otherwise, things wouldโve been much worse.โ He added, โBoth of them are full of evil intentions. The sooner you cut ties with them, the better it is for you.โ
Lydia felt a storm brewing in her mind. Afraid her husband would notice her turmoil, she forced herself to stay calm and nodded. โAlright.โ
Once outside, she immediately asked Jamar to explain everything in detail. As she listened, her resentment toward Ophelia intensified. Ophelia was too much. She had lied, saying she only needed Phoebeโs hair for an exorcism, something a horoscope master could handle at most. Lydia didnโt expect it was actually for a voodoo warlock to curse Phoebe.
Although Lydia didnโt fully understand voodoo or metaphysics, she had heard terrifying rumors about such practices. Now, Lydia was both horrified and relieved. Thankfully, she hadnโt given Ophelia her hair that day. Otherwise, she would have doomed her own daughter.
Lydia had been angry and resentful toward Phoebe, but she had never wished for her to be severely harmed or killed. The worst part was that Ophelia had tried to use her to hurt her own daughter. If this plan had succeeded, she could never face Phoebe again. And if Elliot and her sons found out, they would surely blame her.
The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. By the time they arrived at Opheliaโs hotel, Lydia was practically boiling with rage. Even Jamar could tell his mother was about to explode at any moment. Luckily, it wasnโt directed at him.
Ophelia got up to answer the door when she heard knocking. She was surprised to see Lydia and Jamar standing there. Ophelia called out, โLydia, why are you here!โ
Lydia replied, โI have something to ask you.โ Ophelia was puzzled but still smiled. โCome in and talk.โ Lydia entered with Jamar but didnโt sit down. Instead, she looked straightโ
