Chapter 363

Lyall looked at Elliot and the others as they entered, her expression blank. Cain turned to his father and said, โ€œDul, youโ€™ve had a long day. You should take Mon back to the hotel to rest now.โ€

Elliot immediately understood that his son just wanted to avoid more nagging from his mother. Feeling a bit helpless, he said, โ€œNo rush. Letโ€™s sit for a bit before leaving?โ€ He then turned to Lydia and asked, โ€œHas Mrs. Hillโ€”โ€

Lydiaโ€™s face held a cold expression. โ€œHe came to visit Eain and Jannar, but heโ€™s still mocking us and rolling his eyes. If I were her, I wouldnโ€™t want toโ€”โ€

Lydiaโ€™s speech was cut short, and she muttered, โ€œI wasnโ€™t wrong.โ€

Lydia glared at him. โ€œYou still donโ€™t see your mistake?โ€

Elliot interjected, โ€œRight, hot-Jamar-wand-woong-cuber.โ€ Mrs. Hill has a terrible relationship with her own daughter, so she wants to instigate trouble between you and Phoebe. A person with such ulteriorโ€”

Before she could continue, Elliot added, โ€œYouโ€™ve been having major mood swings lately. Havenโ€™t you noticed something feels off?โ€

Lydia hesitated. โ€œIโ€™ve been feeling irritable, sure, but isnโ€™t that normal?โ€

Elliot bluntly said, โ€œPhoebe discovered that Mrs. Hill had intentionally applied a special fragrance that affects emotions: It heightens negative feelings, making people lose control over small matters.โ€ โ€œIf exposed to it frequently, it can even harm your health.โ€ He deliberately added the last part, knowing that besides her pride, Lydia cared most about her health.

As expected, Lydiaโ€™s expression turned from shock to skepticism. She asked, โ€œIs this real? Is Phoebe just saying this because she dislikes Mrs. Hill?โ€

Elliot had anticipated her doubt. โ€œIf youโ€™re unsure, we can get a check-up to confirm it. Iโ€™ll take you to the hospital tomorrow morning. If thereโ€™s a problem, youโ€™ll see the truth for yourself.โ€

Lydiaโ€™s heart skipped a beat, but she remained stubborn. โ€œI donโ€™t believe thereโ€™s anything wrong with my body. Iโ€™ll go for the check-up tomorrow, just to prove that fine?โ€

Elliot smiled. โ€œGood. Weโ€™ll check the results together. That way, we can finally determine whether Phoebe or Mrs. Hill is the real problem.โ€ Lydia did not argue further, effectively accepting the plan.

After sitting for a while, she and Elliot returned to the hotel. The next morning, Elliot accompanied Lydia to the hospital for a check-up. The results showed that Lydiaโ€™s body contained an abnormal hormone that stimulated emotional reactions. It caused frequent mood swings, irritability, and disrupted sleep and marital problems, affecting her well-being. If exposed over time, it would lead to serious health issues.

Elliot wasnโ€™t surprised by the results. He had already placed full trust in Phoebeโ€™s abilities. Lydia was in a daze after receiving the test results. She only regained her senses when she returned to Cainโ€™s hospital room. Then, a wave of anger surged onto her face.

Lydia said, โ€œIโ€™m going to findโ€”โ€

She never expected that there really was something foreign affecting her body. The more she thought about it, the more wrong she felt. Recently, her mood swings had been extreme. She would get irritable and angry over the smallest things.

Chapter 364

Lydia often woke up in the middle of the night, and her overall energy and well-being had been declining. It turned out it was all caused by an external factor.

No wonder every time she met Ophelia, she noticed the same faint fragrance on her. She had even wondered why Ophelia never changed her perfume despite meeting so many times. Now she knew it was a deliberate trick, and the fragrance was only used when they met. And to think she had treated Ophelia as a close friend!

Now, all she felt was humiliation and fury at being played like a fool. She needed an outlet for her anger.

Elliot thought for a moment and said, โ€œItโ€™s good to confront her. Do you want me to go with you?โ€ It would be better for Lydia to recognize Opheliaโ€™s true nature sooner rather than later.

However, Lydia, already feeling embarrassed at being manipulated, didnโ€™t want her husband to witness her humiliation. She shook her head. โ€œNo need. Jamar, you come with me.โ€ She was going for a confrontation, and bringing a son along made her feel more secure.

Jamar was happy to oblige. โ€œIโ€™d love to.โ€ He wanted to see the drama unfold.

As the two of them were about to leave, Elliot added, โ€œJamar, explain something to your mother on the way.โ€ โ€œOphelia and Sienna tried to get Phoebeโ€™s hair and blood and hired a voodoo warlock to curse her.โ€

Lydia was shocked. โ€œThey tried to use a voodoo warlock against Phoebe?โ€ she asked in disbelief.

Elliot nodded. โ€œYes. Fortunately, Phoebe was smart and didnโ€™t let them take her hair or blood. Otherwise, things wouldโ€™ve been much worse.โ€ He added, โ€œBoth of them are full of evil intentions. The sooner you cut ties with them, the better it is for you.โ€

Lydia felt a storm brewing in her mind. Afraid her husband would notice her turmoil, she forced herself to stay calm and nodded. โ€œAlright.โ€

Once outside, she immediately asked Jamar to explain everything in detail. As she listened, her resentment toward Ophelia intensified. Ophelia was too much. She had lied, saying she only needed Phoebeโ€™s hair for an exorcism, something a horoscope master could handle at most. Lydia didnโ€™t expect it was actually for a voodoo warlock to curse Phoebe.

Although Lydia didnโ€™t fully understand voodoo or metaphysics, she had heard terrifying rumors about such practices. Now, Lydia was both horrified and relieved. Thankfully, she hadnโ€™t given Ophelia her hair that day. Otherwise, she would have doomed her own daughter.

Lydia had been angry and resentful toward Phoebe, but she had never wished for her to be severely harmed or killed. The worst part was that Ophelia had tried to use her to hurt her own daughter. If this plan had succeeded, she could never face Phoebe again. And if Elliot and her sons found out, they would surely blame her.

The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. By the time they arrived at Opheliaโ€™s hotel, Lydia was practically boiling with rage. Even Jamar could tell his mother was about to explode at any moment. Luckily, it wasnโ€™t directed at him.

Ophelia got up to answer the door when she heard knocking. She was surprised to see Lydia and Jamar standing there. Ophelia called out, โ€œLydia, why are you here!โ€

Lydia replied, โ€œI have something to ask you.โ€ Ophelia was puzzled but still smiled. โ€œCome in and talk.โ€ Lydia entered with Jamar but didnโ€™t sit down. Instead, she looked straightโ€”
