Chapter 493 I Just Want to Know What I Am to You

Wyatt tossed the towel into the basin, irritated. โ€œWhy is your body so weak? Go a little hard and you end up with a fever.โ€

He looked up at Yuniceโ€™s expression, frowning. โ€œStop crying. Youโ€™ve been crying since last night.โ€

He reached out and ran his thumb under the corner of her wet eye. โ€œAre you crying because I bullied you, or because youโ€™re upset thereโ€™s someone else in my heart?โ€

Yunice turned her head away, refusing to respond.

His fingers brushed nothing but air, and his face immediately darkened.

Out of the corner of her eye, Yunice stole a glance at him, thinking heโ€™d explode. But instead, he just stood up, scowling. โ€œWhat do you want?โ€

Yunice glared at him, still simmering. โ€œI want to see Nora. I want to know what happened between you two.โ€

Wyatt folded his arms, his brow deeply furrowed. He looked impatient, like he was one wrong word away from snapping.

Leaning against the headboard, Yunice looked half-dead, saying flatly, โ€œGo ahead and kill me if you want.โ€

She burned up at the slightest touch. Push her too far for a couple days and she might really die.

If Wyatt wanted to test her obedience, he probably couldnโ€™t.

He inhaled sharply, furious. No one had ever gotten under his skin like this.

When he didnโ€™t answer, Yunice turned her head and shut her eyes, her lips tight as tears rolled silently down.

She cried miserably.

Wyatt rubbed the bridge of his nose. Heโ€™d had enough.

โ€œCan we finish dealing with the Saunders mess before you start flipping out?โ€

The situation with the Crawfords wasnโ€™t resolved yet. And at such a critical moment, the two most important people had suddenly gone missingโ€“anyone would get suspicious.

Besides, it mattered to Yunice too. They couldnโ€™t just leave it.

Just then, the same housekeeper from earlier came to the door, clearly uneasy. She said softly, โ€œSir, the Crawford family called. They asked if you could return their call.โ€

See? Theyโ€™d already noticed something was off.

Wyatt turned to Yunice. โ€œStay home. Iโ€™ll handle it.โ€

She had a feverโ€“best not to go out.

Wyatt went to the living room to return the call.

โ€œMr. Carlโ€ฆโ€

โ€œYeah, sheโ€™s running a fever.โ€

Carl said, โ€œA fever? Then Iโ€™ll send Freya over to take care of her. You come to the Crawford house.โ€

His tone was calm and polite, but anyone with a brain could tellโ€“he didnโ€™t trust Wyatt. He was sending Freya to check things out.

Wyatt didnโ€™t exactly have a spotless reputation, and Yunice was just a delicate young woman. Who could guarantee nothing would happen to her?

Wyattโ€™s eyes darkened. He gripped the phone. โ€œโ€ฆOkay.โ€

When he returned to the bedroom, Yunice was actually out of bed.

Maybe because of the fever, she looked weak. Sitting on the edge of the bed, she held her forehead, visibly upset.

Wyatt walked over and scowled. โ€œThree days. Can you give me three days?โ€

Yunice looked up, eyes red and full of defiance. โ€œWhatโ€™s with your attitude?โ€

โ€œYou tricked me into marriage. Youโ€™re the one two-timing. Iโ€™m not even making a sceneโ€“I just want to understand what I mean to you. What right do you have to yell at me?โ€

Wyatt stared at her, stunned. It was the first time Yunice had actually complained to him.

But he wasnโ€™t angry at all.

He stepped closer and lifted her chin.

She turned her face away.

Wyatt asked, โ€œThis is my first marriage. Howโ€™s that a scam?โ€

โ€œAnd Iโ€™m clean. Youโ€™ve always known that, havenโ€™t you?โ€

โ€œNoraโ€ฆ we werenโ€™t even officially together. At most, we were ambiguous.โ€ At the word ambiguous, Yuniceโ€™s long lashes flutteredโ€“barely noticeable. She thought she was rational enough. Rational enough to control her emotions. She thought she could calmly accept Wyatt having been in a relationship with Nora.

But she hadnโ€™t expected that one wordโ€“ambiguousโ€“could make her chest tighten.

She cared.

She cared that Wyatt had been involved with another woman. Even more, she cared that he had once truly fallen for someone else.

Ambiguous. That stage when emotions are at their most tangled.

Half-formed feelings, loaded glances, affection blooming in every little moment.

If Nora hadnโ€™t suddenly ended up in a coma, would that relationship have ever ended? Would Yunice even be in the picture now?

When Yunice stayed silent, Wyatt said, โ€œFreyaโ€™s coming to see you in a bit.โ€

He held her hand, fingers gently wrapping around hers. โ€œDonโ€™t say anything reckless. Donโ€™t make trouble.โ€

Yunice could go tell on him. She could cry and accuse him of cheating.

But if she wanted Carlโ€™s help to get a divorce, Wyatt could also ask Carl for a few tips.

He was never above playing dirty.

The bedroom door opened and closed. Wyatt left.

With his coat in hand, he headed for the living roomโ€“where Freya was already waiting by the door.

She raised her hand, fingers fluttering like piano keys as she greeted him. โ€œMorning, Mr. Wyatt.โ€ Wyatt curled his lips into a smile, sharp-edged and dangerous. โ€œYou got here fast.โ€
