Chapter 672 Needle to the Heart
Yunice scoffed. โYou old hag. And here I thought you actually had some guts. Turns out youโre just a coward hiding behind dirty tricks. You were planning to bury that needle in my vein, let it ride through my bloodstream until it reached my heart. It wouldnโt kill me right away, but itโd be enough to take me out slowly. You think that if Iโm gone, Wyatt will never build his own family, that you can keep him all to yourself, forever.โ
The needle in Madam Maryโs hand trembled. This woman โ she really could see straight into peopleโs darkest thoughts.
Yes, thatโs exactly what sheโd planned. Scratching her face or breaking her fingers wouldnโt be enough. Yunice had to die, or the threat would never end.
But Yunice suddenly burst out laughing. โIdiot. Canโt even be a proper villain. You were so busy gloating you forgot to knock me out first. Did you really think Iโd just sit here, fully conscious, while you stabbed a needle into my vein โ and not tell Wyatt afterward?โ
Madam Maryโs stomach dropped.
That was exactly her plan. The needle was fine and short, painful upon entry, but once inside the bloodstream, itโd be undetectable.
If Yunice were unconscious when it happened, even after waking up, she wouldnโt know what was wrong โ let alone think to ask for help.
But now Yunice had figured it all out. And if she didnโt die fast enough, the Johnson family would be the first ones facing Wyattโs wrath.
But Yunice had already seen everythingโฆ
Panic rising, the old woman snapped to the two men, โHold her down! Donโt let her move!โ
Just then, the two thugs pinning Yunice suddenly staggered โ and slammed to the floor with a crash.
โYunice!โ Wyattโs voice came from nowhere, and in a flash, he was at her side.
โโฆWyatt?โ Madam Mary stammered, completely stunned. โWerenโt you in Silverburgh? How did you teleport here? How are you this fast?!โ
Yunice narrowed her eyes and collapsed delicately into Wyattโs arms.
She looked like a fragile willow in the wind, delicate and helpless โ like a scene out of some drama.
Wyattโs face was full of panic. He didnโt know where she was hurt.
He turned toward Madam Mary and shouted, โWhat did you do to her?!โ
What did they do?
They didnโt even have to lay a finger on her. Yunice had been running her mouth moments ago, full of fire โ and now she looked like death.
She was clearly faking it!
Why couldnโt Wyatt see it? Didnโt he notice the bruises on Shaneโs face, or the blood on her?
Madam Mary barked, โWyatt, come to your senses! Sheโs pretending! Sheโs the one who attacked us!โ
She jabbed a finger at the welt on her cheek. โShe slapped me! Wyatt, she slapped me in the face!"
Wyatt snapped, โSo your response was to hurt her?!โ
So what?
Wasnโt the real issue that she had been slapped?
She got hit and sheโs the one in the wrong now?!
Fuming, Madam Mary tried to retort โ but the look in Wyattโs eyes froze the words in her throat.
He was looking at her like she was already dead.
Her heart sank. Had this woman really bewitched him completely?
But when Wyatt looked at Yunice again, all that cold fury softened into deep concern.
He cradled her protectively and asked in a low voice, โAre you hurt? Tell me โ where does it hurt?โ
Yunice murmured, โIโm justโฆ a little scared. Madam Mary said I seduced you, said the only way youโd ever stop thinking about building a home with meโฆ was if I diedโฆโ
Madam Mary and Shane stood there, speechless โ utterly dumbfounded.
That woman was spewing pure lies!
Madam Mary trembled, hands shaking in fury. โDidnโt I just say?! Wyatt, open your eyes! Sheโs pretending! Sheโs lying to you! She was fine before you came in โ completely fine!โ
But Wyatt wasnโt even listening. His focus was solely on Yunice.
She gave a few soft coughs in his arms and added weakly, โIโm telling the truth. She was going to stab the needle into my veinโฆ let it flow to my heartโฆ so Iโd die.โ
Wyattโs eyes reddened. He looked at Madam Mary with a storm of pain and rage.
The old womanโs hand jerked behind her back, trying to hide the needle she still held.
But the gesture was all too obvious.
Wyatt lifted Yunice gently and pulled a chair over, placing her down carefully.
Then he took off his jacket and draped it over her lap.
Standing in front of her, shielding her completely, he fixed Madam Mary with a cold, cutting stare.
โYou know sheโs my wife.โ
Yunice sat curled behind him, small and smug. Like a cat, her triumphant gaze peeked out from behind Wyattโs broad back, aimed straight at Madam Mary.
The old woman nearly choked from rage โ but worse was the sinking dread in her gut.
Because this time, Wyatt was truly, absolutely furious.
