After sleeping with Adam, Celine was baffled by his cold, distant attitude. She couldn't understand him, no matter how hard she tried. Turning to her best friend, Robin, for advice, she received a blunt reply: “It means your friend couldn’t keep her husband interested. He slept with her once and got bored.”

Was that it? Real, lasting relationships required compatibility, especially in intimacy. Celine worried; Adam seemed to have high standards. Had she failed to meet them? Had he already grown tired of her?

Unsure how to respond, Celine denied it, quickly setting aside her phone. Her mind racing, she eventually fell asleep.

The next morning, a startling realization struck her as she brushed her teeth: Adam hadn't used protection. He'd been intense and unrestrained, finishing inside her each of the three times they'd had sex. She'd forgotten her birth control pill the previous day.

Panic ensued. A child was out of the question. She rushed to the nearest pharmacy.

“What can I help you with?” the owner asked.

Celine spotted a box of 48-hour emergency contraception. She recognized the brand, but one ingredient caused an allergic reaction. Time was short; she bought it.

After taking the pill, she returned to Yorhine University. Hailey found her, noticing Celine's ashen complexion. Before Celine could respond, an allergic reaction caused her to faint. "Celine!" Hailey screamed, rushing her to the campus infirmary.

Hailey frantically explained the situation to the doctor: “Doctor, what’s wrong with her? She fainted!”

The doctor reviewed the blood test results. “Allergic reaction to a medication—a birth control pill.”

Hailey's shock was palpable. Celine lay curled on the bed, pale and sweating, clutching her stomach. Hailey immediately called Adam.

He was at the hospital with Carly, who was, as usual, clinging to him. Lucy offered Carly mango. "Adam, feed me," Carly pouted.
