Chapter 275
When Halley returned to the Lambert residence, Linda greeted her warmly.
“McHaley, welcome home!”
Hailey, born with a birthmark, had been labeled "Ugly Hailey." While others might have become self-conscious, she remained cheerful and optimistic. This endeared her to all the servants.
Happily hugging Linda, she said, “Linda, I’m back. I’ve invited two guests, and I want to give them a proper welcome.” She emphasized the words "proper welcome."
Linda beamed. “Are they your friends, Ms. Hailey? It’s wonderful that you’re making more friends.”
At that moment, a luxurious car pulled into the driveway, and two women, Carly and Melody—Hailey's guests—stepped out.
Hailey smirked. Speak of the devil.
It was Carly and Melody's first time at the Lambert residence, so they had dressed meticulously, hoping to impress Allie.
“Melody, what do you think Allie looks like?”
“I’m not sure what she looks like, but I’m certain she’ll adore you, Carly.”
Carly was brimming with joy, but her expression froze upon seeing Hailey. Stunned, she exclaimed, “Halley, why are you here?”
Melody looked equally bewildered. “Hailey, this is the Lambert residence. How could you possibly be allowed in here?”
Neither Carly nor Melody could believe they’d encountered Hailey here.
Linda began to speak, but Halley interrupted, turning to Carly and Melody. “That’s right. This is the Lambert residence. Guess how I happen to be here.”
Carly looked puzzled. “Could it be that you’re…”
Hailey pressed, “Who do you think I am?”
Carly glanced at Linda. “Is she your mother? Is your mother a maid here?”
Linda’s face darkened. “You!”
Hailey stepped forward, shielding Linda and silencing her.
Melody burst into laughter. “Hailey, we didn’t know your mom was a maid here. Why didn’t you tell us sooner?”
Carly looked at Hailey with disdain. “Halley, it’s not your fault you were born ugly, but it is your fault for coming out and scaring people.”
“Honestly, we feel sorry for you. Your mom’s a maid, and you’re just an ugly woman. How about we organize a charity fundraiser to fix that birthmark? You really look awful,” Melody added. “No wonder you hang out with Celine. Besides her, who else would befriend ‘Ugly Hailey’?”
Carly and Melody continued their cruel taunts.
Linda trembled with anger. Initially believing they were Hailey’s friends, she now saw them as wild dogs barking at Halley. If Halley hadn't stopped her, she would have summoned the bodyguards.
Hailey remained calm. “Why are you two here at the Lambert residence?”
Carly replied proudly, “Have you heard of the Lambert family’s youngest daughter, Allie? She invited us as her guests!”
“Really?” Hailey feigned envy. “Allie actually invited you two?”
Carly and Melody lifted their chins smugly. “That’s right. Are you jealous, Halley?”
“Allie is the Lambert family’s beloved youngest daughter. She invited us to play, while you, Ugly Hailey, are stuck with someone from the countryside like Celine. How pitiful.”
Linda was so exasperated she nearly rolled her eyes. She couldn't believe what she was hearing.
