Melody paused to consider an idea she'd never entertained. "But Carly, I like Nate."
Carly immediately advised, "Melody, give up on Nathan. He's marrying Laura. The Gardners and Lynches will be in-laws. This marriage is unshakeable. You need to find a new target. The Shaws are a wealthy Mercity family. Ewan's from a good family, and he's a nice person. The Lynches have chosen him to be Hailey's husband. Win him over, and you'll marry into the Shaws."
Carly was right. Nathan was marrying soon. Regardless of her feelings, Melody shouldn't waste her youth on him. She was from a distant branch of the Alvarez family. Linda's humiliation had only strengthened her resolve to marry well. Ewan was the best option; the Lynches wouldn't choose someone imperfect. Winning Ewan would be her revenge on Hailey. Despite her illegitimate status, she was capable of winning the fiancรฉ of the Lynches' daughter.
Carly smirked. "Who knew Ewan's fiancรฉe was ugly? No man would choose an ugly woman if he had a choice. Melody, Ewan likes you."
Melody was an expert at attracting men. Seeing Ewan's expression, she knew he liked her, and that Hailey had nothing to keep him. Melody, the most popular dance major at Yorhine University, was every introverted guy's dream girl. Winning Ewan would be easy.
Nodding, Melody said, "Okay, Carly. I'll bring you good news soon."
"Hailey's meeting Ewan for a movie tonight, isn't she? You know what to do," said Carly.
Blushing, Melody gave an okay sign.
When Hailey returned to the dormitory, she didn't tell Celine about her lesson for Carly and Melody. Instead, she tried on a pretty dress, twirling for Celine. "Celine, do you think Ewan will like this for our date?" Celine, looking up from her prescription, nodded. "He will."
Hailey chose the dress and started her makeup. Celine had recently learned Ewan was Hailey's fiancรฉ. "Hailey, why do you like Ewan?"
"Everyone calls me ugly because of this birthmark. Ewan's the only one who says I'm pretty. He's kind. He confessed his feelings, and we got engaged."
Celine remembered seeing Ewan playing basketball, surrounded by cheering girls. He was undeniably charming. She approached Hailey and covered the birthmark on her face. Hailey's innocent face and large, twinkling eyes were revealed. Many men would have fallen for her without the birthmark.
"It's almost time, Celine. I'll go." Having finished her makeup, Hailey grabbed her bag.
"Okay. Have fun," Celine said, waving with a smile.
Ewan arrived at Yorhine University, intending to go to the cinema. However, it was raining. His car was parked far away, so he planned to run to the cinema in the rain. Just then, a pink umbrella appeared above him. Ewan turned to see Melody's innocent, pretty face.
