Listen to this chapter:

Hailey caught the black jacket. It was most likely his, still holding some of his residual warmth. It was warm. He was such a cold person, but his jacket felt so warm.

Declan didn't look at her. He took his phone from his pocket and dialed a number. When the call connected, he recited their address: โ€œHeโ€™s out coldโ€ฆdonโ€™t waste my time with small talk, just transfer the reward money to my cardโ€ฆ.โ€

Hailey stood, leaning against the Uber, wanting to thank Declan. However, at that moment, a familiar voice called from the distance: โ€œHailey! Hailey, where are you?โ€

Celine had begun searching the area. When Hailey turned, Declan was gone. Why had he left so quickly? She hadn't even gotten a chance to thank him.

Adam and Celine found her. Adam had seen tire skid marks on the road, so he and Celine had gotten out of the car to search. Celine saw Hailey and quickly ran over. โ€œHailey, are you alright? Why are you here? You frightened me!โ€

Adam looked at the driver, who was unconscious on the ground, and guessed what had happened. He sighed in relief seeing Hailey was safe, but his expression was cold and fierce. He scolded, โ€œHailey, why did you run out like that? Youโ€™re an adult, responsible for your own actions!โ€

Listening to Adamโ€™s harsh reprimand, Hailey couldn't contain her sadness, fear, and helplessness. Tears filled her eyes, and she turned to walk away.

Celine quickly ran after her. โ€œHailey, where are you going?โ€

However, Hailey didn't look back. Celine accidentally hit her leg on a rock, gasping in pain as she clutched it.

Hailey stopped and quickly ran back to check Celine's leg. โ€œCeline, are you alright?โ€

Celine released her leg; there was no injury. Hailey froze, looking at Celine, who simply stood in the rain. Her eyes held a warm smile as she looked at Hailey with a clear gaze. โ€œSee, Hailey? Things arenโ€™t as bad as you think they are.โ€

Haileyโ€™s tears finally flowed. Celine reached out and hugged her, patting her back lightly. โ€œItโ€™s alright, just cry it out. Everything will be alright.โ€

Hailey leaned on Celineโ€™s shoulder, tears clouding her eyes. She sobbed, โ€œCeline, Iโ€™ve had this birthmark since I was a young child. Dad, Momโ€ฆ everyone felt bad about itโ€ฆ especially Dad. He feels guilty that he can treat others but not his own daughter.

โ€œTheyโ€™re all trying so hard to show me their loveโ€ฆ and I love them so much too. I donโ€™t want them to be sad, so Iโ€™ve always tried to smile, even though I still feel sad when I see myself in the mirrorโ€ฆโ€

โ€œEwan said I was pretty, and I believed himโ€ฆ but heโ€™s been lying. He said I was ugly. Celine, what did I do wrong? Is it a sin to not be pretty?โ€

Celine hugged Hailey and comforted her gently. โ€œHailey, you did nothing wrong.โ€

Adam stood beside them. Hailey was his cousin; how could he not feel for her?

Shortly after, two police cars arrived. The officers got out and took the unconscious Storm Killer away.

One older officer looked in the direction Declan had disappeared and asked Hailey, โ€œMiss, did the man who saved you leave already?โ€
