The two women Sonia referred to, Carly and Tracy, remained silent, unable to retort. Just then, the villa's door creaked open, revealing Perry's handsome figure.
Sonia exclaimed, "Mr. Marshall, good day! We finally meet."
Perry stood in the doorway, observing them. "Mrs. Tate Senior, what happened?"
Carly noted Perry's good mood, contrasting sharply with their having waited over half an hour in the cold wind and light rain. She suspected he'd done it deliberately, watching them from inside the villa.
Sonia explained, "Mr. Marshall, Dr. C cheated us out of everything. We have no choice but to ask for your help."
Tracy asked, "Mr. Marshall, you said you knew Dr. C well. Is that true?"
Perry smiled. "I've told you, Dr. C is a woman. You're right; I do know her well."
Carly's eyes lit up. "Then, Mr. Marshall, can we ask for your help in finding the fake Dr. C and recovering our property?"
Perry, who had enjoyed watching their bedraggled appearance from upstairs, looked at the Tate family's earnest expressions and laughed. "It's useless to beg me. Beg someone else."
"Who?"
Perry named Celine. "Celine!"
The question hung in the air. Why Celine? Both James and Perry had directed them to her.
"Mr. Marshall, please don't joke. Celine can't help us."
Perry raised an eyebrow. "I've said all I need to. Whether you listen is your choice." He turned and left.
"Mr. Marshall!"
Carly tried to speak, but the maid slammed the door shut. They were again locked out.
Sonia questioned suspiciously, "Why did both Mr. Lambert and Mr. Marshall send us to Celine?"
Lucy quickly responded, "Mom, don't fall for their tricks! They're probably playing us. We won't beg Celine!"
No one was willing to beg Celine. They usually looked down on her. The thought of appearing before her in their current state, let alone begging, was unthinkable.
Sonia sighed, "We've gone to Mr. Lambert and Mr. Marshall, but neither could help. What do we do now?" Silence followed.
Sonia anxiously asked, "It's dark. Are we really spending the night by the roadside?"
From his second-floor balcony, Perry watched. He photographed them and sent the picture to Celine, then called her.
Celine answered, her pretty voice saying, "Hey there, handsome."
Perry smiled. "Celine, did you see the photo? The Tates are bickering and will spend the night in the streets."
Celine, having taken the day off, was arranging flowers in Jupiter Heights.
