Celine said nothing more. "Tomorrow, I will bring the fake Dr. C to Tate Manor. You will bring my father's ashes. We will carry out the trade in person." She went inside and slammed the apartment door shut.
Everyone was speechless. Lucy's expression was full of suspicion. "We've already filed a police report and used every method available to find the fake Dr. C, but he's vanished. We couldn't even find a trace, yet Celine says she'll bring him to us tomorrow. How can I believe her?"
Carly looked at Adam. "Mr. Alvarez, what's your opinion?"
Adam looked at the firmly closed apartment door and pursed his lips. "Since things have come to this, it seems you have no choice but to trust Celine."
Silence fell again.
"Then let's wait until tomorrow and see if Celine shows up with the fake Dr. C," Sonia decided.
Carly clung to Adam's arm. "Adam, we have nowhere to stay tonight."
Adam said, "I'll have my secretary arrange for you all to stay in the hotel's presidential suite tonight."
Sonia's eyes lit up. "Thank you, Mr. Alvarez."
Lucy smiled. "Carly, maybe you don't need to come to the hotel. Mr. Alvarez is staying here, so you can stay with him tonight."
Carly looked seductively at Adam. "Adam, I"
Adam pulled his arm away. "I need to work late tonight. You should all go to the hotel and rest." He went into his apartment and closed the door.
Carly was speechless. She had offered herself, only to be coldly rejected. Her pride was hurt.
Someone laughedโHazel. She covered her mouth. "My apologies. I couldn't resist."
Since Tracy and the fake Dr. C had already run into problems, Wayne's family naturally hoped Hayden's family wouldn't succeed, and that Carly wouldn't marry Adam so easily. Hayden and Lucy felt embarrassed; their daughter wasn't as popular as they hoped.
Sonia stamped her foot. "That's enough! You're all bad apples! Stop laughing! You're all equally useless! I thought you could combine your efforts for the wedding of the century, but I've clearly overestimated you."
Carly and Tracy remained silent. Everyone followed Sonia and left.
In the apartment, Adam stood before the floor-to-ceiling windows. Leo came and stood behind him.
"Mr. Alvarez, we've sent people to look for the fake Dr. C. He took precautions, so we'll need more time."
Adam removed his coat, revealing a white button-up shirt and business vest. His hair was neatly gelled. He had been busy; he'd just returned from Marland and had many documents to review.
Leo asked, "Mr. Alvarez, since we're looking for the fake Dr. C, why did you tell Ms. Tate and her family to ask others?"
Adam loosened his cuffs and rolled up his sleeves. He turned to Leo. "I've always been looking for the real Dr. C, but they've remained hidden. This is the perfect opportunity to see if the real Dr. C will reveal themselves amidst the chaos."
Leo understood. Adam had always planned to wait for the real Dr. C to show themselves. The real Dr. C was the only person to ever escape Adam's grasp. This time, Adam was determined to find the mysterious Dr. C.
