Chapter 432
Adam watched Celine depart, a subtle curl to his lips. Something felt different about her, a change he couldn't quite articulate. Since their divorce, she had become increasingly unpredictable.
Night fell, and the banquet commenced. Everyone, for the moment, set aside their conflicts with Celine, donning their finest attire for the grand event. The hall buzzed with high society's elite, powerful figures gathered for one reason: a glimpse of the legendary Dr. C.
Carly and Tracy, resplendent in haute couture gowns and flawless makeup, beamed with excitement. "Dr. C should be here soon, right?" Tracy exclaimed. "I can hardly wait!"
Carly nodded. "Me too. I've always wanted to meet her. She's the only one who can cure my heart condition."
Adam, impeccably dressed in a tailored black suit, stood beneath the chandeliers, his presence commanding. A group of executives surrounded him, their conversation focused on Dr. C.
"Mr. Marshall, hello!" someone called.
Adam looked up. Perry had arrived.
"Mr. Alvarez, good evening," Perry greeted him.
"Mr. Marshall, what brings you to Mercity?" Adam asked.
Perry raised an eyebrow. "I'm here with my girlfriend. She's in Mercity."
"Mr. Marshall has a girlfriend? I wonder which Mercity socialite stole your heart," Adam remarked.
Perry smiled warmly, glancing at Adam. "My girlfriend is from the Alvarez family."
A gasp rippled through the executives. "But we've never heard of Mr. Alvarez having a daughter or a sister."
Perry's gaze met Adam's. His "Alvarez family" referred to Adam's ex-wife.
Adam understood. His gaze turned cold.
Perry continued, "My girlfriend is incredibly talented. Mr. Alvarez personally shaped her into the person she is today. A great leader trains only the best. I should thank Mr. Alvarez for such an amazing girlfriend."
Carly and Tracy approached. Hearing Perry's praise for Celine, Carly was stunned.
Whispering to Adam, she said, "Adam, this Mr. Marshall is unbelievable. He's not ashamed of 'picking up after you'; he's proud of it!"
Adam's cold gaze silenced Carly.
Tracy, impatient, asked, "Where is Dr. Chere?"
Sonia and Lucy echoed her anxiety. "Dr. C should be here by now. We can't wait any longer."
The grand doors swung open. All eyes turned to the entrance. A breathtaking figure appeared.
Celine had arrived.
She wore a champagne-gold gown that perfectly showcased her elegant figure. Her long black hair was swept up, revealing her delicate face. Under the lights, she radiated a soft luminescence.
With graceful steps, Celine entered the hall, exuding confidence and allure, captivating everyone present.
