Chapter 450

Haley chimed in. โ€œExactly, Carly. If you really didnโ€™t know anything, why didnโ€™t you immediately confront Mrs. Tate after finding out she hired someone to kidnap Celine? Instead, you blamed Mr. Alvarez. What does that say about you? If you claim you didnโ€™t know, no oneโ€™s going to believe you.โ€

The crowdโ€™s eyes turned to Carly. โ€œItโ€™s obvious Mrs. Tate and Carly conspired to kill Celine.โ€

โ€œThankfully, Celine is the renowned genius Dr. C. Otherwise, she wouldโ€™ve died at their hands long ago.โ€

โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong with Carly? She stole Celineโ€™s mother, her family, and her place. What more does she want? Why does she still want to harm Dr. C?โ€

โ€œSome people are just born rotten.โ€

Carly felt her face burn with humiliation as the words cut deep. She realized too lateโ€”Celine had lured her into a trap she couldnโ€™t escape.

Adamโ€™s gaze darkened with disappointment. โ€œCarly, why would you do this? Youโ€™ve let me down.โ€

Carly felt like a stranger to him now. Was she still the kind-hearted girl he had met in that cave all those years ago?

โ€œCarly tried to explain, but Celine didnโ€™t give her the chance. She took a step forward and said, โ€œCarly, now you know why I refused to treat you. Iโ€™m not a saint. Why should I save someone who wants me dead?โ€

Carlyโ€™s breath hitched.

Celine turned to Adam. โ€œMr. Alvarez, now that you know Carly tried to kill me, do you still expect to save her?โ€

Carly didnโ€™t want to die. She desperately grabbed Adamโ€™s arm. โ€œAdam, save me!โ€

Adam pursed his lips, saying nothing.

Celine smirked. โ€œCarly, if you want me to save you, then beg. Get on your knees and beg me.โ€

Just moments ago, Tracy had been forced to kneel. Now, it was Carlyโ€™s turn.

โ€œMake Carly kneel. Youโ€”โ€

Lucyโ€™s face twisted in shock. โ€œCeline, how dare youโ€”โ€

โ€œMrs. Tate, you really do love Carly, donโ€™t you?โ€ Celine replied with a mocking smile.

Lucyโ€™s words died in her throat.

Celine turned back to Carly. โ€œCarly, you only get one chance. Iโ€™m giving you that chance now. Are you going to kneel and beg me or not?โ€

Carly refused to kneel. In her eyes, Celine was nothing but a vile woman. Why should she kneel to her?

Carly turned to Adam, pleading, โ€œAdam, I wonโ€™t kneel to Celine. Sheโ€™s going too far. Please, help me!โ€

Adam was her only lifeline now.

Lucy and Sonia stepped forward, trying to persuade Adam. โ€œMr. Alvarez, Carly is your girlfriend. How can you let her kneel before Celine in front of all of Mercityโ€™s elites? This isnโ€™t just humiliating for her; it reflects on you as well.โ€

Adam remained silent, his handsome, noble face betraying no emotion.

Carlyโ€™s heart raced. She couldnโ€™t tell what he was thinking. However, one thing was certainโ€”she couldnโ€™t kneel.

Gripping his arm tighter, she whispered, โ€œAdam, donโ€™t you remember your promise? You said youโ€™d protect me, that youโ€™d never abandon me. You havenโ€™t forgotten, have you?โ€

Adams looked at her. โ€œCarly, Iโ€™ve indulged you time and time again, and itโ€™s led you to this point. If I keep indulging you, I donโ€™t know what youโ€™ll do next. I canโ€™t let you become completely unhinged.โ€

Carlyโ€™s eyes widened in terror. โ€œAdam, what are you saying?โ€

Adam turned to Celine. โ€œCeline has given you a choice. If she says you kneel, then you kneel.โ€
