Chapter 64: Lenient With You

Caleb fell back onto the bed in defeat.

Since Raquel had suddenly come to apologize to him, he reckoned that surely meant trouble.

Perhaps a bigger trouble was looming over him.

As it turned out, Caleb’s premonition was right.

Not long after, his door was forcefully kicked open.

Finished

Yelena aggressively entered the room. “Caleb, I’ve searched everywhere in the house. Your room is the only place left. Out of my way. I need to get to the bottom of this today!”

Caleb lay on the bed, utterly indifferent. “I’m injured, I can’t even move a single finger. If you insist on searching, help me outside so I won’t be in your way.”

Yelena scoffed. “Stop pretending. Don’t forget that it’s because of you that we’ve been so swamped. If you don’t want to endure more punishment, step aside obediently. Otherwise, don’t blame me for taking action.”

Caleb looked up at the woman who was once his sister.

When he was a child, he was bullied by a group of naughty kids. Yelena bravely stood up for him. Despite being surrounded by four or five opponents, she successfully rescued him.

Although those few troublemakers sustained severe injuries, the harm inflicted on Yelena was by no means minor.

After returning, she spent a full week recuperating at home before she went back to school for her classes.

However, life was unpredictable. The very person who had once risked everything to protect him was now ready to resort to violence against him, intent on taking away all that he had. Even more shockingly, she was his own sister.

Caleb lowered his head. “If you want me to move, you’ll have to do it yourself.”

“You think I wouldn’t dare?” Yelena furrowed her brows. “Seems like I’ve truly been too lenient with you, allowing you to walk all over me!”

With that, Yelena walked the talk.

She rolled up her sleeves and forcefully shoved Caleb a few times.

As he was being pushed downward, Caleb felt a wave of dizziness wash over him, his body devoid of strength.

Upon seeing Caleb not resisting at all and rolling down just like that, Yelena was also dumbfounded. Why isn’t he retaliating? How could someone who had been in prison be so fragile?

Realizing that what Caleb had just said was true, Yelena was suddenly at a loss. “I didn’t… I wasn’t…” She bent down to help him up, complaining, “You’re so fragile, a few pushes and you’re down. How did you even…”

Before Caleb could even utter a word, she suddenly let out a sharp scream. “Blood, blood! You’re bleeding. Someone, come quick!”

After enduring several heavy blows earlier, Caleb’s wound had completely split open.

The wounds on his hands, back, and shoulders, all of which had been touched by Yelena, began to bleed, staining her hands crimson.

During his time in prison, his cellmates dared not cause too much trouble. They would always wait until Caleb’s wounds healed before taking out their frustrations on him again.

However, George completely disregarded Caleb’s injuries these past few days, relentlessly hitting him continuously. As a result, Caleb’s wounds were continuously aggravated, leaving his body on the brink of collapse.

Tears glistened in Yelena’s eyes. “Caleb, I didn’t mean to… Please don’t blame me.”

Struggling, Caleb managed to open his eyes. “Let me go.”

“Let go? But…”

Before she could finish her sentence, Yelena was pushed away by Caleb.

“Caleb…” Yelena was utterly heartbroken.

They were clearly siblings, so how did they end up in such a situation?

Upon hearing the shouts, the housekeepers had all gathered. “Ms. Quixall, what’s wrong?”

Wiping away her tears with her hand, Yelena pleaded. “Caleb is hurt. Call a doctor immediately.”

The housekeepers, not daring to delay, stepped out of the room to contact the doctor.

On their way, they unexpectedly ran into George, forcing them to halt.

George asked with a stern face, “What’s with the commotion? Why are you all in such a hurry? How inappropriate!”
