Chapter 111
Jenny was surprised to see Matthew and asked, "Did you get the Tiger Seal?"
Matthew nodded. "Yes," he replied. "You don't need to worry about your brother anymore. Ivan won't bother you again."
Jenny looked at Matthew and tentatively asked, "Are you really the successor of the Medieval Aureate Sect?"
Matthew shook his head. He knew the sect she referred to. Traditional medicine included several divisions, such as the Frostbloom Sect and the Medieval Sect. When Matthew's mentor, Nicholas, taught him, he didn't specify which division it belonged to.
"I'm not sure," Matthew replied. "My mentor never told me."
Jenny nodded and continued, "Actually, I also learned medicine from my grandfather." She explained that she'd never dared to practice or claim medical skills. "Do you think I can start practicing now?" she asked.
Matthew pondered. Vincent was dead, and Ivan likely wouldn't trouble her again. "You can practice medicine," he advised. "I'll help you find a place to open your own clinic. And if you encounter something you can't solve, you can come to me."
Jenny felt awkward. "You've been so kind," she said. "I'm unsure how to express my gratitude. I'm quite proficient, you see. Once I earn some money, I'll repay you."
Matthew paused. "Your grandfather once helped my mentor," he said. "I'm here to return the favor." He reassured her she didn't need to repay him. "How about I take you to find an available store right now?"
As they walked, they talked, and Matthew learned about Jenny's background. She'd learned medicine from her grandfather and studied modern medicine in college. Her initial employment was at a hospital, but family issues and Ivan's disruptive behavior led to her losing her job. In desperation, she became a courier.
They examined three stores before choosing one in a less central area. Matthew covered three years' rent and helped purchase medicine cabinets, medications, and various office supplies. After ensuring everything was in order and promising to assist on opening day, he left.
Half an hour later, Matthew stood at the entrance of the Opulent Club, remaining there for a long time. Even though it was his second visit, he felt uncomfortable, likely due to his unpleasant first experience.
Just then, a car stopped, and Cole Bennett emerged. He adjusted his suit and walked toward the club's entrance. Passing Matthew, he glanced back, stopped, and exclaimed, "Oh my, if it isn't Mr. Grant! What are you doing here?"
Matthew was surprised. He hadn't expected to see Cole, a former high school classmate. Cole came from a wealthy family; his father and uncle were businessmen considered small tycoons in Lambda City. In high school, Cole had a crush on a girl who liked Matthew instead. Aware of his modest background, Matthew focused on his studies and ignored the girl, which offended Cole, who constantly troubled him. Only after Matthew's business success did Cole restrain himself.
Matthew hadn't planned to interact with Cole until Cole spoke. He casually replied, "Oh, I'm here to handle something."
Cole laughed heartily. "Mr. Grant, I heard you were sent to prison and got divorced. That sounds awfully tragic."
Matthew's expression darkened. He hadn't expected Cole to remain unchanged. He stayed silent, his gaze cold.
Cole continued laughing. "Actually, I shouldn't even call you Mr. Grant since you don't own a company anymore. At most, you're just an ex-convict now."
Matthew hadn't anticipated trouble just by standing at the entrance. He would have ignored Cole if he'd known. Regardless, he headed toward the club's entrance.
Cole quickly followed, pointing at the entrance. "Do you also want to go in? Don't even dream about it," he sneered. "You have no assets and are an ex-convict," he remarked. "You can't even become a security guard here!"
