Listen to this chapter:

Rachel raised her eyebrows. Matthew was doing it again, using a nonexistent illness to deceive her. Just as she was about to express her anger, her phone rang.

She answered. It was Tracy. "Hello? It's late. Did something happen?"

Tracy was anxious. "Something happened to the new medicine. You should come and check it."

Rachel, having recently secured the presidency, felt the pressure to demonstrate her capabilities. Hearing of the problem, she felt a surge of nervousness. "What happened? Tell me everything!"

A problem with the medicine would be a significant issue; a single batch could endanger many lives. Rachel knew she had to prioritize it, especially a new medication.

Tracy's voice was shaky. "Two people are in the hospital. I don't know if there will be more."

"Without you, no one knows what to do. Why don't you come back now? I've booked a plane ticket for you."

After the call, Rachel shed her pajamas and chose an outfit suitable for going out.

Matthew watched from the bed. Had she forgotten there was a man in the room? He looked at the red cloth draped around the proud woman, his throat tightening as he gazed at Rachel.

Rachel found a blouse and, while putting it on and on a call, accidentally met Matthew's gaze, causing her to shriek. She remembered the man in her bedroom, having forgotten about him in her haste to change.

Matthew's mouth went dry. "I was just looking. I didn't mean anything. Don't overthink it."

Rachel crossed her arms and shouted, "Why are you still looking? You're a pervert!"

Matthew clicked his tongue. "You're the one who took off your clothes! Why am I a pervert?"

"From a doctor's perspective, your blouse is too small and tight. It's not good for your health. I advise you to…"

A shirt sailed through the air, landing on Matthew's head.

"You're a bad doctor."

Matthew quickly removed the shirt, realizing Rachel was already dressed. Smiling, he explained, "You've misunderstood. I'm a decent doctor with vast knowledge and experience dealing with all kinds of complicated diseases, including many gynecological issues causing infertility."

While packing her luggage, Rachel urged, "Hurry and pack. We're going back to Lambda City now."

Matthew felt a pang of regret. He'd had alone time with Rachel, yet nothing had happened. He wondered if he'd been too restrained, regretting his honesty. Seeing Rachel finish packing, he began to pack his own things.

Meanwhile, downstairs, Martin and Yvonne were entertaining Jeffrey.

Yvonne smiled. "I know you like Rae. I have high hopes for you. As for Matthew, he keeps pestering Rae and won't let her go. How could she like him—an ex-convict and divorcee? She only treats him nicely because he's shameless."

A glint of determination appeared in Jeffrey's eyes. "I know how to deal with him."

Martin nodded. "A man needs tactics sometimes. You don't need to be polite to Matthew. I heard your family has some medicine-related projects, one based in Lambda City. You could discuss a collaboration with Rae—it would bring you closer."

Their conversation was interrupted by Rachel and Matthew's arrival downstairs. Martin quickly called Rachel over. "Rae, your classmate Jeffrey is here. You should catch up."

Rachel was surprised. "I didn't know he was here, but this isn't a good time. Something happened at the company, and I need to go back."

Yvonne suggested, "Jeffrey drove, so he can take you to the airport."
