Listen to this chapter:

Rachel stopped, frowning. "What else do we need to talk about?"

Jeffrey decided to be direct. "I'll be straight with you. Your parents want me to marry you, and I agreed."

Rachel, unsurprised, replied, "They gave you the wrong impression. I'm sorry about that. But I already have a boyfriend."

Jeffrey was taken aback. "Are you really going to marry a chauffeur? He barely earns enough to feed one of my dogs. He's not in your league. We, on the other hand, are a perfect match."

Rachel smirked, remembering Matthew's earlier words. "If he can't make money, I'll provide for him." Matthew's impassive expression broke into a smile. He had been joking, but Rachel's seriousness made him realize how good it felt to be pampered by a woman like her—rich, pretty, and with a good figure.

Jeffrey's face fell. Rachel would rather lose money than be with him.

Furious, Jeffrey stomped his foot. "What's so great about Matthew? He's poor and pathetic. What makes him better than me? Why him?"

Rachel considered Matthew's self-sacrifice for his ex-wife, contrasting it with Jeffrey's anger at simply being rejected. She realized Jeffrey was nowhere near Matthew's level of respectability.

Thinking of this, Rachel said with conviction, "Matthew is more responsible." She took Matthew's hand and left.

Jeffrey found her reason absurd. Responsible? How was that a desirable quality?

Seeing them go, Jeffrey smashed a cup on the floor in a rage.

Hailey, watching quietly from the side, spoke after the outburst. "I didn't want her involved in this deal in the first place. It's better without her. We're doing this for profit, not for you to chase girls."

Jeffrey remained upset. "She likes a guy so broke that his only asset is his sense of responsibility. Is she out of her mind?"

Hailey shook her head. "I have no idea, but she has definitely lost her mind for refusing this project. Anyone investing in traditional medicine will end up broke. After Rachel loses her funds, she'll drag the Carter family down with her. You know what to do, right?"

Jeffrey's expression darkened. He had already set his sights on the Carter family's wealth, regarding them as assets. Watching them lose their fortune would hurt him more than anything.

But Hailey's words spurred him. "I'll start by putting some pressure on Rachel. I hope she'll come to her senses."

After Hailey stormed out, Jeffrey was alone. He poured himself a drink and gulped it down. Seething with anger, he stood up with determination. "I'll kill you, Matthew. Then all my problems will disappear."

Meanwhile, Hailey exited the Opulent Club and got into a car. She called, "The Carter family is investing in traditional medicine."

An old man's voice answered, "Yet another ignorant fool. Tuschen's market is tied to the interests of many influential people worldwide. The Carter family is digging their own graves by going against them. This also means we failed to set a clear example. This time, we need to be more brutal to send a clear warning."

Matthew drove slowly. Rachel, in the passenger seat, glanced at him. Finally, she asked, "Are you seriously going to sell the formula to me?"

Matthew smiled. "You're my wife, so it's basically yours now."

Rachel blushed. "Stop saying that. There's nothing between us."

Matthew furrowed his brows. "Earlier, you said you're going to provide for me. How can you toss me aside after using me?"

Rachel's forehead creased. Something seemed off about Matthew's words.
