Chapter 446 The Wedding and the Road Ahead

Sierraโ€™s heart softened. There were so many things she wanted to say to Johnathan.

This wasnโ€™t a formal wedding. Very few guests were invitedโ€“only people they both knew well.

The whole ceremony was casual and unconventional. As Johnathan had put it, they werenโ€™t doing this for anyone else.

The ceremony ended quickly, and then came the blessings from their guests.

Wayne said only one thing: โ€œLive well, the both of you.โ€

Chase had a thousand things he wanted to say, but in the end, he just told Johnathan, โ€œGo see your mother when you get back.โ€

For once, Johnathan didnโ€™t get upset. He simply nodded.

The old manโ€™s health wasnโ€™t good. Just attending the wedding had already taken a lot out of him. Chase and the old man left early.

Once they were gone, the atmosphere instantly became more lively. Most of the guests were young, and things got rowdy fast.

Mateo was the loudest of them all. He looked at Sierra and said, โ€œSierra, you guys finally tied the knot. If this had dragged on any longer, we wouldโ€™ve died of exhaustion. Do you know how hard it was to find a place that met all his standards? It had to have great scenery and deep meaning. Do you know how much trouble it took to buy this castle? I almost talked my mouth dry. And the flowers, the balloonsโ€“we did all of it ourselves!โ€

Even though he was grumbling, his eyes were filled with happiness.

Theyโ€™d thought Johnathan would stay single for life, and yet he ended up being the first of them to get married.

Next to him, Draven couldnโ€™t help chiming in:

โ€œItโ€™s not even the season for blue flowers, but this guy went all out and made the impossible happen.โ€

Theyโ€™d gone through a lot to pull this offโ€“and Sierraโ€™s senior classmates had helped, too.

Thinking of that, Draven glanced at Autumn, who was chatting excitedly with Sierra, completely ignoring him.

At that moment, Autumn was whispering to Sierra, โ€œDo you know why Professor Yaeger chose this location?โ€

Before Sierra could respond, she answered her own question:

โ€œBecause divorce isnโ€™t allowed here. I donโ€™t know how he did it, but he got a marriage license here.โ€

The certificate wasnโ€™t legally valid back home, but it held deep meaning. Besides, the two of them would definitely register the marriage again once they were back.

Sierra was surprised. She really hadnโ€™t known that.

โ€œThat priest is impossible to book. Word is, all the couples heโ€™s blessed are still madly in love.โ€

All the little details made it clearโ€“this wasnโ€™t some spur-of-the-moment decision. Johnathan had really put his heart into it.

Sierra hadnโ€™t known any of this. All she knew was that Johnathan had been busy lately. She had no idea heโ€™d been doing all this behind the scenes.

He really hadnโ€™t let her worry about a single thing from start to finish.

Everyone there was someone she knew. There was no need for formalities. Or more accurately, Johnathan refused to let Sierra get tired. After a single drink, he told everyone to enjoy themselvesโ€“then whisked Sierra away.

As she was changing out of her wedding dress, Sierra looked surprised.

โ€œWeโ€™re not staying here?โ€

Johnathan looked just as surprised. โ€œYou want to stay here?โ€

Sierra instinctively shook her head. It was justโ€ฆ they had spent so much to buy the castle. Not even spending one night felt like a waste.

Johnathan saw what she was thinking and chuckled. โ€œItโ€™s not a waste. Besides, theyโ€™re staying too.โ€

As he spoke, he led Sierra to the car.

Everything was already packed insideโ€“their luggage, some snacks. It was a high-performance off-road vehicle.

Sierra looked at Johnathan, confused. He turned to her and smiled.

โ€œFor the next month, youโ€™re all mine. Starting nowโ€“our journey begins.โ€

Johnathan kept his word. Over the next month, he drove Sierra across multiple countries.

She saw things sheโ€™d never imagined sheโ€™d see in her lifetime: glaciers, auroras, deserts, mountains, glass-like oceans.

She tried things sheโ€™d never tried before: skydiving, surfing, desert hiking, mountain climbing, scuba diving, bungee jumpingโ€ฆ.

That month, she was truly happy.

Out there, no one knew who she or Johnathan was. They had fun like regular people.

And it was only then that Sierra realizedโ€“this was what it meant to truly relax.

For as long as she could remember, she had never relaxed.

As a child, she worked hard just to avoid getting hit and to fill her stomach. After entering the Xander family, she tried her best to be obedient and capableโ€“constantly trying to please everyone. In prison, she fought with everything she had just to survive.

Later, for her grandmotherโ€™s sake, she tried to earn more money. Then she pushed herself to be better, so she could be worthy of Johnathan.

She had been like a perpetual-motion machine, never stopping.
