Chapter 12: A Death Wish

"Beat him up! Kill him!" Warrick shouted viciously, struggling to his feet, a hand pressed to his cheek after Jared's slap sent him flying.

On the stage, Leyton smirked sadistically. Everyone watched, offering no sympathy to Jared; they certainly wouldn't intervene.

Facing a dozen men, Jared sneered and stepped forward.

Boom!

That single step shook the banquet hall like an earthquake. In a split second, the goons screamed in agony, flying backward and smashing into tables and chairs. Chaos erupted.

The guests were stunned. A chill ran down Baldy's spine as he stared at his men sprawled on the floor. At the edge of the stage, a well-dressed middle-aged man, Yoel Scott (Leyton's father and patriarch of the Scott family), frowned deeply. He'd come to his son's wedding and witnessed Jared effortlessly throw a dozen men. A martial artist himself, Yoel recognized Jared's formidable abilities.

On stage, Leyton's brow furrowed. "Damn it! What a useless bunch!" he roared, rushing down. Sandy followed.

"Don't act rashly, Leyton!" Yoel cautioned, rising from his seat, fearing for his son.

"What's going on? What is happening here?"

A dozen hotel security guards arrived with rubber batons. In Glamor Hotel's five or six years of operation, no one had dared cause troubleโ€”it belonged to the Sullivans, Horington's wealthiest family. Furthermore, this was the Scott family heir's wedding; the Scotts held nearly as much influence. Causing trouble here was akin to a death wish.

Upstairs, in a private room, William frowned at the crashing sounds. The hotel manager, sweating profusely, hurried in.

"What's happening downstairs?" William demanded.

"Someone's causing trouble at the Scott family's wedding banquet. He's assaulted several people and broken things," the manager stammered.

William's face flushed crimson. "Someone dares cause trouble here? What are you all doing? Useless! Send more security before the hotel's reputation is ruined!"

"I already did," the manager replied.

"Then why aren't you there? Are you waiting for a riot?" William snapped, frightening the manager into a hasty retreat.

"Dad, you're unwell. I'll go downstairs," Josephine soothed, leaving the room. As William's only daughter, she bore the weight of the Sullivan family's affairs during his illness.

Meanwhile, over a dozen security guards surrounded Jared in the banquet hall. The manager bowed and scraped before Yoel. "I'm so sorry, Mr. Scott. I never expected such audacity. I'll remove him immediately!" He then addressed the guards, "Why are you standing there? Get him out!"

"Wait," Yoel interrupted. "He caused havoc at my son's wedding. How can we save face? Even if he doesn't die, he'll lose his limbs!"

The manager hesitated. Yoel sneered. "The Scott family will handle this. You can leave."

"Of course, of course!" The manager readily agreed.

"I don't want his limbs, Dad! I want him dead! He dared disrupt my wedding!" Leyton glared at Jared. "I'll kill you, Jared! You'll learn your lesson!"

"As I said, you shouldn't have had this wedding if I was here. Believe me now?" Jared chuckled, his gaze unwavering.

"Never!"

Leyton lunged, fist swinging.

Thump! Snap!

The sound of shattering bone pierced the air. Leyton's arm hung at an unnatural angle, clearly broken.

"Ahh!" he screamed in agony.

The onlookers gasped. He'd dared attack Leyton? He must be suicidal!
