Chapter 139: You Must Have Lost Your Mind
"Stop yakking! Give me the information!" Jared's impatience was evident. He was just blathering, Zayne thought, out of jealousy and a desire to humiliate him.
With a frosty expression, Zayne tossed the folder containing the information to Jared. Hmph! This time, I'll definitely get rid of you! he thought, gritting his teeth.
Maria panicked. "What's the meaning of this, Zayne? I've been negotiating with Cosmic Chemical! Do you know how long I've been working on this? Why did you give it to him?"
Cosmic Chemical was a major client; the commission would be substantial. That's why Zayne had initially assigned the project to Maria. Given their relationship, no one in sales dared object. He'd even made several trips to Cosmic Chemical's office with her. Maria had worked incredibly hard. Her anger was understandable.
Zayne pulled her aside. "Don't make a fuss. I'll explain later."
He then turned to Jared. "This is our most important client. Settle it as soon as possible. Give me a timeframe."
"Tomorrow," Jared replied. He'd initially considered that afternoon, but needed time to inform Tommy and make arrangements.
"Tomorrow?" Zayne was stunned. The entire sales department gaped in disbelief.
Lydia scoffed. "You must have lost your mind, Jared! This is Cosmic Chemical! You think you can secure the collaboration by tomorrow?"
Maria was furious. "Can you stop bragging? I've spent three months on this client! I didn't finalize it, and you think you can do it tomorrow? You're ridiculing my incompetence!"
Seeing Jared's self-assuredness, Zayne sneered. "You said it yourself. Pack your bags if you fail. We don't need big talkers!"
"Okay," Jared readily agreed.
Zayne was elated. He knew Jared couldn't possibly succeed. It hadn't been easy for him and Maria, and the Scott family was also interested in Cosmic Chemical.
He took Maria to his office to explain. The other employees eyed Jared disdainfully before leaving.
Jared didn't even look at the information; he sent it to Tommy. Hilda, however, anxiously reviewed the details on Cosmic Chemical all day.
Jared finally urged her, "Hilda, you have a class reunion tonight. It's time to go. Stop studying the information."
Hilda was distraught. "Jared, Cosmic Chemical is incredibly difficult. The general manager is stubborn. How will we convince him tomorrow?" She didn't want to go to her reunion; she didn't want to lose her job.
Jared looked directly at her. "Don't you trust me? I said it'll be fine, so it's a done deal. Don't worry!"
