Chapter 150: Avoiding Payment
Lincoln felt relieved when he saw everyone drinking. Good! He could pay for the meal himself, but now that they were all drinking, they could split the liquor bill. There was no way he'd pay over a million on his own!
Assuming Lincoln would cover them, the others fawned over him.
โIf it werenโt for you, Lincoln, I doubt Iโd ever taste such good liquor!โ
โExactly! Youโre awesome, Lincoln! A million really means nothing to you!โ
โAnd Jared? Doesnโt he know how capable Lincoln is? How dare he compare himself to Lincoln?โ
Jared remained unfazed by the flattery. Say whatever you want now; you'll still have to pay later.
In a blink of an eye, they finished ten bottles of brandy. Some couldn't even stand upright.
โAll right. Itโs time to go,โ Jared told Hilda.
Hilda nodded and helped Yolanda out of the room. The others followed. Lincoln hurried to catch up, eager to humiliate Jared publicly. Let's see how you're going to pay!
โMay I know the total?โ Lincoln asked the cashier.
โSir, your total bill is two million, one hundred thousand,โ the cashier replied.
Lincoln nodded, took out his phone, and began calculating the split bill. โJared, there are fourteen of us. That's one hundred and fifty thousand each. Since there are three of you, you owe four hundred and fifty thousand.โ
Jared chuckled. โFour hundred and fifty thousand is nothing!โ
Michelle said sarcastically, โDrop the act, Jared. If so, pay up now!โ
Yvonne added, โThereโs no way he can pay! Heโs just acting rich!โ
The others waited, expecting Jared to be humiliated. Four hundred and fifty thousand was a huge sum for a typical wage earner; they were sure he couldn't afford it.
Hilda stared at Jared nervously; she had no money. How are we going to pay four hundred and fifty thousand?
Yolanda, who had been silent, slowly raised her head. โI have two hundred thousand. Take it.โ
Yolanda knew she shouldn't let Jared pay for her. After all, she had insisted on bringing them, though she never expected things to turn out this way. Furthermore, she knew Jared wasn't wealthy and had recently been released from prison. Four hundred and fifty thousand must be unimaginable for him.
Michelle scoffed, seeing Yolanda offer her hard-earned money. โYolanda, just how rich do you think you are? I'm sure you had to whore around quite a few times to earn that!โ
โHow dare you?โ Yolanda, infuriated by Michelleโs insult, felt lightheaded and fainted.
โYolanda! Yolanda!โ Hilda cried, catching her.
Jared checked Yolandaโs pulse. Seeing she would be alright, he told Hilda, โHilda, take her home. Iโll handle this.โ
Hilda worriedly asked, โBut Jared, what about the money?โ
Jared said with a straight face, โDonโt worry. I have my ways. Take her home now.โ
Hilda glanced at Jared, then at the unconscious Yolanda. She had no choice but to leave.
Lincoln said coldly, โJared, now that the ladies are gone, are you going to leave without paying?โ
Jared scoffed. โIโve got no bills to pay!โ
