Chapter 154: No One Is Allowed To Leave

Lincoln and Hilda’s former classmates were stupefied to hear Jared and Josephine speaking. At that moment, Lincoln finally understood why Jared received free meals at the hotel.

A smile flickered across Jared’s face as he asked Josephine, “Are you jealous?”

“As if! Why would I be?” Josephine rolled her eyes. “My dad’s been asking about you! He wants you to have dinner with us!”

“In a few days, perhaps. I’m swamped right now,” Jared replied.

The onlookers stared enviously. They were dumbfounded that he’d rejected a dinner with the Sullivan family—a meal that could potentially change their lives. They couldn't understand his refusal of such an opportunity.

“Hmph! What could you possibly be doing? Maybe I should appoint you company chairman! Then you wouldn’t be so busy,” Josephine said, unhappy with his rejection.

“Oh, no! I haven’t got time to manage your company!” Jared quickly waved his hands.

Again, those around him, especially Lincoln and his dinner companions, were stunned. Just hours earlier, they’d ridiculed Jared; now, they felt insignificant in his presence.

“I don’t care. You’re coming tomorrow. My dad said Mr. Grange asked him to invite you, so there must be a reason,” Josephine said in a domineering tone.

Learning that Walter wanted to see him, Jared instantly accepted, suspecting it concerned the spiritual brush. “All right. I’ll come at noon tomorrow.”

“That’s better,” Josephine said, a blissful smile finally gracing her face. She then looked at Lincoln and the others. Their eyes met, and they lowered their heads in embarrassment.

“Detain them all! No one leaves until they’re paid in full!”

The security guards quickly locked everyone in a room behind the payment counter.

Imprisoned, they regretted mocking Hilda relentlessly. They hadn’t disliked her; they’d acted under Lincoln and Michelle’s influence. It was too late to realize their mistake, however. Blaming Lincoln and Michelle, they began beating the pair.

Josephine offered Jared a ride home, but he refused; her luxury car would attract too much attention. She sighed as she watched him drive away in his Ford.

Jared called Hilda upon arriving home, confirming his safe arrival. He learned she was spending the night at Yolanda’s, comforting her. His parents were asleep. He sat cross-legged, absorbing spiritual energy using his Focus Technique.

Surrounding spiritual energy gathered, but it was far less than at Dragon Bay. His abilities improved little overnight; he only replenished his existing energy.

“It’s useless here. I need to return to Dragon Bay. I can’t improve staying here!”
