Chapter 153: Audacity

Suddenly, everyone realized Jared's identity was no longer relevant. He must be important; otherwise, why would he be eating for free at the Glamor Hotel? He seemed to be their only hope.

They gathered around Jared, begging for his help.

"Please help us get out of this! We're Hilda's friends!" "We were fools to believe Lincoln and Michelle!" "Lincoln's a fraud! He must have extorted money from Hilda! No wonder she broke up with him!" "Please, Jared! I'm begging you!"

Jared stood, surveyed them, grinned, and exclaimed, "How audacious of you to call yourselves Hilda's friends! I could get you all out of this with one word, but I won't. You all deserve this!"

Remorse washed over them.

"Bring them away!" A staff member at the payment counter ordered, since Jared wouldn't intervene.

"Hey! No! Let me go" "Please help me!"

Some sobbed as they were forcibly removed.

"Don't touch me! II'm a close friend of your boss's daughter! If you touch me again, I'll get her to fire all of you!" Lincoln threatened the security guards.

The guards froze, realizing the potential consequences. The payment counter staff were stunned; they had given the order.

Relieved that his threat worked, Lincoln arrogantly declared, "I'm a close friend of Ms. Sullivan. I didn't want to tell her I was here; otherwise, she'd have joined me. But if you touch me again, you'll leave me no choice! I can call her right now and get you all fired. Now let me go, and I'll forget this ever happened."

The staff turned to Jared. They knew about his relationship with Josephine. If Josephine was Lincoln's close friend, Jared would know. They looked to him for confirmation of Lincoln's claim.

Jared furrowed his brows. Just as he was about to question Lincoln, a voice echoed through the lobby: "So, you say you know Ms. Sullivan?"

Josephine entered the hotel. Lincoln, coldly staring at her, nodded. "Yes, I do. We're close friends. We always dine together!"

Josephine burst into laughter. Jared laughed too. Lincoln was bluffing!

The hotel staff chuckled. Josephine stood before him, and Lincoln was completely unaware. Seconds earlier, he had boldly claimed to be her close friend.

"Hey, idiot! Do you know who's standing in front of you?" Jared mocked.

Lincoln felt uneasy. Staring at Jared in confusion, he heard, "That's Ms. Sullivan, your 'close friend'!"

Chuckles erupted into full-blown laughter. Lincoln wished the earth would swallow him whole.

"What are you doing here so late?" Jared asked Josephine.

"What else? I heard you were here, so I came to see you. I also heard you have a beautiful lady keeping you company these days. Enjoying yourself, are we?" Josephine eyed Jared with a hint of jealousy.
